Coventry Preview - Saturday gives us a chance to get revenge for the defeat that we suffered at Selhurst only a few weeks ago. Coventry had a good 2-0 win in the week (against Palace)and apparently it was their best performance of the season. Their manager Roland Nielsen talks about us saying "They played very well down there and it was a battling performance from us, but if you don't battle you have got no chance. Wimbledon are always a difficult team to assess because they go from good performances to bad performances. But we know it will be a difficult game for us tomorrow and we have to be up for it or we will be in trouble."
29/11/2001
Early Weekend Team News - For this weekend's game at Coventry it looks like both Hakan Mild and Mark Williams will be invaluable but we should see a start for Neal Ardley and may even be in central midfield with Trond Andersen.
28/11/2001
Reserve Game Thriller - The reserves won 4-3 in a friendly game against Leyton Orient this afternoon with goals from Gavin Bolger, Lionel Morgan, on loan trialist Arjan Ebbinge and Ansah Owusu.

27/11/2001
Reserve Game On Wednesday - On Wednesday Afternoon The reserves will play a game at Richardson Evans training ground against Leyton Orient. The game will start at 1:30 and Lionel Morgan should be in the starting line up.
27/11/2001
Willow Return But New Injury Worry - Mark Williams returned for the reserves on Monday night away at Spurs but went off after getting a knock on the same leg that he broke earlier in the season. The reserves drew 0-0 and lets hope that Mark will be back in the first team soon.

Defeat Against Wolves - In a very tight game the dons lost 1-0 to a late goal after Kenny Cunningham was adjudged to have backpassed the ball and a free-kick was awarded in the penalty box although this was blocked it fell to Dean Sturidge who finished from a tight angle. In the first half the ref seemed to book anything that moved and we ended up with 4 players being booked. Neil Shipperley had a chance with a close range header but this was straight at the keeper. In the second half Neal Ardley made a return but we were unable to score.

23/11/2001
PFA Strike Called Off - After the PFA had announced that any games with TV cameras present would not be played from 1st December 2001 (including our TV game on December 16th against Nottingham Forest) agreement has been reached between the Premier League and the PFA and therefore the strike has been called off.

More Awards For F.I.T.C - Once again our excellent F.I.T.C scheme has been rewarded with picking up a prestigious award the "Sportsmatch 2001" Awards. We came first in the Youth and also the overall section of the awards. Their is a full write up in Thursday's Daily telegraph and can be read here. Well Done to everyone involved in the schemes.
21/11/2001
Injury Update - With both Mark Williams and Neal Ardley back in full training it shouldn't be too long before they are involved in first team action. Last night Gareth Ainsworth said he hoped to be back by Christmas but then added next year atleast he still has can smile over this frustrating time of injuries he has gone through..

Another Draw - 2-2 against Walsall and once again we were twice in the lead. David Connolly scored both our goals but a goal just before Half Time and then a goal about 5 minutes from the end left us with just a point.
21/11/2001
Last Nights Update - Just a note to say that although last nights update was done prior to the game I was unable to upload due to the current problems with the Internet. You may have suffered problems yesterday and at some points access to my site couldn't be reached. I believe it is a BT problem even though I am not hosted on BT.

