Round Up - Wayne Brown has gone on loan from Ipswich to Watford
for a month. This means that he could be up against us when we play
Watford at Selhurst Park on February 19th. Wayne has said that he
wanted to join Wimbledon but both clubs couldn't agree on a fee so
he returned to Ipswich where he played in the cup game against Dagenham
and Redbridge. This weekend we play Manchester City on Sunday afternoon
live on regional TV in both London and Manchester areas don't forget
the game starts at 2:15. With us having a free Saturday their are
a couple of things going on. A group of Dons are off to York City's
Fans United Day which you can read about here
while in Wimbledon to promote the official launch of the Dons Trust
that takes place on Sunday 10th February at Wimbledon theater an open
top bus will be going round the Wimbledon area once again more information

House Of Commons Debate - On Wednesday morning the MP for Wimbledon
Roger Casel, was host of a debate in the House Of Commons regarding
funding of football with the main subject being the future of Wimbledon.
The debate lasted for 1 hour 30 minutes and apparently was very good.
The full transcript of it can be read by clicking here

So What Next?
The football league have said that they will first sit down with Wimbledon
to discuss the options with them. It's believed that first of all
it will be discussed at one of the Leagues monthly meetings the next
one being on February 14th. It may be too late for it to be discussed
at this meeting so March may be a more likely candidate. A full Football
League EGM may be called where all club chairman would vote or a new
meeting of the executive committee may be called. Taking all this
into account it could be the end of the season before we know an outcome.

Points Thrown Away At Walsall - A night when we took the lead
through Shipperley but then conceded a goal at the end of each half
to see us go down 2-1. The team had 4 changes with Holloway, Darlington,
Connolly and Hughes all out and being replaced by Jupp, Hawkins, Agyemang
& McAnuff. On the bench was Alan Kimble and Gareth Ainsworth but Gareth
didn't get a run out. Towards the end of the first half Damien Francis
did a tackle that saw him booked but he appeared to pick up a dead
leg in the incident and ended up being replaced by Chris Willmott
early in the second half when Chris went in defence and Trond moved
into the midfield. Jupp was replaced by Kimble and him and Hawkins
swapped sides and late on Patrick was replaced by Lionel Morgan. A
disappointing result by a team that seemed like they wanted it more.

Sent Back To The Football League - The three man panel have
sent the request by Wimbledon Football Club back to the Football League
and ruled that "The League were wrong to reject the proposal on two
previous occasions" I thought the hearing would give us a yes they
can or no they cant more to Milton Keynes but this means that at the
moment we cant move but will be looked again at by the football league.

the announcement will be made at 1:00. The report is believed to have

at 12:00. For speed as soon as I know the result I will post in the
message board are and then update in here. |

29/01/2002
Arbitration Update - 10:45 No News As Yet - The word is that
their is a high chance that an announcement will be made today, but
someone has just phone the Football Association and they have said
that at present they are "deadlocked" and therefore it is unlikely
that anything will be announced today. Under the rules if a decision
cannot be reached the chair of the panel (who is believed to be Charles
Hollander QC) makes the decision. |
|
28/01/2002
Tuesday Night Preview - On Tuesday we travel to the West Midlands
where we have had good results against both West Brom and Birmingham
to take on Walsall. Walsall are 3rd from bottom in the league but
have a new manager after the strange sacking of ray Graydon and had
a very good cup win at Charlton on Saturday. Walsall will be out to
impress the new manager and start their push for safety while a win
for us could mean a play-off push to the end of the season.
|
|
27/01/2002 Suspension For Tuesday Night - With yesterdays game being a victim of the weather the one match ban that Michael Hughes was due to serve for 5 bookings moves over to Tuesday's trip to Walsall. Also suspended for Tuesday's game is Darren Holloway who has also got 5 bookings. |

Arbitration Update - News Next Week? - It look's like it will
be next week now before any announcement will be made. It looks like
the decision has been made and they are now just waiting for the official
written version to be produced. On the section of Arbitration
on The
FA web site it states 5. Award - (a) The Tribunal shall make
its award (the Award) in writing and, unless all parties otherwise
agree in writing, shall state the reasons for its decision. The Award
shall be dated and signed by the Tribunal. |

