  • 26/02/06 - Predict The Run In

Think you can guess how the League Table will end up at the end of the Season? With the season into it's final quarter I have put together a form where you can identify the results for each of the current top 8 teams and we can see how it will develop between now and the end of the season.

Once your entry has been submitted, as long as you have used a valid e-mail address I will send you what your final table will look like and it can be monitored between now and the end of season.

Where teams are playing against each other please make sure you put the correct prediction in for each team, as the system isn't able to tell the difference on this first run.

If you can submit your entry by Saturday 15:00 it will enable a good and fair idea of everyone's views.

To take part please click here.

    26/02/06 - Amazon Shopping Link

On the recent commercial survey which I conducted on behalf of the club it was nice to see the number of people who made reference to the Amazon Link that is available on this site. If you haven't used the service before but shop at Amazon all you need to do is click the Amazon link on the left hand side and then any purchases made during that visit result in a commission being allocated to the account then at the end of the reporting period the money is passed on to The Stadium Fund. So not only do you get a good bargain but the Stadium Fund also get's proceeds from it as well.

/02/06 - Thank you Very Much For The Six Points Fisher

Well in a season of up's and down's so far it looks like the roller coaster is far from reaching the end of the ride yet. This afternoon we once again beat Fisher 1-0 and has now put the playoff fight back in our own hands.

In very windy conditions and a pitch that had about as much grass on it as a well talked about Premiership club, and meant at times free kick's were being taken without the ball being still. The game started at a cracking pace and neither set of players had much time on the ball but we created a few good chances and when Fisher did attack the Midfield and Defence ensured that danger was not moving too far up the scale.

The teams went in with the score 0-0 and we wondered if we could continue the same in the second half and maybe sneak a goal. Then on 67 minutes some nice play by Dwayne Plummer on the left played the ball into Wes and he fired home from 25 yards, at first it looked like it had hit the inside of the post and was coming out again but it ended up in the back of the net and some crazy reactions started on the terraces.

With just under 25 minutes left it looked like if we could survive the first minute and a half we would then be into a major battle as currently second placed Fisher tried to get at least a share of the points but they didn't really threaten and when the final whistle went it was a victory that we had well deserved and set's us up nicely for next week's huge trip to Braintree.

23/02/06 - Gell Misses Braintree Game

Chris Gell will have to sit out the trip to Braintree as he has now picked up 5 bookings this season and therefore has to miss a game. With the suspension 2 weeks after passing the number of bookings and Chris Gell being booked in the final minute of Saturday's game against Windsor & Eton when it seemed the ref didn't want to get involved in any paperwork could turn into a real blow.

23/02/06 - Shane does Well For New Zealand

This morning Shane Smeltz played the full 90 minutes for New Zealand against Malaysia in a match New Zealand won 2-1, although Shane didn't get on the score sheet he apparently played very well and a New Zealand based AFC Wimbledon fan reported the following: -

Quote from commentators “The man who’s done a fantastic job for the All Whites – over from AFC Wimbledon – is Shane Smeltz. He’s made all the difference since he got the call-up.” and the early report on the New Zealand Soccer site said "Striker Shane Smeltz had a left-footed shot blocked by the at times outstanding Mustafa in the 72nd minute before hooking a right-footed shot agonizingly wide in the same movement."

Below is a picture of Shane in action for New Zealand.

22/02/06 - Dinner With Dave auction Items

Friday night is the Sold ut Dinner with Dave night at Kingsmeadow and a number of items have been put up for auction which are really incredible. Although they may go up on the official site all re-sized and looking nice I have just been sent the pictures and have permission to display them on the site.

As the 9 pictures are big I have split them over 3 pages with links at the bottom of each page to the other ones. To view the items please click here. If you wish to make a bid please send an e-mail to Ivor and he will make sure that your bid is added to the auction as long as it's above other people's. 22/02/06 - Big Blow With Buts Out

With the news that Richard Butler is to have surgery on his hernia on Thursday it looks like we will need a big performance from the other strikers and maybe some substitute performances from some of the reserve strikers from Niall Connery and Mark King. Let's hope that Shane has a good flight back from New Zealand and when he arrives back on Saturday morning is ok to play some part in the game at Fisher.

Let's hope Richards surgery goes well and he is able to make a quick and full recovery.

    /02/06 - Two Coach Trips

With our next 4 games all being away the club have arranged coach travel to two of these games. These are the trips to Braintree on Saturday 4 March and Margate on Tuesday 7 March. As usual the coach will pick up at both Wimbledon Park and then Kingsmeadow and drop off at both these points on the way home.

To book you place on the coach give the office a call and they will be able to take your payment by credit/debit card, and confirm the departure times, the saturday game is Late morning and the evening game is Mid/late afternoon.

19/02/06 - Shane On Winning side

As you will be aware Shane Smeltz is currently away with New Zealand as they play some Home games against Malaysia. The first one as last night and the second game is the Friday and therefore Shane will also miss the Fisher Game.

Shane started on the subs bench last night and came on after 68 minutes and was therefore on the pitch when New Zealand scored their 87th minute winner. Lets hope Shane gets to play the full game in the second match and maybe even get on the score sheet.

