March 2000
31/03/2000 Ben Thatcher is reported to be a couple of weeks away from returning to action with the first team.Saturday see's us take on Arsenal in an important game for both sides.Team News is a bit thin on the ground at the moment But it looks like Hermann is still out.
30/03/2000 The Reserves won 1-0 against Charlton on Wednesday night. Both Trond and Sully were involved in international action on Wednesday night.Jason Euell has put in yet another transfer request but says if picked he will give 110% for the Dons.At the weekend both the Academy teams lost in the playoff's the under 19's went down 4-3 to Liverpool after being 2-0 down and taking the game into extra time. The Under 17's lost 3-1 at West Ham.
29/03/2000 The reserves are in action at Gander Green Lane Sutton tonight where the reserves take on Charlton. With the media ban in effect it is becoming harder than normal to find stories, the media have not even reported on the ban. There are few international games that involve dons players tonight, Trond should be playing for Norway and Kenny Cunningham should be involved with the Republic of Ireland.Michael Hughes scored for Northern Ireland in their victory over Malta on Tuesday night.
28/03/2000 Report of West Ham game now completed.Tickets for the game at Sunderland are priced at £23.00 for adults and £17.00 for kids. Sunderland managed to get over 25,000 for a reserve game on Monday night.I am in the process of doing the match report for the West Ham game but the Man Of the Match poll is now open. (sorry for the delay).
27/03/2000 Sorry for no match report so far but I was on ITV's "The Sports show" tonight. The Wimbledon guest was due to be Robbie Earle but the club have imposed a Media ban and therefore Robbie was replaced by Lawrie Sanchez. The show goes out in England at 23:30 on ITV and for the first 20 minutes I am involved in a big way.Reports have also come out that the Bradford game has been moved to Sunday 30th April 2000.
26/03/2000 Full report on Monday but a 2-1 defeat at West Ham played poor for 70 minutes but after we made it 2-1 played quite well. After another Saturday of sitting listening for the scores of the other games and hearing them go the right way for us it is now our turn to try and put any threat of relegation behind us.The result of the Leeds Man of the Match vote is as follows:-Michael Hughes 3 votes 43% Chris Willmott 1 vote 14% Neal Ardley 1 vote 14% Jason Euell 1 vote 14% Neil Sullivan 1 vote 14%
25/03/2000 Went down the training ground this morning not too much to report.Carl Cort is out of Sundays game with his injury.Marcus Gayle finished training early but Drillo said that he should be ok to play. The Under 19's were playing a play-off match against Liverpool they 2-0 down by Half time but just as I was leaving we scored to make it 1-2 to us.
24/03/2000 Another Friday with not a lot going on due to the fact that we are live on Sky on Sunday against West Ham.It turns out that Bolton tried to get Ainsworth and Hughes but it was turned down. While some papers report that Drillo will leave in the summer he is quoted saying that he may even extend his contract and has just enrolled his 5 year old daughter in a school for next term.Drillo adds that it is down to Gjelsten as to if he extends and says he is not far from the team he wants.
23/03/2000 So while the papers did their best to say that our whole team was being signed by Spurs (Now add Sullivan and Thatcher to the long list) it would appear that nothing has gone through either In or Out of the Club.
22/03/2000 The reserves lost 3-1 at West Ham last night, but it looks like West Ham had a strong team out.Carl Cort has been called into the England Under 21 squad for the match against Yugoslavia. After lots of reports saying that Carl Cort wants to leave he today has come out with the following "My name has been linked with other clubs but it has now got out of proportion. I have never said I wanted to leave. Jason has handed in a transfer request but that is down to him. "Maybe he feels it is time to move on but I am quite happy at the club." Now to me that is the first direct quote we have had from Cort and I think that should see the matter closed.Thursday sees Transfer Deadline day so hopefully it should be a very quite day with regards to Wimbledon football club both on the In and Out side.
21/03/2000 So welcome to this budget special of itmustbedons.com and how has the budget affected you? well If Carl Cort does move to Leeds before the transfer deadline day it is reported that it will cost them £7 million rather than the £5 million quoted the over day.Hermann hope to be back playing by 1st April against Arsenal which will be a big boost. The other day I reported that CFFC were in a Semi final of the cup unfortunately they lost 5-2 but well done on getting that far.Top marks to the football league for having a bit of humour over the officials for the 1st April games where amongst other some of the officials are North & West, Coffey & Kettle, Bone & Head. The premier league was asked if they wanted to join in but turned down the opportunity.
20/03/2000 Full match report has now been added.Egil has said that although we lost 4-1 their were quite a few positive points to come out of the game with one being the number of shots that we had.The Reserves are in action on Tuesday night away at West Ham the match will either be played at Upton Park or Leyton Orient's ground please check before going if you are going.Click on the Man Of The Match link below to vote for the Dons Man Of the Match at the Leeds game.
