1. Mark Cooper 21(33%)

28/02/05 - Take Me Home

This morning Everstrong's first single "Take Me Home" went on Pre-Release prior to it release on April 11th.

To reach the charts it will need in the region of 2,500 sales but all orders in the pre-release period count towards the chart on April 17th and the more pre-release sales that are made the more coverage it will get boosting chances of more people buying it and getting an AFC Wimbledon supported band into the charts.

HMV now have the single on pre-order and you can buy it by clicking here all profits from this are going to the stadium fund as well. If you wish to buy multiple copies for different people in the family make sure you buy them in different weeks in the build up to release as otherwise if you were to buy 5 copies for example it may only be treated a 1 for the chart position.

Anyway good luck to Everstrong.

28/02/05 - Amazon Link

The Amazon link on the site is doing really well again and remember all commission from the site goes directly to the Ground Fund. So click on the link on the left of the page and have a look to see if you need anything.

27/02/05 - Shedding The Pounds

A Couple of weeks ago I mentioned that the fact that six AFC Wimbledon fans were aiming to lose weight whilst raising funds for the stadium fund well here is an update on how they are doing.

After Three weeks of the Six week period over £500 has been pledged and between the six of them 70lbs have been lost or around 5 stone so well done to all 6 of them so far keep up the good work. To see information on the weekly figures or pledge some money click here.

If you will be interested in being in the next group of weight loss candidates and in the mean time raise some funds for the stadium fund drop me an email and I will host the details.

It's very straight forward all we need to know is the amount you have lost (or not) each week and you email each week this figure the next group will start from around 19th March 2005. If you would like to take part send me an email at paul@itmustbedons.com.

27/02/05 - Target Top Six

The play off's are played in the mid-week after the season finishes with the highest place team at home, the final is the following Saturday with once again the higher team at home.

23/02/05 - Defeat In The Bryco Cup

Last night was a game of two half's after we went in at half time 2-0 up it looked like we could be in the semi-finals of the Bryco cup but two goals inside the first 6 minutes of the second half put the balance back Sloughs way and in the end they finished up 4-2 winners. Our first goal was announced as Robert Ursell but it looks like it was a own goal by the keeper. The second was a Mark Cooper Header.

22/02/05 - Goal Poll From Saturday

A discussion took place on Saturday evening over who scored our goal the choice was between Andrew Martin and Mark Cooper, as you may have seen I have slowed down the goal footage from Donsonline which you can view here and then you can vote for who you think should get the goal by clicking here.

21/02/05 - Slough On Tuesday Night

If your going to the game at Slough on Tuesday night remember it is played at Windsor and Eton's ground as they ground share with Windsor. You can see road directions at the following link. The prices quoted are normal league prices but I think tomorrow night is cheaper and it is Kids for a Quid.

If you are going by trains they go from Waterloo and Clapham Junction and depart Waterloo at 28 and 58 minutes past the hour and take 54 minutes, from Clapham Junction it's 38 and 08 past the hour and takes the same time so the recommended trains would be 17:28 or 17:58 from Waterloo or 17:38 or 18:08 from Clapham Junction. When you get to the other end it's about a 30 minute walk so it may be worth getting a cab but in case you wish to walk it you can see a map here. Looking at the map if you follow the orange road to the right of the screen and all the way to the top it takes you to the station call Windsor and Eton Riverside.

For the journey home trains depart the station at 22:23 and 22:53 and are direct to Clapham Junction taking 45 minutes the 23:28 requires one change (at Staines) and takes 61 minutes. If you get the 22:28 or 22:58 lots of trains go from Clapham Junction back towards Earlsfield and Wimbledon.

21/02/05 - Events This Week

Looks like a number of this weeks events could be decided by the weather but if it stays ok we could have 3 football matches and 2 events.

The games are of course our trip to Slough tomorrow and the home League game against Corinthian Casuals on Saturday as well as on Thursday night the Under 18's are due to be at home to leatherhead.

The two events are both music related, the Band night takes place on Friday night with tickets available on the door and then after the game on Saturday Everstrong will be playing a full set in the main bar so hang around after the match and have a listen.

On Wednesday night the bar will be open for the Champions League games but I may pay a trip to Croydon Athletic to watch them play Walton & Hersham.

