As the season draws to a close and therefore the option to transfer players becomes available again rumours are starting again. Two players liked with leaving the Dons are Neal Ardley to Aston Villa and Jason Euell to Chelsea while on the in list could well be Dean Holdsworth who could be joining us from Bolton on a free transfer.

This time last year (4:55 Sunday afternoon) we were at Bradford after that game Egil Olsen left the club the Dons had two games left and we all know that we were relegated. Lunchtime today Crystal Palace who also have two games left sacked ex Wimbledon coach Alan Smith.

Sorry about no post match write up last night but after standing in the pouring rain for over 2 hours yesterday I wanted to make sure that I didn't go down with a worse cold than what I have already.

A 1-1 draw at Fulham that end's our play-off chances most of us would have been happy with a point prior to the game but when you are 1-0 with 2 minutes left and the the "champions" player slips in the rain and the ref awarded the weakest of penalties you come away disappointed. We should always remember that the Champions of any division are not allowed to lose their last Home Game of the season. Our Goal came about after Jason Euell had tried to round the keeper but was pulled down, Jason took the penalty himself and scored. On the whole I thought we were the better team in the second half and looked more likely to score.

Next years Away Kit looked very nice and most people seemed in favour of it.

While Kenny didn't play at all last night for the Republic of Ireland in their 3-1 victory over Andorra Trond Andersen played the full 90 minutes for Norway in their 2-1 win at home to Bulgaria

Last night I reported that the reserves lost 6-2 and at first I thought they may have faced the likes of Henry, Pires and Vieria but then I turned on Channel 5 and saw them against Portugal for France but the Arsenal line up did include Kanu, Ray Parlour, Gilles Grimandi, Edu, Matthew Upson and Steffan Malz. Arsenal were 4-0 up at Half time but goals from Lionel Morgan and Gavin Bolger gave us a bit of pride. Arsenal have now won 5-1 and 6-2 against our reserves this year.

As the Fulham game fast approaches and is one of the easiest game to get to from Wimbledon some of us are making a top day out of it. About 150 supporters are on a boat on the thames going from Waterloo to Putney via Tower Bridge should be fun.

The Fulham game should also see us in next season's Yellow Kit.

Have you voted yet for Player Of The year? you only have until Tuesday evening to cast your vote and if you want to cast it today click here.

25/04/2001
The reserves played Arsenal this afternoon and lost 6-2.

After Tuesday nights result the math's for the play-offs are getting simpler. If we win our last three game we would have 75 points but a better goal difference from all the other teams so they would need to get 76 points to reach this the following teams would need this many points from this many games. West Brom 3 from 2, Preston 4 from 3, Birmingham 4 from 2 these are the only teams that can get ahead of us if we win our remaining games.

Dont forget to vote for Player Of The year by clicking here.

24/04/2001
Gutting what more can you say a 3-3 draw with Crewe after being 3-1 up. If our aim is to get 10 points from the last 4 games we now have to win the last three. Burnley also got a victory tonight at home to Tranmere.

Two changes will be made on Tuesday night when both Trond and Kenny Cunningham will be away on international duty.

After Saturday's game Dave Beasant of Forest had some nice words about Terry Burton. "The Dons didn't have the greatest start to the season. But they are a team in form and they definitely have a good future under Terry Burton."

The run-in for the play-offs is getting very close now. Today Preston beat Watford 3-2 and they have moved to 5th place in the table above Birmingham on 72 points. Preston's end to the season include games against Crewe, Blackburn and West Brom.

I have now closed the vote for who is the best team that we have played in the Division this season and the result is as follows:-

21/04/2001
The push is now on full steam for the playoffs after a 2-1 victory over a very good Nottingham Forest team. Our goals came from David Nielsen who turned in Kevin Cooper's effort from about 1.5 inches and Kevin Cooper himself.

It seems like I am making the following comment every week at the moment but here goes. "Tomorrow is a Huge game and we must get behind the team" Forest have sold over 1,000 tickets and it's reported they could bring in the region of 3-4,000 so to everyone at the game lets get behind the lads for the full match. If we get a result we could well be in with a major play-off shout.

Jason Euell and Michael Hughes could well be involved in the team for Saturday's game as they have been back in full training.

The Sheffield United Man Of The Match will close on Saturday morning so please vote if you havent.