Portsmouth News - Tickets are available for tomorrow's game
on the day priced at £15.00 for adults £8.00 for kids. They have major
selection problems with three players out suspended and another three
out injured, on the suspended list is Peter Crouch. For us it looks
like Jermaine Darlington will join David Connolly on the injured list
after both went off last week. |
|
24/01/2002 Into Extra Time at Arbitration - So now we just wait for the announcement with no idea when it's going to be, although on Monday the Evening Standard did say that it would be announced on Friday. |
|
24/01/2002
Roberts On Loan - Andy Roberts has joined Norwich City on a
months loan and the move may become permanent. Andy is out of contract
at the end of this season and Terry Burton says "we are unable to
negotiate any new contracts at present" He also adds "We have a recall
option on him if we need to and I would have no concerns about putting
him in the side should the need arise as he has never let us down
in the past." |
|
24/01/2002 Reserve Round Up - The reserves lost 2-1 at Coventry last night with our goal being scored in the 70th minute by Paul Robinson. Alex Tapp was sent off for the dons for two yellow cards. |
|
23/01/2002
Arbitration Update - But No Verdict - They latest news from
the League is that the panel have so far failed to come to a decision.
They have been meeting as we know for the last 3 days and looks more
likely that no announcement will be made today. |
|
23/01/2002
Connolly Injury Not Looking Good - On Saturday David Connolly
limped off the pitch as their were no stretchers about! but it looks
like his ankle injury may be as bad as a fracture and therefore he
could be out for a while. Lets just hope it is bad bruising or something
and he is back soon. |
|
23/01/2002 Day 3 Of The Arbitration - No news as of yet but soon as anything is known I will let you know on here. |
|
22/01/2002
Plans For Plough Lane? - The Evening Standard has a report
today about talks that have taken place between Merton council and
a developer about building a Football Stadium and Hotel on the Plough
Lane Site. One of the ideas is that the unnamed company would buy
the land and build the stadium and then lease it back to Wimbledon
Football Club the full story can be read on the Evening Standard Website here.
|
|
22/01/2002
Day 2 Of The Arbitration - The hearing is continuing in a
hotel in London, one of the suggestions is that the three day process
is split into a day for each side to put over their points and then
the third day for the panel to come to a decision. Although the decision
may be announced this week the Evening Standard is reporting that
it may be delayed until after the live television game against Manchester
City on 3rd February. |
|
22/01/2002
Heald Out On Loan - Paul Heald has been loaned to Sheffield
Wednesday and may even see action tonight in their 2nd leg Worthington
Cup Semi Final at Blackburn along with other ex-don Efan Ekoku. Paul
is from the Sheffield Area and started off at Sheffield United. Although
he started 4 games for us he didn't play in any cup games.
|
|
21/01/2002
Something Strange About Saturday - Although not mentioned in
any of the match reports that I read since the weekend it looks like
we played against 10 men for the last 20 minutes on Saturday. Birmingham
had already used all 3 of their substitutes when David burrows picked
up an injury and had to leave the field. Another Strange thing was
that the ref was the one who we had when we played away at Norwich
just before Christmas and he sent off Kelvin and Jermaine.
|
|
21/01/2002
Day 1 Of The Arbitration - As you most probably know today
is the first day of the Arbitration hearing into the planned relocation
of The Dons to Milton Keynes. The process is expected to last for
3 days but we don't know if the results will be announced straight
away or if their will be a period of time when the panel of David
Dein (Arsenal), Douglas Craig (York City) and Douglas Hollander QC
will take the evidence of the club and the football league away with
them before announcing the outcome. Although it is believed to be
being held in London no venue is known. |
|
20/01/2002
Birmingham Reflection - So after years of bad treatment in
the press they all of a sudden seem to have woken up and it's almost
a case that we are "Media Darlings". Some of our biggest critics seem
to now realise that we play good football and win games on merit.
The News Of The world today went as far as saying that out of the
two teams we are more likely to make the top 6 and that we deserved
our victory. The only downside of yesterday was the fact that both
David Connolly and Jermaine Darlington went off injured with Jermaine
needing a piggyback from Physio Steve Allen!! Lets hope they are not
to badly injured. |

Your Never Beat The Wombles - I think Birmingham must be fed
up of playing us in the league today we went up their and played an
"Inform" team and still managed to come away with the points. In the
first half we played really well passing the ball about and although
we had a few chances didn't really look like we would break our 2002
scoring duck. In the second half City came at us a lot more but still
neither side looked like they would score then disaster struck when
City were awarded a penalty. The player ran up but the last reported
sighting of it was that by Sunday afternoon it should be docking with
the International Space Station. It wasn't even close to going in.
Then out of nothing Michael Hughes hit the ball and it seemed to spin
in all directions and with dip on it as well next thing it was over
the keepers head and sitting in the back of the net 1-0 Dons. This
stunned Birmingham and seemed to affect their game but we continued
to play well then with a few minutes left the ball was played out
to Patrick Agyemang who smacked the ball under the keeper and into
the back of the net 2-0 Dons and game over. All I can say is when
can we play Birmingham next. |
|
19/01/2002
Team News - Both Kelvin Davis and Jermaine Darlington have
completed their suspensions and so should be back in the team today
stepping aside is will be Ian Feuer and Peter Hawkins. Gareth Ainsworth
hasn't been included in the squad as he is still not match fit.