19/03/2000 Just a quick update following my return from the game at Leeds, Ok we lost 4-1 but we played very well in fact I can think of games that we have played worse than this and Won. Leeds are the best team that I have seen so far this season.Full match report on Monday. The Man of the Match vote for the Leicester game is now closed and the result is given below.Neal Ardley 10 votes 34% Trond Andersen 5 votes 17% Robbie Earle 5 votes 17% Chris Willmott 3 votes 10% Michael Hughes 1 vote 3% Alan Kimble 1 vote 3% Carl Cort 1 vote 3% Andreas Lund 1 vote 3% Marcus Gayle 1 vote 3% Kenny Cunningham 1 vote 3%
18/03/2000 Ok it's almost a week late but I have added the goals from the BBC's coverage for the Leicester match to the Match report. If you wish to view them click here.Neal Sullivan should be back in the team for tomorrow's (Sunday's) match at Leeds, the rest of the team is likely to be as for last week's match.Today was one of them days when you sit by the radio hoping that the results of the team's below us go well, and they did. This gives us a bit of space and means if we as expected lose at Elland Road the gap will not have closed.Carl Cort has issued a statement which is basically the same as what Jason Euell said about wanting to get away from the Dons, Leeds have been linked as the player that they had put a £5 million bid in for but their is even talk that thy may try and buy him before Transfer deadline day on Thursday.Egil Olsen has told Euell that he will bot be leaving before our destiny is decided. He also said that once it is sorted out he would sit down with any player to discuss their future. On a Semi Dons point Sunday see's "Carlton Fairweather FC" yes a team named after the great man play in the Semi final of the Cup most of the players are Dons Fans with the well known webmaster of W&WW in the team as well, Good luck too all associated with the team.
17/03/2000 With the Dons not playing until Sunday their is no teams news as of yet but will be on Saturday. Both Drillo and Lars have turned round and said that if any player is not happy at staying at the Dons they can go and we will have players who ant to play for the club in the team.Jason Euell has once again said he want's out he says he doesn't know where he wants to move too but could well be a move out of London. One of the players out of contract at the end of this season is Robbie Earle, it would be nice to see Robbie involved in the coaching staff in some way. (Robbie is believed to read Fan Sites so it would be interesting to see if he reads this!)
16/03/2000 As some of the players are rumoured to be wanting to get away from the club a couple are going out of their way to say how much they want to stay at the club. After Neal Ardley and Marcus Gayle turned round and said how we have got to all get together to keep the club up Alan Kimble has said that in the summer he wants to re-negotiate his contract as he loves it at Wimbledon, he still has another year to go but he wants to sort it out as soon as possible. The Thatcher to Liverpool stories are still going round.
15/03/2000 The date has been set for the FA hearing into the Chelsea Vs Dons Game at Stamford Bridge. The date is the 13th April 2000 which is the day after we play Sheffield Wednesday at Selhurst. The Sun mentions that both clubs face the prospect of five figure fines and possibility of points being deducted. It then goes on to say that any points deduction could well affect Chelsea's chances of qualification for the Champions League, their is no mention of us and the "Drop Zone" so either they don't care about us or don't think we are in trouble!I have added the Andreas Lund site to my list of Dons Links his site has now made the transition into a Dons site, it is very interesting to read what he has to say about things, Check out my Dons Link's section to see his site. The Under 19's had a 2-0 defeat with Millwall in their FA Academy match on Tuesday night.I have been asked by the club to attend a meeting next Wednesday evening with regards to "The Marketing" of the club. The aim is to find out what Supporters would like and how the club can improve the image of the club. If you have any suggestions please can you e-mail them to me by Tuesday evening and I will take them along and will raise any issues that are appropriate. I will let everyone know how it goes.
14/03/2000 The reserves had a 2-2 draw at Southampton on Monday and were 2-1 down just before the end.John Hartson is out for the rest of the season, he needs a double Hernia operation and this will be done next week.Walid Badir is reported to want a move away from the Dons.Jason Euell has apparently yet again put in another transfer request. One of my contact was talking to Lars last week and he expressed concern that Tore Pedersen's career could well be over.Lars also mentioned that the club had looked at Espen Baardsen to replace Sullivan but their is concern that the club would be seen to have too many Norwegians at the club. The vote for the Man of the Match for the Leicester game is still open click below to vote.
13/03/2000 Marcus Gayle has said it is important to put all talk of players leaving the club behind us and fight to keep us in the Premiership for next season.
12/03/2000 Match report now up.Hermann is reported to have had an operation and will be out for the next 4 to 5 weeks.Reports also say that we will find out on Monday if John Hartson needs a Double Hernia operation and it would mean he is out for the the rest of the season.
11/03/2000 What a week and what an end to the week 2-1 to the Dons at last. Full report to follow on Sunday. The Man Of The Match vote result for the match as Derby was as follows: -Carl Cort 4 Votes 44% Neal Ardley 3 Votes 33% Jason Euell 2 Votes 22% I think this shows the poor result the number of people who voted. New vote for the Leicester Game will be open from about 21:30 tonight. The result of the Poll I placed on My web site last week has given the following result: -Should We Sell Hartson? Yes 2 Votes 7% No 27 Votes 93% So you cant get a much clear result than that.I have added a new poll today on the front page. The question is "If players want to go should we have a summer Clearout?"