20/02/05 - Well Done The Ladies

A big well done to the AFC Wimbledon ladies side who put on the Valentines Ball on Friday evening. The event was to raise funds for Princess Alice Hospice, Cancer Research and the AFC Wimbledon Stadium Fund by the end of the evening over £4,000 had been raised to be split between the three organisations.

Not only was lots of money raised but also a good time was had by the people who attended.

20/02/05 - Target Top Six

The figures for Target top six have been updated after yesterdays results and a fair amount of change again, click on the link above to see the revised figures.

20/02/05 - Who's Goal Is It Anyway?

It Looks like our goal from yesterday at Hastings could be one for the dubious goal panel and maybe shouldn't have gone down to Mark Cooper after all.

The usual rules for dubious goals is that the ball making contact on the way through changed the direction of the ball into a goal. Was this the case yesterday? Using the Donsonline goal coverage I have trimmed the clip down to just past the goal and slowed it down you can view this version by clicking here. this file is 2.6mb and is in windows media format. Now lets look at who should get the goal.

Mark Cooper -
  • The header was going in anyway even if Andrew didn't touch it
  • He's a Defender and doesn't get many goals.

  • Andrew Martin -
  • The ball clearly changed direction after he headed it.
  • If Andrew hadn't headed it one of the defenders would of blocked it on the line?
  • Once you have considered the evidence vote in the poll on who the goal should be awarded to by clicking here.

    19/02/05 - Draw At Hastings

In Wintry conditions we came away with a 1-1 draw at Hastings. They took the lead early in the first half when they scored direct from a free kick in the second half we had the better of the play maybe helped by having the strong wind behind us and the scores were level when Mark Cooper headed home a Ryan Gray corner.

    19/02/05 - Hastings Matchday Service

This afternoon we play Hastings United in the League and I will be providing the Matchday Updates service via the link at the top of the page, it should start from around 14:30 when I have the team news. So if you cant make the game I hope it helps in keeping you up to date with the action.

If your going by train the nearest station is "Ore" and from London you will need to get a train from either Charing Cross or Waterloo East it looks like the best time train to get could be the 11:48 from London Waterloo East this is due to get to Hastings at 13:17 and then the 13:24 to Ore which arrives at 13:27 you can see the station on the following map with the ground just to the north of it

    17/02/05 - Poll Question

In case you haven't seen it I have a new poll question running and it based on the discussion topic of possible price increases for next season that was spoke about at the open meeting on Saturday. A suggested figure of 10% was made, if this was to be implemented would it alter your attendance at games? to vote please click below: -

    Vote Here

    16/02/05 - Target Top Six

The figures for Target Top Six have been updated but just a point I would like to make, using the "Complex" figures before yesterday's game it was suggested that for us to finish as Champions as further "13 points" was needed after our victory last night and additional 3 points you would assume that only 10 points was needed but it is now showing 11 points are required.

The reason for this is that it calculates the results to the end of season for all teams taking into account past results so along the line last night results have made a change to one or more of the projected results before the end of season and this is why the figure has only gone down by 2 points and not 3. I hope this helps in trying to work the figures out.

I have also updated the animation so if you enjoy them please go and have have a watch.

A full update will be undertaken on Wednesday with the Animation, Previous Man Of The match result and an update for Target Top Six, but for now the league table makes nice reading.

13/02/05 - Poll Result, New Question

The result of the question that has been running over the past week of "Will You Attend the Crystal Palace Surrey Senior Cup Game?" is as follows: -

    1. Yes 43 (74%)
    2. Maybe Depends On Palace Side 3 (5%)
    3. No The Surrey Senior cup isn't important 1 (2%)
    4. No Cant Make it 11 (19%)

Following yesterday's (Saturday's) open meeting I have added a new question. I wasn't at the meeting but I understand one of the discussion points was about admission prices for the 2005/06 season and a suggestion of a 10% price increase. If this was to happen, (I would guess an increase in adult season ticket prices from £200 to £220 for a main stand and £150 to £165 for a terrace ticket. This is guesswork on my behalf by the way.) would it effect your attendance at games?

12/02/05 - Cruise Control For Croydon

This afternoon is was the case of a very relaxed afternoon as we won 3-0 against Croydon F. C. Jon-Barrie Bates opened the scoring before Andrew Martin scored his first AFC Wimbledon goal after converting a cross from a Mark Jones cross before leon scored a lovely goal in the second half.

Croydon didn't have a shot on target all game and on this showing you could see why they are bottom of the table.