Hughes Linked With Glasgow Rangers - Michael Hughes has been linked with a possible move to Glasgow Rangers as their current left midfielder is out injured and could need an operation. No comment has been made from either side so it may turn into nothing.
20/11/2001
Mikele Off To The Orient - Promising Young Defender Mikele Ligertwood who has been on the verge of a first team run out has gone on a month's loan at Leyton Orient. This will see him play competitive games rather than just reserve games and he should start tonight in their game against Oxford United.
20/11/2001
Congratulations Dario - Just like to say Congratulations to Dario Gradi who tonight will complete his 1000th game in charge for Crewe a lot of people forget what part he played in the history of Wimbledon Football Club.
19/11/2001
Who's Watching Who? - Not only was the main stand full tonight with fans from both teams but the directors box was full with scouts. One player who may have been being watched was Andy Roberts who played for us in Defence. One of the more well known faces was Gordon Strachen who is Southampton Manager he appeared to be at the game with his wife but left 10 minutes before the end. I can only think he bought her along as he couldn't get in to see Harry Potter anywhere.!!
19/11/2001
Reserves Lose To A Good Young Arsenal Side - Although the only well know player that Arsenal used was Jermaine Pennant (who scored a nice free kick) they managed to win by 2 goals to 0. First half we were a bit flat and Lionel played out wide but in the second half he moved inside and we played a lot better especially once Adam Nowland came off the bench. Michael Thomas also came on for the closing minutes against his old club..
19/11/2001
Reserves In Action - Tonight the reserves play Arsenal at Kingstonians ground with a 7:30 kick off. It will be interesting to see if any of the players who have recently been injured make any sort of appearance if Damien Francis is not involved it could well see him taking part at some point tomorrow night against Walsall. It may be a bit early for Mark Williams as he only returned to training last week. Update - The team for tonight has Lionel Morgan in the staring 11 and Andy Roberts in the team as well the rest is the normal bunch of players that are in our 2nd XI.
18/11/2001
Reduction In Wage Bill Needed. - In the post match press conference yesterday Terry Burton again talked about the fact that the wage bill needs to be reduced the obvious way for this to be done would be a player sale and the rumors are that Michael Hughes could well be on the move but Terry said "We are looking to trim the squad because we have got quite a high wage bill. You just have to be patient. We've got a lot of players who are out of contract at the end of the season, so we might have to wait until then if nothing happens." The players believed to be out of contract at the end of this season include Michael Thomas, Ian Selley, Alan Kimble, Andy Roberts, Paul Heald and Gareth Ainsworth it will be interesting to see what players are not kept on. .
18/11/2001
Who's Car Is It Anyway? - Last night as we came on to the M25 on the outskirts of London we were passed by a car that clearly had Dons Fans in it. The reason we knew it was Dons was that above the number plate on the back in large yellow letters it had Shipperley on one side and Connolly on the other and under the number plate was Wimbledon FC. Has anyone else seen this car? the other thing I noticed was the number plate finished "ARD" could this be for Neal Ardley?

Another Point On The Road - The first half of this game was in the words of most people "the worst 45 minutes of football ever seen" but the second half and especially the last 20 minutes was very good. Barnsley took the lead early in the second half with a nicely worked move and finished by ex Palace player Bruce Dyer. But after bringing on ex Tyke Neil Shipperley for Jobi McAnuff we went big time attacking. It seemed like only time before we scored but we left it to just a couple of minutes from the end David Connolly played the ball across a crowded box and Kevin Cooper scored an almost identical goal to the one he got against Grimsby. Hakan Mild played the full game and picked up a booking as the game went on he settled better and looked useful by the end.
17/11/2001

2001 Kids Christmas Party - Sunday 9th December 2001 will see the Wimbledon Football Club Kids Christmas Party. The cost is £8.50 and it starts at 12:00 and goes on to 3:00. It will be at the David Lloyd centre in Raynes Park and as well as food and a disco. Wandle, Santa and some of the players will be there. 15/11/2001
Congratulations Ireland - Ireland this afternoon qualified for the 2002 World Cup even though they lost 1-0 due to a 90th minute goal. David Connolly played the full game although Kenny Cunningham remained on the bench. Lets hope they limit the celebrations as we need them both for Saturdays game at Barnsley.
15/11/2001
Good Luck Republic Of Ireland - This afternoon The Republic Of Ireland try to become the 31st country to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. It Looks like their will be some Wimbledon Interest in the game with David Connolly starting the game. Kenny Cunningham will be on the bench for the start of the game. They will be playing in front of about 112,000 fans and when you here stories that 60,000 fans were in the stadium 7 hours before the game starts it make you realise what a huge game it is.
14/11/2001
Hakan Mild Deal Completed And Squad Number - Hakan Mild has completed his move to Wimbledon and will be in the squad for the trip to Barnsley on Saturday. He has been allocated Squad Number 36.
14/11/2001
Dons Community Work Recognised - The Wimbledon Princes Trust Scheme this week reached the finals to find the best scheme in the country. Although it didn't win (this went to Leicester) it goes to show how good our Community Schemes are the other finalists were Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Derby County, Burnley and Crewe Alexandra.
14/11/2001
Early Republic Of Ireland Team News - With the Republic Of Ireland playing Iran in the second leg of their World Cup Play-off match Thursday afternoon (kick Off 2:00 GMT) the early team news is that David Connolly could well be in with a start if Nial Quinn is unable to play. Nial is suffering with a bad back and may mean he will miss the match in which the republic are 2-0 up.
13/11/2001
As Winter Comes In We Could Be Getting Mild - Latest news on the deal is that rather than pay the full fee we have managed to negotiate a nominal fee as in a few months time he would be a free agent. Terry Burton says "Whenever you can get hold of such a quality player on a virtual free it's very fortunate." "We've spoken to him and he's keen to come. We've agreed a nominal fee to compensate his club for losing him a few months early."
13/11/2001
Another Month for Brown - Wayne Brown has extended his loan deal for a further month at the end of this we will have three options 1) extend the deal to the end Of the season 2) Sign the Player 3) Let him return to Ipswich. Lets hope that we get either option 1 or 2.
13/11/2001
Swedish International Midfielder to Join? - Reports from Sweden say that we are close to signing Hakan Mild, the player that scored against England on Saturday in the International game. He currently plays for IFK Gothenburg and a fee has been agreed but we need to agree personal terms. He is rated at about £2 million pounds and is 30 years old.
13/11/2001
Reserves Back To Winning Ways - The Reserves put up a very good performance last night to come away from Southampton with a 2-0 victory last night. The goals came from Par Karlsson and Paul Robinson and were back to back goals with the second one coming from Southampton's restart of the game! We had a number of other chances to extend the lead including an Alex Tapp header! and a Dessie Byrne 35 yard shot.