Middlesbrough Review - The hard facts is that if you don't
matter how well you play but last night was one of these frustrating
times when almost everyone says how well we played but we still went
out of the cup. After the first match Steve Mclaren told us how Boro
would have the advantage at the Riverside due to the large crowd,
well he got that wrong!! The only change was Neal Ardley replacing
Jobi who dropped down to the bench and Gareth dropped out of the 16.
Boro started strongly and within the opening minutes they hit the
bar. On Three minutes a ball was played through and picked up by Noel
Whelan he looked offside but put the ball past Ian Feuer to put them
ahead. After seeing the goal on TV it still looks like he was offside
but the goal stood. We took a while to find our shape but we had a
couple of chances. At the start of the second half we came out all
guns blazing and but for a brilliant save we could of been level.
We continued to push forward and had a number of chances but the ball
just didn't seem to go in. With about 15 minutes left the ball was
played across the box and it looked like he couldn't do anything but
score but somehow the ball went wide. On radio 5 after the game Middlesbrough
Goal Keeper Mark Crossley said that just before the ball reach David
Connolly it took a horrible bobble and would explain why he missed.
With 8 minutes left a Middlesbrough player played the ball into the
box where no Boro player was but the ball deflected off Trond Andersen
and then got directed past Ian Feuer by Kenny Cunningham. A 2-0 scoreline
flattered Boro but they go on to play Manchester United and we don't.

Defeat For Reserves - The reserves lost 4-0 tonight against
a good West Ham side. Gareth Ainsworth started but went off after
about 65 minutes. The game was 1-0 to west ham at half time but they
extended their lead about 5 minutes into the second half. The final
two goals were scored just before the end of the match with the third
being a cracking drive that dipped and spins round the keeper and
the fourth a tap in after the ball was saved at first.
|
|
14/01/2002 Reserves In Action - The reserves play at Kingstonians tonight (7:30 kick off) against West Ham and we could have quite a strong team out both Gareth Ainsworth and Alan Kimble should be putting in appearances as well as the likes of Chris Willmott and Lionel Morgan. |
|
13/01/2002
Dates For your Diary - The game against Watford has been rearranged

The Return Of Wild Thing - Even after only 45 minutes of reserves
football it was a real surprise to see Gareth Ainsworth involved in
the squad, so when he was named on the bench there was a lot of excitement
going round the ground. With 30 minutes left of the game Gareth made
his entrance it was one of the few highlights of the second half of
our game with Burnley. Once again just like Tuesday night we were
the better team in the first half and had more than enough chances
to take the lead but we went in 0-0. The second half Burnley were
better but failed really to trouble us and the match faded out to
a 0-0 draw. |

You don't need to put a stamp on it if you are placing them in the

11/01/2002
Saturday's Match - On Saturday we play the team that I think
has given us the most problems over the past season and a half. So
far we have played Burnley 3 times and failed to win any of them.
For the game we will still be missing Kelvin Davis and Jermaine Darlington
as they are suspended. With us only drawing against Middlesbrough
it now means they will be available for the game away at Birmingham
on Saturday week. |

09/01/2002 Reserve Results - The reserves won 2-1 tonight after being 1-0 down at Half Time. At Half Time Gareth Ainsworth was replaced by Lionel Morgan and we score 2 goals within a minute the first was a penalty from Paul Robinson after he was pulled down, the second was scored by Ansah Owusu from close range. |
|
09/01/2002 Reserves In Action - The reserves are away at Charlton tonight and two players are making long awaited returns from injury. First Alan Kimble is back and also Gareth Ainsworth makes his comeback lets hope that all goes well and we can see them both back in the first team squad very soon. |

Go On Guess The Score - OK it was 0-0 but for a Wimbledon Vs
Boro game I thought it was very good. We clearly had the better of
the first half with Kevin Cooper hitting the post with a powerful
shot, and then Neil Shipperley having a penalty appeal turned down
(although Alan Hansen of Match Of The Day thought it was) and then
missing an effort from 6 yards. In the second half both teams had
chances but Boro had the better of them. So the team that will Play
Manchester United in the next round is still not known.