13/02/06 - Sorry For No Updates

Sorry for no updates over the past week as you may have heard I was struck down by the Winter sickness bug that is going round at the moment, anybody that has had this will know that it knock's you out for a minimum of 48 hours and then takes as long for you to recover and with it hitting me Last Monday night it meant I missed both the games against Braintree and Margate but as I am over it now so will try and get things back up and running again.

    06/02/06 - Don't Miss It Tuesday Night

Tuesday night is the first of a number of big games over the next month as we also have trips to fisher and then the return game at Braintree. The player's will be well up for this game but it's also important that as many people as possible can get to the game and we get behind the lads, it's easy to call this game a six pointer but the result could end up playing a large part in how we finish the season, so if you can make the game no matter what part of the ground you are in get behind all the players and let's cheer the lads onto victory.

    06/02/06 - Club Commercial Survey

sorry for the slight delay but I have now managed to produce and electronic copy of the Club's Commercial survey that was being handed out at the last home game. The survey ask's a few questions about various Online shopping and it would be a great help to the commercial team if you could complete the Survey, it doesn't ask for any personal details and if more than one person in the household shop's online it would be of help if you completed it individually.

If you would rather hand in a printed out copy you can download a blank template at the link and hand it in at the next home game. The Survey will remain open until Thursday 16th February 2006 and the results passed on to the Commercial team at the Windsor & Eton game on the 18th February/.

To Complete the Survey please click here it should only take a couple of minutes and all help is appreciated.

    05/02/06 - Last Week's Soccer AM Clip

Thanks to Joe Carter, who currently sit's 3rd in the AFC Wimbledon Premiership Fantasy League Competition has managed to produce a digital version of the part of Soccer AM where they talk about the game against Windsor & Eton the clip is in avi format so you may need to check that your media player can play this format.

The file is 13.2mb in size and you can download it by clicking here. Some people have found that if you save the file direct to your computer it runs better than just clicking open.

Joe is currently working on getting this week's clip as soon as he has done that he will pass it on to me and I will add that as well, this maybe the middle to end of this week.

    04/02/06 - That Was Quick

We got off to a lightning start this afternoon when we scored after apparently just 72 seconds. Richard Butler flicked the ball over the defender before shooting into the back of the net. The starting line up included both this weeks new signing's in Dean Brennan and Liam George and although neither had a chance to meet the players at a formal training session they both settled in very well. On arrival at the ground at just after 13:30 Dave Anderson explained to both players the roles he expected of them in the middle of the pitch and come kick off they put the plan into action, Dean was playing on the Right wing and Liam up front with richard Butler.

Leyton leveled the score on 26 minutes when a shot from the Number 9 went in off Michael woolner.

In the second half we were forcing a number of attacks including a couple of times that it was going round the box like a pinball ball, then on 63 minutes Rob Ursell played a ball down the left hand side Richard Butler latched onto it just inside the area had a shot that the keeper blocked and Richard Butler's second effort cannoned off the keeper before landing at the feet of Liam George who was 5 yards out in front of goal with an empty net, he soon filled it by putting the ball in the back of the net. It was a lovely move and deserved a goal.

With Liam already on the score sheet the other new boy Dean Brennan almost got his name on as well when Shane Smeltz collected the ball near the corner flag forced his way into the box and squared it to Dean who's effort crashed against the post and was cleared.

It wasn't all one way traffic and Leyton had some very fast wingers that managed to get down the line and put some good crosses in but the defensive unit managed to clear them, at one stage we had 10 players behind the ball as the players battled to keep the score line to 2-1. The last few minutes we managed to keep the ball well with some good passing and on the final whistle it was a well deserved 3 points.

    04/02/06 - Leyton Matchday Service

The Matchday service will be in action as we take on Leyton in the league this afternoon, it also looks like a couple of new names will be involved they are Liam George and Dean Brennan. To follow the action click the matchday link above and will get under way from 15:00.

The Show starts at 09:00 and runs through to 12:00 and is on Sky sports 1.

    Wes Daly 2 Votes 2.78%
    Dave Sargent 1 Vote 1.39%

    02/02/06 - Onwards Progression

Tonight we beat Met police 2-0 with goals from Robert Ursell and Dwayne Plummer and although neither goal was a classic we had numerous chances to score a lot more goals in the second half. The only real scare was when Andy Little allowed the ball to go underneath him but hit the post and came straight back out for him to collect.

01/02/06 - Surrey Cup On Thursday

Dave has named a strong squad for the Surrey Senior cup game against Met Police on the unusual football night of a Thursday. The winners will be away to Goaldming United in the next round. Kick off is at 19:45 so lets have a good turn out to cheer the lads on in the defence of the cup.

    01/02/06 - Leyton On Saturday

On Saturday we make the trip to Leyton in the league but the "Transport for London" site suggests that it might be a better route to get the Victoria line up to Walthamstow Central and then get a bus that should go direct to the ground, if you do go to Leyton station on the central line it's a good 25 minute walk to the ground.