Sheffield United Man Of The Match Vote - Don't forget the vote for the Man Of The Match in the Sheffield United game is still open, if you want to vote click below.

12/11/2001
No News On Wayne Brown - With Wayne Browns Loan deal about to finish their is no news as of yet about the deal being extended. One report says that a deal to the end of the season is on hold until the current wage bill is reduced.
12/11/2001
Reserves On The Road Again - The reserves make the trip to Southampton today and I would imagine that both Trond Andersen and Damien Francis should be in the line up. Trond may be looking to get a bit more match fitness so that he can start the game on Saturday away at Barnsley.
11/11/2001
England Under 19's Update - The England Under 19's won 3-1 against Hungary this afternoon and Lionel played all but the closing minutes. He didn't have as good a game as the other night but Hungary had marked him out as the main man. They now go on for a final qualifier over two legs against Lithuania.
11/11/2001
Lionel To Play Again - Lionel should once again play for the England Under 19's today. Following his performance the other day in the 4-1 victory I would expect that he will start the match at Barnsley FC against Hungary.
11/11/2001
Half Way There For David and Kenny - The Republic Of Ireland won 2-0 in the home game against Iran and now have a very good chance of making the world Cup finals next summer. Kenny Cunningham came on for the last 14 minutes of the match but David Connolly remained on the bench for the whole game. Lets hope they both get a run out in the week.
10/11/2001
Republic Of Ireland Play-Off News - Neither Kenny Cunningham or David Connolly are starting for the Republic Of Ireland in their game against Iran tonight. Part of the reason that Kenny may not be playing is due to the fact that I believe that he is one booking away from a ban and that would mean he would miss the away leg next week, Mick Mcarthy may have made the decision that it would be better if he plays the second leg only. If either of them play I will make an update on here.

Sheffield United Man Of The Match Vote - The man of the match vote for the Sheffield United game is now open please click below to vote.

More Selhurst Woe - Once again we are unable to win at Selhurst and once again it's an evening game. The dons should have gone in a couple up at half time after starting strongly but went in level at 0-0. Sheffield United took the lead and scored their first away goal in over 10 hours before Kevin Cooper scored with a couple of minutes to go to tie it up.
09/11/2001
Sheffield United Game Team News - With Both Kenny Cunningham and David Connolly on International duty we will have to make atleast two changes. Trond Andersen Could well come in at right back while up front it should be between Patrick Agyemang and David Nielsen for the starting place..
09/11/2001