For people that dont read the WISA Chat Site it had a surprise visitor on Thursday night when a message appeared under the name of Barney (Guest) the subject was Thank you and the text was as follows:-

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Wimbledon Supporters for their support over the last 12 years during my time with the Club and thank those who have sent cards and messages of good luck to me.
Nothing will ever take away the memories of being part of a unique and historic club, you the supporters played a major part in those memories. People could not understand why I involved myself in getting supporters released from police custody, supported Jonsey and Co in the magistrates court for example or getting involved in incidents like Portsmouth this season. Why? because Wimbledon supporters may be small in number but are the most genuine and decent bunch of supporters in the country. Two consecutive Fair Play awards bear me out on this one.
My final game for Wimbledon was Wolves away, which was my 568th first team game I had the priviledge to officiate at, only missing three games in my time with the club.
Therefore you will appreciate that if I find my self with another club my allegiance will be with them but a large part of me will always remain with Wimbledon.
Continue to give your unquestionable support to the Club and support Charles, Terry and the rest of the Team in their efforts to take the Club forward.
Kind regards to All
BARNEY

In case you are not sure the message was from David Barnard and shows what a decent guy he is. Thanks David and Good Luck.

Bit of news on one of our injured players Damien Francis who has been out since before Christmas and is likely to miss the first few months of next season is recovering from his injury. After his operation he had an infection in his knee and therefore this took longer to heal, he is now over this and has started the long road back to full fitness lets hope he's back soon.

Gareth Ainsworth has updated his site and talks about the "reception" he got at Sheffield United.

After yesterdays news that Kenny Cunningham would miss the Crewe game it also looks like Trond will miss it as he has been called up for Norway for a friendly against Bulgaria.

18/04/2001
Three updates in one day this site is almost becoming professional (i dont thinks thats spelt right :) ) but anyway A very strong reserve team won 2-1 against Chelsea tonight goals from Mcnuff and Thomas saw us come back from 1-0 down to win the game. Matthew Booth once again impressed along with Rob Geir and Leigertwood.

Next weeks game against Crewe could see us with captain Kenny Cunningham after he has been called up for International duty by the Republic of Ireland.

Off to watch the reserves in action tonight at Gander Green Lane against Chelsea will update after that match.

The West Brom official site has highlighted us and Watford as the teams they fear and have pointed out that their game on Saturday against Gillingham is very important if they are to make the play-offs.

Just got back in from the trip to Sheffield and what a brilliant way to end the midweek away trips with a 1-0 victory.

The result puts us 10th and keeps us in with a shout on the play-offs the teams we should be having a look out for now are Birmingham and West Brom who appear to be having a rough patch.

Our goal was scored by Andy Roberts in the second minute of the second half.

The result of the Man Of The Match award for the Barnsley game is as follows : -

Gareth Ainsworth 9 votes 43%
Neal Ardley 3 votes 14%
Patrick Agyemang 3 votes 14%

Early start today due to the fact that I am off to Sheffield this afternoon.

Sheffield United have a doubt over ex-Don Simon Tracey. He missed their 4-1 defeat on Saturday and could still be out.

The early team news for us is looking quite good with no new injuries and we could well see a start for Trond.

Full update on my return from Sheffield but I will try and update during the day.

16/04/2001
If we are to be honest it looks like our playoff chances could well be over after both Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Preston also won today.

With us not playing till Tuesday night we can sit back today and watch the other teams battle it out for promotion, play-off and relegation places. The team head off to Sheffield today for tomorrows match.

Dont forget if you haven't voted for the Barnsley Man Of The Match yet please do so by clicking the following link.

No real head to heads today in the division but a few interesting games. After taking points off us at the weekend it's Barnsley v Preston NE lets hope they can get at least another point. Norwich City v Burnley could be another game where points are picked up for us with Norwich wanting to put in a good display but a game that affects both end's of the table is Nottingham Forest v Stockport. Stockport have moved away from the bottom of the table and a couple more wins should see them safe.

If you want to keep up to date with all the scores click on the following click here the times given are European so remember to take an hour off for the UK time.

I have added direct links to each of The Dons players that have web sites. You can go direct to them by clicking on the left hand link.

I have been contacted by a fan who lives in the West Midlands area if any other fans are in that area and would like to met another Dons fan who travels to game please e-mail me and I will try and put you in touch. Please let me know where in the Midlands you are as well.

Today is the 13th anniversary of the FA Cup semi-final where 96 Liverpool fans died while watching their team. It's a time to take a few moments to remember people that have died do what we all love and that's watching football.

Yesterday was our 1,000 league game and our complete record is as follows: -

PldWonDrewLostForAgiPts
1000379289332140913391357

It certainly makes interesting reading and it's nice to see that we have won more than a third of our games.

14/04/2001
Another draw, another two points dropped and is that the end of our Play-off chances? Well perhaps not to the last point. Both the games involving the four teams above us BUR Vs WBA & PNE Vs NtFFC were draws while Sheffield United and Watford lost, it will be really hard now but it can still be done victory at Sheffield United must be achieved or it will be safe to say that the play-offs are off the agenda for this season.

