25/02/07 - Red Mist Means 'Ricay Blewitt

Yesterday afternoon we were involved in a game that we ultimately won and saw a stunning goal from Steve Wales but the main talking point involved an incident just after half time first where their was a clash between the Billericay keeper defence and Roscoe Dsane, at the time it appeared to me (based by the players tunnel) that hands were raised by both thee keeper, defender and Roscoe but on later watching dons online you can see that the defender runs against Roscoe and falls over then gets up again and tried the same routine again at the end of it the ref booked both Dsane and the Billericay keeper but just two minutes later the ref was involved again when near the corner of the main stand and the tempest end and with everyone standing up i couldn't see what happened but i'm informed by someone that it happened in front of the Ricay defender raised his hands this time the ref went straight or his red card and the aptly named Darren Blewitt was directed in the way of the changing rooms.

With the scores level it was important that we made our numerical advantage count and 10 minutes later Steve Wales at his second attempt managed t get his second goal of the game and 3rd goal of the week. We extended our lead to 3-1 with 10 minutes of the game left when Paul Lorraine scored with a header at the back post from a corner.

The drama wasn't over yet as 5 minutes before the end the linesman flagged for a free kick our way but the ref thought we had an advantage so played on but we lost the ball and Billericay scored. We managed to ensure that no more goals were conceded and we went back to the top of the table whilst the Billericay players and fans complained about how we "cheated"

22/02/07 - Letter from The House of Commons

At the end of last week I sent a letter regarding the expulsion from the FA Trophy and possible 18 point deduction to my MP, The sports minister and Hugh Robertson the shadow sports spokesman, tonight on arriving home I received a reply from Hugh robertson and I have reproduced the letter below: -

    Dear Mr Raymond

Thank you for your recent correspondence about AFC Wimbledon. I was already aware of the points deduction but it was kind of you to write to me personally.

Like almost everyone involved in Football, I have enormous regard for AFC Wimbledon. It is a real community club and has done superbly well to achieve so much in such a short space of time.

As Shadow Sports and Olympics minister, I cannot actually take any action myself. However, I have spoken to the Wimbledon MP, Stephen Hammond, and he is making representations on behalf of the club. He will have my full support.

I will also make sure that both The Sports Minister and the FA are aware of the strength of feeling. I hope that this will help to achieve a successful outcome for the club.

    All my very best wishes.

    Yours sincerely

    Hugh Robertson

    21/02/07 - Off The Top

Last night we were knocked off the top of the table when Bromley beat Staines 4-1 in the first half Staines appeared all over Bromley but fell behind when the keeper miss kicked the ball straight to Tony Boot who then sent it straight back over his head from 40 yards and into the back of the net.

Staines got a deserved equaliser in the half but couldn't take a lead. The second half saw a lot better Bromley performance and they scored 3 more goals. We only dropped 1 place as Margate lost at Tonbridge.

    17/02/07 - Winning run Stops

After 55 great wins our run came to an end today at Horsham with a 1-11 draw it a game that created very few chances from either side. We took the lead on 55 minutes when Steve Wales ran onto a Roscoe pass and just as it looked it had got away from him he poked it into the back of the net. Horsham's equaliser came from a corner on 70 minutes we failed to clear the ball and they scored from close range.

At the end of the game it felt a bit flat that we hadn't continued our winning run but then the news came in that results had gone our way and we were top of thee table, footballs a funny old game.

    11/02/07 - Bromley Beaten Again

Yesterday we played the home game against Bromley and what a performance it was, Even after going behind to an early goal We leveled the scores from a calm Steve Ferguson effort after he beat the offside trap, the scores were level at half time.

The Bromley side that came out for the second half seemed determined to go at us and although they had some early effort it didn't really cause us much problems. We were playing really well and their was an incredible atmosphere round the ground, which was also helped by a decent turnout of Bromley fans. Then with just over 15 minutes left a delightful ball to Steve Ferguson allowed him to get his second goal of the game when he put the ball past the keeper rom a tight angle.

But just a few minutes later Bromley were awarded a soft penalty but Andy Little pulled off a great save to keep the score at 2-1 then with 10 minutes left Roscoe Dsane did some lovely work and managed to tap the ball into an empty net. Even in the final 10 minutes we could of had a number of other goals but the only remaining goal came from Bromley when they scored from a corner which seemed to make the score line look closer than this game was.

03/02/07 - Bad Hair Day For Tonbridge

This afternoon we had the game all sown up by half time in a one sided half we seemed to have some great play in the middle, some great crosses and some great finishes. Steve Ferguson got the score line going after just 12 minutes when he picked up a lose ball from a free kick and smashed it home from about 8 yards, the whole team and supporters enjoyed this.

On 36 minutes we had the first of two goal of the season candidates Steve Ferguson put over another delightful cross right into the heard of the six yard box with the keeper looking like he would just catch it the Tonbridge number 5 decided he wanted to place a delightful header straight past the keeper, a truly great own goal and from memory to use a Danny Baker sketch why when own goals are scored do the team that got the goal always go and congratulate the person who had the last part of the move, couldn't they just once go up to the scorer and ruffle his hair or something?

Then just before half time Luke Garrard got the ball on the corner of the box and although it looked like he also was crossing the ball but it went in the back of the net just under the crossbar the keeper who apparently had been to a barber's prior to this match, but looked like he had left before it was finished was definitely having a bad day.

In the second half we took our foot off the pedal a bit and couldn't extend thee lead any further even when Tonbridge were awarded what looked a soft penalty it was only ever going to be a consolation.

Even when we got back on the coach and it wouldn't start it didn't seem to matter and after an hour wait we were on our way home with the points safely tucked away.