More Lionel News - It turns out that last night Lionel went off after 62 minutes with cramp but his performance was good enough to get the Man Of The Match vote from Nigel Spackman of Sky TV.
08/11/2001
Wayne Brown & Paul Heald - Terry Burton will be talking to Ipswich Manager George Burley in the next few days about extending the loan deal of Wayne Brown for an additional month. Their is also talk that Terry may try and get the deal extended to the end of the season. It now turns out that it's Paul Heald who broke a finger and not Shane Gore. It happened in training and will see Paul out for about 6 weeks.
08/11/2001
Lionel On England Duty - Last night Lionel Morgan played for England Under 19's in a 4-1 European Qualifier victory. Although he didn't score he apparently played very well and set up the Second goal. Lionel was taken off before the end but this may have been because they have another game on Sunday.
07/11/2001
We've Got Trond Andersen - Last night Trond played for 60 minutes against Derby reserves this could mean that he play's some part of the match on Friday night. With Kenny Cunningham away on International duty we could see Trond at right back.
07/11/2001
Ian Feuer and Loan Updates - Ian Feuer who has been on loan at Derby County has been recalled following Shane Gore who has been 3rd choice keeper broke his finger during the reserve match at Derby. Wayne Brown who has been on loan from Ipswich for the last two months is due to return back to Ipswich early next week buts let hope that the deal is extended again.
07/11/2001
Another Defeat For The Reserves - Last night the reserves lost 2-1 at Derby. We were 2-0 down after 17 minutes but Paul Robinson scored a penalty to make it 2-1 and Derby had a penalty saved.
06/11/2001
Reserves In Action - Tonight the Dons reserves make the trip north to play Derby reserves at The Baseball Ground. Yes Derby still play their reserves games at their old ground. Our Team tonight will see starts for both Damien Francis and Trond Andersen let's hope this means they are both not far away from full first team returns..
05/11/2001
Youngsters Lead The Way - After last weeks brilliant clean sweep by the schoolboy sides of Crystal Palace this week they were up against Spurs. We came away with 3 Victories, 2 Draws and 2 Defeats the stars of the weekend being the Under 10's that were on the pitch at Half Time in the Grimsby Game. They managed a brilliant 7-2 victory with 6 different players getting on the score sheet Well done to everyone that played.
04/11/2001
Jobi for England? - One player that could be on the edge of some sort of England Call Up is Jobi McAnuff who has made a brilliant start to this season. At yesterday's game England Scout Ted Buxton (who also used to be a coach with us) was in attendance and with a lot of potential young England squads being involved next summer Jobi could be on the verge of representing them at some level.
04/11/2001
Farewell Plough Lane - Following the news that Safeway and Merton Council are to "Clean Up" Plough Lane, it turns out that the site will be demolished. Any body that has been their in about the last 18 months knows how it has been destroyed with different parts being set on fire. Their is no date set as of yet for when this will start and this doesn't mean that the site wont be turned into a stadium in the future. It will be a sad day once it goes as most of us have had many happy memories their.

Grimsby Report - After two cracking games that has only seen us come away with one point after scoring 5 goals it was nice to see us pick up all three points in what can only be described as a disappointing game. We won 2-1 with goals from Andy Roberts (first goal of the season) and Jobi McAnuff (who scored his second goal of the week). Once again we couldn't hold on to the 1-0 lead that we had at half time but managed to get an important second goal. People might say that it was a poor performance but the important thing to do is win games and if it means picking up points how we did today I will gladly take them.
03/11/2001
Bradford Man Of The Match - The result of the Bradford Man Of The Match vote is as follows: -
David Connolly 5 votes 38%
Kevin Cooper 3 votes 23%
Jobi McAnuff 2 votes 15%
Chris Willmott 1 vote 8%
Kelvin Davis 1 vote 8%
Michael Hughes 1 vote 8%

Grimsby Town Preview - Last season it was fair to say that Grimsby Town were one of our Bogey teams with draws both at Selhurst Park (2-2) when David Nielsen scored for Grimsby and also away (1-1). After the last two games where we have failed to come away with all three points it's important that we get back on winning ways today. We have been fortunate that most other teams have been dropping points so we can still get back in touch with the play-off places if we start getting the wins our attacking performances have deserved.
02/11/2001
Kenny Answers Questions - On the Official Site it's Kenny Cunningham's chance to answer questions that have been set by the fans.
01/11/2001
Injury Update - It looks like the first couple of players are about to return from Injury. On Tuesday Night David Nielsen came on as a sub and is now fully fit and it also looks like Trond Andersen could soon be back in the midfield for the Dons.