We took the lead today via garethainsworth.com when he headed home from close range after 17 minutes but Barnsley equalized from Shipperley in the second half. We should have sown the game up in the first half but to be fair this was a fair result.

The Man Of The Match vote for the Barnsley game is now open please click below to vote.

A big game today against Barnsley today and a chance for us to put right the disappointing display from Tuesday night.

Today Burnley play West Brom and Preston Vs Forest of the teams above us. So if we can get a win we will close the gap on at least two of the teams above us.

Its time to mention another Wimbledon player who has his own web site and this time it's not an Icons production.

I look forward to reading Gareth's views and I am sure that they will be very good.

I have been having a look at the Stats-Mail predictions for the rest of the season. Stats-mail have us finishing 7th with Burnley 1 point ahead of us in 6th place.

The predicted result for us in or remaining games have us losing to Fulham, Drawing with Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest and winning all the others.

With us having a lot better goal difference than Burnley we would only have to get one more point from them games therefore either at least a point at Fulham or winning either of the drawn games. It will be an interesting remainder of the season.

The Official Site has a good interview with Gareth Ainsworth here are some of the points he makes.

"The last time we had a disappointing result was the Wycombe game and the following Saturday we hammered QPR 5-0, if we can repeat that on Saturday we are firmly back on track. If we don't make the play-offs it will not be the end of the world as next season I really think we will rip up this division. Either way the future at this club is good and I feel success is not too far away."

Kelvin Davis should be back in action on Saturday following his injury in the Burnley.

I have now closed the vote on "How do you rate our performance this season?" we had 153 votes in total so thanks to everyone and the results is as follows: -

Very Good (6) 4%
Good (79) 52%
OK (50) 33%
Poor (7) 5%
Very Poor (11) 7%

I have now added a new question this is "Who is the best team we have played this season?" please vote to show your view.

12/04/2001
Well done to the reserves again who on Wednesday night beat Derby 2-0 at Sutton. The goals came from Des Byre from the penalty spot and another one for young Joel McAnuff. Once again their was an impressive performance from Matthew Booth and also Lionel Morgan impressed.

The reserves are in action tonight against Derby at Sutton.

Following Tuesday nights defeat Terry Burton reckons that it will be very hard for us to reach the play-offs and we will need to win every game left.

Lets hope that Tuesday was just one of them games and that we get back to winning ways on Saturday.

If anyone has kids and is in the North Cheam area on Thursday afternoon they may like to take them along to McDonald's at NORTH CHEAM DRIVE THRU LONDON ROAD NORTH CHEAM a number of players should be about from 2:00 onwards.

So when a bubble burst's it usually goes bang big time and today our great run was bought to a crashing halt by Burnley who won 2-0. Their goals were scored in the first and last minutes of the first half and we were well off the pace of the last few games.

Kelvin Davis was substituted in the second half following a dead leg that he first suffered in the first half.

Well done to the reserves who won 4-2 away at Southampton on Monday night. Southampton scored via Matt Le Tissier and Uwe Rosler but our goals came from Joel McAnuff, Alex Tapp, Carl Leaburn and then a second for Alex Tapp.

Tonight we take on Burnley if you are unable to make the game commentary is available via the Burnley web site if you click the following link.

09/04/2001
Ok lets start off with some potential good news for our future. Patrick Agyemang has been offered a new 5 year deal. he still has two years left on his existing contract but with a lot of rumours of other clubs watching him The Dons have tried to secure his long term service.

The reserves are in action tonight at Southampton and on Wednesday against Derby at Sutton, so if Tuesday nights game against Burnley isn't enough for you pop along to gander Green Lane on Wednesday night.

We have a full strength squad for Tuesday's visit by Burnley. This could also see a run out for Gareth Ainsworth. Lets hope we can continue our current good run.

Congratulations to Wycombe, Lawrie Sanchez and Terry Gibson on the performance today against Liverpool. Although they lost 2-1 it was a brilliant performance and caused Liverpool a number of problems.

Gareth Ainsworth reckons that he will only make the squad for Tuesday nights game against Burnley. Although he has been injured for the last few weeks he has been able to train and looks forward to the rest of the season.

07/04/2001
What can you say but today was one of them days when everything went well. None of the teams above us in the table won and we managed a highly impressive 3-1 victory over the team who are 4th in the table. We are now 10th in the table and can look at moving forward towards the playoff zone.

The goals today came from David Nielsen, Michael Hughes and Mark Williams.

