Another good thing about playing Manchester City is that the press
seem to think that they are still a Premiership club so they "Quality"
Sunday Papers give you a match report on the game. First up is the
Sunday Times
So, faced by a Manchester City side that has swept all before
them at Maine Road this season, the Dons revelled in romping to
an emphatic victory that Burton ranked as arguably the best he has
enjoyed since taking charge at the start of last season. More.
The Telegraph view was:-
Indeed, City were fortunate that the margin of victory was not
greater against a Wimbledon side who got their smash and grab tactics
just right - and finished convincing winners thanks to two goals
apiece from David Connolly and substitute Neil Shipperley. More.
Another report that is well worth a read is one from a Manchester
City point of view and it's "From The Terraces" Web Site.
Wimbledon, however and I say this in all sincerity were fantastic.
The Dons backroom staff had clearly done their homework and their
players carried out instructions to the letter for the entire ninety
minutes. More.
The Sunday Mirror view of events was as follows: -
A brace from David Connolly
and two late strikes from sub Neil Shipperley gave Wimbledon their
most impressive win of the season against Kevin Keegan's shambolic
City. More.
Manchester Online Website added the following:-
Wimbledon could, and should, have had that killer third in the
43rd minute when Weaver made a hash of Tiattoâs back pass. More.
The Soccernet Website that covers The Daily Mail, London Evening
Standard and ESPN has both a Half Time report and a Full time report:-
Wimbledon stunned Manchester City with a scintillating 4-0 victory
at Maine Road.

Terry Burton was interviewed by Radio 5 after the game you can here
what he had to say by clicking

I don't know about being my Birthday but I think most Wimbledon
Fans will be checking the scores tonight thinking that it's their
Birthday as well!! 4-0 at Manchester City with goals from Neil Shipperley
and David Connolly (both getting two each).
With the return of Kenny Cunningham to the side are we on the verge
of the complete team that we know we have?
The Poll for the Man Of The Match Vote is now up so click below
to vote.
It's my Birthday today (for the record I am 31 years of age today)
and yesterday was my last day at work as I was made redundant after
12 years working their (I have known about it for 3 months and am
really happy about it) with me having more time itmustbedons.com
will be getting back to having the full service that you all deserve
so thanks for sticking with me over the past 4 weeks.
Next weekend's game against Walsall will now kick off on Saturday
6th October 2001 at 12:00 due to the England game starting at 3pm.
The team are at Manchester City today in what could end up being
a multi goal thriller. I haven't made the trip north today but the
good news is that Kenny Cunningham could make his first appearance
of the season.
The link for the audio commentary for the Manchester City game is
available by clicking here
or if you cant get audio and want the text feed from the BBC click

On Tuesday night we drew with Millwall 2-2 the dons goals came from
David Connolly and Wu Tang. David Connolly went off injured and
could be a doubt for today's game.
The result of the West Brom Man Of The Match Poll is as follows:
-
Wayne Brown 8 votes 35%
Kelvin Davis 4 votes 17%
Darren Holloway 4 votes 17%
Neil Shipperley 3 votes 13%
Michael Hughes 3 votes 13%

After the sending off yesterday Gary Megson the West Brom manager
has said that if it had been one of his players sent off he would
have been none to happy with the ref.
Terry Burton reckons to a certain degree the sending off helped
us. He said that the sending off spoilt the game and limited our
attacking chances but we defender really well.
22/09/2001
A dramatic end to each half at West Brom in the 43rd minute of the
first half David Connolly was sent off for two bookable offenses.
The first booking on 39 minutes was for a late challenge and then
after being called offside after being clear through he slotted
the ball past the keeper after the whistle had gone. The ref knew
it would be his second booking and should have just had a word but
produced the second yellow card and the Red card as well.
Then in the 93 minute of the game Kevin Cooper ran at the defence
his shot was saved by the keeper by came out to Neil Shipperley
who was about 2 yards away from goal and he forced the ball in.
For us to have been down to 10 men for over half the match this
was a brilliant result.
The Man Of The Match vote for the West Brom game is now up and you
can click below to vote.
If you cant make the trip to West Brom today the following links
should help you.