10/03/2000 So as the Hartson stories begin to die down Jason Euell has put in a transfer request saying that "he respected Joe Kinnear as a manager and thinks it's bad that Hartson has been put up for sale.Reports also say that Leicester are also interested in buying Carl Cort. Now are the above a coincidence or is their more too it? Put the following names together and you have a common link Euell, Cort & Hartson all these have the same agent a man by the name of Mr J Barnett have times got tough for Mr Barnett and he needs a signing on fee for one of his players? As a side issue we have a match with Leicester on Saturday it is a really important game and all I can say is whatever you think of the events that have happened over the past 10 days just get behind the team.
09/03/2000 All a bit quite tonight, Hartson is back in training and seems happy but Drillo thinks he is unlikely to play on Saturday for us.
08/03/2000 While the British media seem to have their eyes shut the Norwegian media have been reporting more on the Hartson Story. The Sun says that Hartson may now move to Leicester for £5 million as the dons want to get rid of him. The Norwegian media reports that Drillo told the players on Monday "you have 70 days left to show what you can do I want extra training out of everyone" The media reported that afterwards all the players seemed happy. The Norwegians (Rokke and Gjelsten) have said that no players will be sold before the transfer deadline day (March 23rd IIRC) and therefore rules out any move for Hartson or Thatcher. The reserves were in action on Tuesday night away at Palace they last I heard they were losing 2-1 and John Hartson was not playing.
07/03/2000 The Hartson story has taken a bizarre twist it would now appear that Sam Hammam has been sacked/asked to leave the club after it was revealed that he agreed the deal for Hartson and told spurs they could talk to him before Drillo or Rokke or Gjelsten had been told about it, I am sure this story is going to run and run.I am beginning to get very fed up with a gentlemen by the name of Mr Jonathan Barnett. In case you are not aware Mr Barnett is the Agent/Advisor Of John Hartson. Since the story broke on Saturday evening their has not been a single quote from John Hartson every comment has come from Mr Barnett.Comments like it is a Dream move for John have been made by Mr Barnett and not by John. It makes you wonder as to if he is more interested in this move more than John Hartson is?I am also concerned that Mr Barnett has said that another club have approached him about buying Hartson Is this an illegal approach? Would you like this person representing you?Back on the football side of things, the reserves are in action on Wednesday night against Crystal Palace, the match is due to be played at Crystal Palace national Sports stadium and could well see an appearance by John Hartson.Due to the events that have happened since the weekend it appears that not many votes have been cast for the Man of the Match for the Derby match click on the link below to vote, or check out the match report first. The Sun reports today that Sam Hammam spent Monday clearing his desk at the Training ground does this mean that he will be leaving the club before the end of the season?
06/03/2000 Hartson deal is off! According to Spurs he has failed a medical but he agreed terms with them. The result of the Man Of The Match vote is given below.Neil Sullivan 18 votes 56% Jason Euell 4 votes 13% Carl Cort 2 votes 6% Neal Ardley 2 votes 6% Chris Willmott 2 votes 6% Andreas Lund 2 votes 6% Trond Andersen 1 vote 3% Alan Kimble 1 vote 3%
Just before the Derby match I held a poll of was it a must win situation? The result is given below.Yes (14) 74% No (1) 5% Draw Ok (4) 21%
05/03/2000 Talks between Spurs and John Hartson have stalled after John was not happy with the terms they offered him. They apparently offered him £16K per week double what he is on at the moment but the goal Bonus is not as good as what he is on with us so he told them to go away and come up with a new figure.I have added a new poll to the front page with the question of "Should we sell Hartson?" it's a yes or no answer but leave comments if you wish. The News Of The world reports that Liverpool offered £4.5 million for Ben Thatcher earlier this week but Bjorn Gjelsten turned it down.
04/03/2000 So if you thought that a 4-0 defeat at Derby was a bad day it gets worse. All the news services are reporting that John Hartson will move to Spurs at the start of next week in a deal believed to be valued at £7 million plus Chris Armstrong, George Graham is quoted as saying that their would be talks on Sunday and it should be completed on Monday.I will do a match report and other stuff on Sunday.
03/03/2000 It's look like we could have the same team as against Manchester United for the match at Derby as Ben Thatcher and John Hartson are both still not fit.Leeds have said they have made a bid for an unnamed player to the value of £5 million pounds and expect a decision soon. Earlier in the season they were meant to be after Cort or Hartson so it will be interesting to see if it is either of them.
02/03/2000 Egil has said that Michael Hughes is still in with a chance of staying at Wimbledon, although he is still a couple of weeks from being fully fit. Drillo also adds that Hughes will have to earn his place in the team but he could be the most skilful player at the club at present.
01/03/2000 It is reported that John Hartson has a new injury this time it is a groin injury.Saturday see our most important game of the season so far and it is a game that we must come away with points to help us move up the table, if you are thinking about going make that decision and go it doesn't take too long to get their and a big support would be really appreciated by the Players.