|
08/01/2002 Twenty Five Years On - How strange that 25 years to the day we should be playing Middlesbrough in the same round of the cup. 8th January 1977 we played at Plough lane and a 0-0 draw was played out before we lost 1-0 in the replay. Let's hope that the results turn out as the game did last year (but without the replay) |
|
07/01/2002 Tuesday Night Team News - A couple of changes will have to be made for the Boro game as both Jermaine Darlington and Kelvin Davis are suspended following their sending off's against Norwich. In either case it could well be one of two players who come in, in goal we could see either Paul Heald or Ian Feuer and at Left back we could have Alan Kimble or Peter Hawkins. |

07/01/2002
Tuesday Night Travel News - As you maybe aware on Monday and
Tuesday South
West Trains staff are holding a strike and therefore their service
will be limited. Based on Information on their Website their will
be trains calling at London Waterloo at 55 and 25 minutes past the
hour arriving at Clapham Junction at 03 and 33 minutes past the hour
trains from Surbiton and Wimbledon will be at 39 and 09 from Surbiton
and 47 and 17 from Wimbledon to arrive at Clapham Junction at 54 and
24 past the hour. Once at Clapham Junction you can get a Selhurst/Thornton
Heath train where their should be no problems. After the game it may
be better to go back to East Croydon and get a tram across to Wimbledon.

|
06/01/2002 FA Cup 4th Round Draw- The Draw for the 4th round of the FA Cup will see us play At Selhurst against Manchester United. The game is due to be played on Saturday 26th January 2001 If we fail to beat Middlesbrough we could well play Watford in our rearranged league game on this date.. Tuesday's match will be one of the featured games on Match Of The Day that starts at 10:30pm |
|
06/01/2002
More FA Cup News - The draw for the 4th round of the cup is
tonight at about 8:55 and I will bring details of who we are due to
play if we can beat Middlesbrough on Tuesday night. In Orients victory
yesterday two Dons were involved Wayne Gray (who scored their third)
and Mikele Leigertwood was in defence, another ex don involved in
the 4th round is Steve Cotterill who's Cheltenham Town side won this
afternoon against Oldham. |
|
05/01/2002
FA Cup Round Up - Whilst we might not have been in action today
a few ex-dons were Wayne Brown made his Ipswich Debut for the season
and although they went behind to Daggenham and Redbridge they ended
up winning 4-1 another team to go behind were Charlton to Blackpool
but in the end Jason Euell scored the winner to keep them in the hat.
The result of the day must have been at Portsmouth where Leyton Orient
went behind to an own goal but then scored 4 goals with Wayne Gray
getting one of the goals. For the record the Pools panel gave it as
a "Home Win" so lets hope that we stick to that when the game is played.

David Nielsen Moves To Norwich - David Nielsen has agreed personal
terms with Norwich and therefore his loan move has become a permanent
one. The initial fee is in the region of £200,000 but there are add
on's based on appearances and if Norwich get promoted.
|
|
04/01/2002
New Date For Boro - As mentioned earlier a new date for the
Boro game has been set for Tuesday 8th January 2001 the advance
weather forecast is better for between now and then so it should mean
the game can go ahead. Although it is a midweek game we have in the
past won midweek cup games so we don't have to fear the hoo-doo continuing.

Pitch Inspection For Saturday - With the cold snap still in
place a decision has been made that their will be a pitch inspection
on Friday with regards to the cup game on Saturday. At present the
pitch is covered but with the drop of the temperature overnight the
thawing process during the day is being reduced. Looking at the forecast
for tomorrow and Saturday it looks better with an above zero temperature
and lets hope that the pitch gets the all clear. |

Nielsen Off To Norwich - It looks like this week David Nielsen
will complete a permanent move to Norwich City. The initial fee is
believed to be £200,000 but this fee will rise after a number of appearances
and if Norwich go up. The fee was agreed when David first went to
Norwich and although may seem a bit on the low side he's out of contract
at the end of the season. |

Preston Goals - Their are two ways to see the goals from the
Preston game. The goals can be downloaded from the official
site or from the person who came up with the brilliant score
finder you can see the goals in animation.
The animation is brilliant and doesn't need to be downloaded well
worth checking out. |

More Ground Rumors - Strange story in The
Sun Today, it reports that we are considering a ground share at
Kingstonians while a new ground is built in the Kingston area. Kingsmeadow
has a ground capacity of 6,300 but I'm not sure if it has a League
standard safety certificate. The story says that talks started about
4 weeks ago. I will of course keep an eye on this story.

Game Off - The Portsmouth site has confirmed that the game
today has been called off. The official statement is as follows: - "Pompey's match with Wimbledon has been called off because of a frozen pitch. Referee Keith Hill carried out a 10.00 am inspection and said: "The pitch was frozen completely, including the goalmouths, particularly where there is no grass, and there was no chance of it thawing even before early afternoon. The game will now be rearranged at a later date." |