On the downside both Richard Butler and Jay Conroy both went off injured although Richard's looked to be a precaution, Jay's was a lot more serious as he was taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle. With just 6 minutes remaining Ryan Gray and a Croydon player were both shown the red card following a scuffle these were the first red cards that we have seen in our matches this season.

The full results are below but Horsham and Walton Won whilst Met Police drew at home to Leatherhead.

The draw has given us a trip to Windsor as this is where Slough Town of the Ryman's premier division play. The date that games are due to be played are on the 22nd or 23rd of February but Slough have a home league game on the Tuesday and already have a bit of a fixture backlog so it may not be played on these dates. The full draw is as follows: -

It looks like two dates of our games have been changed, the first one that has defiantly been changed is the Surrey Senior Cup tie that has been moved from Tuesday 1st to Wednesday 2nd March. The second game that looks like it will be moved is the Easter trip to Banstead that was due to be played on Saturday 26th March this is listed on the Ryman site as being moved to the Friday afternoon 25, this is something that people had asked about due to the Northern Ireland Vs England game on the Saturday.

On Thursday The Dons Trust will be 3 years old, and when you think back to that Sunday afternoon when the launch was held at a packed Wimbledon Theatre that only a few months later we would begin the Adventure of AFC Wimbledon.

February is always an extra busy time for people involved in the Dons Trust as the vast majority of renewals take place at this time of year.

Membership runs for 12 months and you need to renew before the end of that month so if you joined of the launch date of the 10th February you have until 28th February to renew your membership. Membership costs £25 but every penny of this is put to good use as it goes towards promoting The Dons Trust and AFC Wimbledon in the Community.

These Community events range from after school football classes to attending community wide events. The trust is also responsible for the running of kids teams from the ages of Under 8's to Under 15's. Add in the courses that run during school holidays for both boys and girls from 5 years old and upwards, and the Ladies Team who play at level 2 of ladies football and competed well against one of the best teams in England and you can see what a great job everyone does.

If you are due to renew soon you will get a renewal letter in the post and Membership cards are also being produced for all members as well. Just to remind you The Dons Trust is the body who overseas everything to do with AFC Wimbledon so you will be an owner of our great football club. The Americas Dons website will be tracking the progress during the period so please have a look and lets hope that the team winning on the pitch will make up for them going hungry.

    06/02/05 - Bryco Cup

The draw for the next round of the Bryco cup is usually announced once all the games have been completed 2 matches are still to be played in the 4th round this Tuesday should of seen Walton & Hersham play Braintree and Slough Town Vs Salisbury City but with Walton & Hersham drawing in the FA Trophy yesterday they now have a replay on Tuesday night, and no date is known yet for the rescheduled Bryco cup game although it looks like it may be played on Tuesday 15th or Wednesday 16th.

    05/02/05 - Set Piece Draw

A game that was in the end settled by two first half set pieces first a direct free kick that Steve Sargent fired into the top right hand corner we leveled the score when Andrew Martin was fouled in the box and a penalty was converted. Ryan Gray stepped up and fired high into the top right hand corner.

In the second half the best chance fell to Leatherhead but somehow they appeared to hit the inside of both posts but the effort stayed out.

After the disappointing performance last week this was a lot better but Leatherhead should also be given credit for a decent performance that could well give other clubs also chasing promotion trouble.

From the station it's about a 10 minute walk. On the journey home trains are every 15 minutes as you can change at Sutton on the way home.

    01/02/05 - Progression In Bryco

After the disappointment of a 0-0 draw on Saturday we were back to an all system go entertaining game tonight as we twice came from behind before breaking down a tough Cray side.

Looking at the league table before the game it was going to be clear that Cray would be hard to beat and it looked like that would be more of the case when they scored a cracker of a free kick in the first half so 1-0 down at half time but the second half was a different story.

between the 70th and 80th minute 4 goals were scored first Ryan Gray leveled the score on 70 minutes with a free kick as good as the earlier one, then 3 minutes later Cray were back in the lead with a goal that somehow ended up in the back of the net via David Gray. We were back level 4 Minutes later when Richard Butler scored and then another 3 minutes later the player who may have been most disappointed about saturday's result due to his penalty miss Rob Ursell scored the winner.

Somehow the ref managed to play 7 minutes injury time and in the last two of them the Cray Keeper came up to try and get onto corners or free kicks but with no luck so we progress. So a lot better performance than Saturday and reward for the 772 people that went to Kingsmeadow to watch it.