It's not often that we want to drop a place in the table but last night was Burnley Vs Preston. Burnley won 3-0 and therefore move above us in the table but we have games in hand on them and play them on Tuesday night. Preston currently sit in 6th place and therefore this gives us a chance to reach the play-off's.

If we can get a result today it could well put us on the path to the play-offs if you are going to the game let's get behind the team and hope that we can get the three points.

It's not often you have the papers falling over each other to give the Dons a glowing write up but today was one of them days. The papers were well impressed with our performance and quite a few Wolves fans as well as their manager have said we were the best side to have played at Wolves this season.

Tonight is the first anniversary of MCTS and so a bit of a bash will be taking place at the Weatherspoons pub in Wimbledon. MCTS was formed at a time when we just couldn't get results and we all know how the season ended, one year on we can look back at the club being in a lot healthier position and with some great players at the club.

A young reserve team lost 1-0 to Charlton on Wednesday night although I think that Booth made his debut for the club.

Just got back from Wolves and a brilliant 1-0 victory that see's us move to 10th place in the table :)

The goal was scored by Neal Ardley but this was a true team performance with every player playing well. We could of had more than the one goal that we got but in the end it was enough.

Wednesday nights see's us make the trip to Wolves and in the squad could well be Gareth Ainsworth. He hopes to either play tomorrow night or definitely on Saturday against Birmingham.

Talking of the next two games Terry Burton will be forced to watch the game from the stands after he was given a two match ban following the "Wycombe" game.

Terry says it's now time for the players to put together a run that see's us make the playoffs with 10 games left he says that 9 wins will see us in the top 6.

It seems to be a day of quotes today first up is Egil Olsen. Vegard from WISA CHAT has translated the book that Egil wrote and there are some very interesting points that have come up. I will re-produce two of the sections here today first up is Egil's views on the Supporters and then his Views on Kenny Cunningham.

he turned to the club's supporters, some of which he had met on the train back from the Sunderland game the week before. And as always: they were knowledgeable. They asked clever questions. They saw the possibilities. In short: they managed to see behind the results. It seemed like Olsen had long given up on the hope that sports journalists would be able to do the same.- - -[after getting the sack]Meanwhile, which was strange, from as shy a man as Egil Olsen: He felt that he had let the supporters down. He thought about them, both the English and Norwegian ones. He'd had a very good rapport with them. Some of them had sent letters, thoughtful letters. Some of them had raised very good questions, and some had come with good pieces of advice, especially in these last, tough weeks. If he felt he had let anyone down, it had to be the supporters.- - -"I have very strong, positive feelings for the supporters. Wimbledon is a small club, with few fans, but there is still a few thousand. I didn't get to know all of them, far from it. But i met quite a few. I feel like I got to know the hardcore. They were good people. Knowledgeable, and therefore critical. They didn't agree with everything I did, and asked clever questions. I'll admit that I really miss them."

The first player to understand the concepts of Zonal defending was Kenny Cunningham, the right back. He was a very intelligent and pleasant man. He quickly turned into the "leader" of the back four, even though having a central defender as such is more practical....Cunningham tried to explain to the public that it wasn't the fault of Zonal defending every time Wimbledon conceded a goal. He would point at the individual errors having been made...If Egil had a favorite player, it had to be Kenny. Not only had he been the first to take to Zonal defence, he was also a very affluent and nice chap. In addition, he was always in a good mood. He doesn't only have good mood "for himself", but also to spread among the rest of the group. Kenny had, in the manager's eyes, become the leader of the group. Egil noticed that he often, without thinking, turned to Kenny when he was addressing the group as a whole. And if he needed to know what the players felt about things, it was really Kenny's opinion he wanted. He was assured that he would get the truth, and not only what the players thought the manager wanted to hear.

Next up on the Quotes front is Colin Hendry of Bolton "Give Wimbledon credit. They are one of the better teams we've played while I've been here"

With the trip to Wolves on Wednesday please make sure that you have voted for you Man Of The Match for the Bolton game.

All very quite today although with the games that were played Blackburn beat Burnley 5-0, Birmingham lost to Wolves 1-0 and United won the Sheffield Derby 2-1. A mixed set of results for us but good that Burnley and Birmingham lost.

Following on from yesterday's sad news about David Rocastle you can leave a tribute message at the Arsenal Rivals Site all messages will be passed on to David's family lets show what great people football fans can be.

A 2-2 draw at Bolton in a cracking game. Out first goal was from Patrick Agyemang and the second appears to have been credited to Kevin Cooper although the Dons fans were certain that it was an own goal. Kevin's goal came in the last minute of the match and was well deserved point.

David Nielsen came on for Patrick and played very well.