An interesting week has just passed the team managed a 4-0 win away
at Crewe and the Sending off's of Paul Heald and Darren Holloway
have been overturned. Darren's red card has been given to Chris
Willmott.
A report in the Express newspaper said that the Dons were up for
sale but this has been denied.
The result of the Sheffield Wednesday man Of The Match vote is as
follows.
Andy Roberts 13 votes 52%
Wayne Brown 5 votes 20%
Michael Hughes 4 votes 16%
Chris Willmott 3 votes 12%

Once again It is likely that the site will not have an update
during the week as I will be working in Bournemouth but I will
try and get to a Internet Cafe to provide updates.
Terry Burton has said that if a bid comes in for Michael Hughes
he would let him go it is believed that the price could be as low
as £500,000. Terry also said that the protests at matches is getting
to him and the players but understands why it is going on.
I didn't do a man of the match poll for the Portsmouth game as I
wasn't about but if anyone wants to vote for a player please click
here and send it by e-mail.
Don't forget you can vote for the Sheffield Wednesday Man Of The
Match in the normal way by clicking the following way.
And if I don't get a chance to do an update following Tuesday's

things like that please take it to e-mail or to different sites.

Another draw but this time a 1-1 scoreline against Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday took the lead on the stroke of half time but Michael Hughes
scored a cracker of a goal about 15 minutes into the second half.

After the events of this week Football doesn't seem as important
as it did before as with the vast majority of people round the world
my thoughts are with everyone who cares about life and the needless
destruction of one of the most incredible skylines in the world.
Elsewhere quite a strange week for the Dons 3-0 up against Portsmouth
at Selhurst Park only to be pegged back to a 3-3 draw. Darren Holloway
was sent off when the fouled and resulting penalty for their third
goal was conceded by Chris Willmott.
Terry Burton apparently has been considering his future as he feels
that the club is going through one of it worst times since he has
been their. The only thing the fans can do is during the game back
the team and Terry Burton 100% if we don't get back on winning ways
soon what was such a season of promise could turn into a lower half
of the table fight.
The result of the Watford Man Of The Match vote is as follows: -
Neil Shipperley 5 votes 26%
David Connolly 3 votes 16%
Paul Heald 2 votes 11%
Neal Ardley 2 votes 11%
Andy Roberts 2 votes 11%
Kevin Cooper 2 votes 11%
Ian Feuer 1 vote 5%
Darren Holloway 1 vote 5%
Jermaine Darlington 1 vote 5%
Sorry about no vote for the Portsmouth Game but a new one will open
after the Sheffield Wednesday game.

A 3-0 defeat at Watford and I don't even need to say that one of
the goals was scored by Marcus Gayle from a header as I am sure
you would of had a fair chance of guessing that.
The game turned on a ref decision late in the first half when Paul
Heald handled the ball outside the penalty box by the corner flag
and the ref sent him off. Watford then scored with almost the last
kick of the first half after Ian Feuer had replaced Jobi McAnuff.
If you wish to vote for Man Of The Match please click the following

Tonight sees us take on Watford in the ITV live digital game. If

One player who may make the team tonight is Dean Blackwell after
he played for the reserves after being out injured for ages.
A man of the match vote and details of the game will be posted after
I get home tonight.

Before I get into the news can I just say 100,000 thankyou's to
everyone who has visited the site I got a text message on Friday
telling me that I had reached 100,000 hits and I must say I was
really happy. When I started the site I never thought that it would
ever reach this level so one again THANKYOU.
Sorry for the lack of updates this week but at the moment I am working
down in Bournemouth on the south coast and it has taken me all week
to find the Internet Cafe.
So in the past week it looks like we tried to sign Igors Stepanovs
of Arsenal on a three month loan but the central defender turned
down the move.
Jobi McAnuff has signed a new three year deal with the dons another
youth player who has made it through to the first team He said "If
I can keep learning and listening, I know I can get better. I hope
to at least be on the bench regularly."
The reserves lost 4-2 to Coventry on Monday night at Kingstonians.
Michael Hughes scored Northern Irelands first goal on Wednesday
night in their 3-0 win over Iceland.
Sunday sees us take on Watford on the live ITV Digital game starting
at 6:15pm Kelvin Davis is hoping to be back between the sticks for
the game.
This site is a big fan of the Watford site BSAD if you wish to check
out their preview of the game click

Following yesterday's very good English victory over Germany it
was sad to hear that TV Commentator Brian Moore died. My thoughts
are with all his family.
Updates may be a bit sparse over the next few days as I will be
away from home but I will be trying to find a computer so I can
update with anything that may happen.
