January 2000
31/01/2000 Tonight see's the big match of Norway against Iceland with Trond and Martin facing Hermann in what should be a good game.Tomorrow sees the chance to Ask Martin and Trond questions in a live chat session see the link below. The under 19's had a 1-1 draw on Saturday in a home game with Norwich and the under 17's had an away victory
30/01/2000 On Tuesday Afternoon Trond Andersen and Martin Andresen will being answering question on the VG Web Site click on the link below to see what is being said, you can also send questions in advance.I have added some new sites to my Dons Links page check them out to see what other people think.
29/01/2000 While the first team squad continue to have a break in Grand Canaria the reserves and youth teams are in action today. The Reserves are due to play away at West Ham (Played at Leyton Orient) with the Under 19's home to Norwich and the Under 17's Away at Southampton.
28/01/2000 Some sad news regarding John Goodman at the Dons. After years of Injury misery John has been advised that he should retire from Football. Although we didn't see much of John over the years he was a player that always gave full effort and I hope that things work out form him and his family and that he is found a job in football in some way or the other.
27/01/2000 The Match away at West Ham will now take place on the Sunday live on sky with a 4pm kick off.
26/01/2000 The reserves had a very good 1-1 draw at Derby on Tuesday evening. It's a hard life being a footballer Trond's web site reports that while the Squad stay in Grand Canaria until Monday next week him and Martin (Andresen) have to leave on Friday to meet up with The Norwegian training camp in La Manga.
25/01/2000 The Reserves are in action on Tuesday Night against a Very Strong Derby Team. It will be interesting to see who plays for the Dons as they Squad are on a break.Sheffield United are saying that Marcus Bent will not leave them unless we pay £3 million. The match against West Ham has been moved due to the fact it is now on Sky TV it is not known if it will be the Sunday or Monday game.
24/01/2000 So as the players head off to the sun and we have a two week break it looks as if things are looking good in the camp. Both Cort and Gayle have come out and said that they are happy with the Dons and Cort says he still has a lot to learn with us.
23/01/2000 Gayle has turned round and said that he hopes the Club Vs Country debate can be sorted, as he doesn't think it's right he should play for Jamaica while being paid by Wimbledon. He says he is very proud to play for Jamaica bus disappointed to miss two games for the dons while playing in the Gold Cup. Nice one Marcus. The match report is now available for the Newcastle game.So Ceri Hughes did leave us and join Portsmouth in a £150K deal, he also scored on his debut yesterday. Well Done Ceri and all the best.
22/01/2000 Wow what a game a very important 2-0 win over NewcastleClick below to vote for Man Of The Match for the Newcastle game. The result of the Coventry match has thrown up a very interesting result, almost every player got at least 1 vote. I think this shows what a poor match it was and the fact that apart from Sullivan no one stood outNeil Sullivan 9 votes 38% Wayne Gray 3 votes 13% Trond Andersen 2 votes 8% Hermann Hreidarsson 2 votes 8% Neal Ardley 1 vote 4% Martin Andresen 1 vote 4% Damien Francis 1 vote 4% Kenny Cunningham 1 vote 4% Jason Euell 1 vote 4% Carl Cort 1 vote 4% Robbie Earle 1 vote 4% Walid Badir 1 vote 4%
.
21/01/2000 The Dons face an in form Newcastle side at Selhurst on Saturday, we are still without Thatcher and Hartson, and Gayle is still a doubt. This is an important game for us to get points from due to the fact that after our break we have games with Everton, Chelsea and Leeds on the Cards.Ardley has reported that he may not mind a move to either Charlton or Wolves as they are both very good 1st division teams. We have taken a player on a 1 week trial from Toulouse his name is Ahmed Maharzi and he is a striker.
20/01/2000 The Youth Team won 2-0 against Portsmouth on Wednesday night and now go in to the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
19/01/2000 The reserves match that was due to be played at Gander Green Lane against Southampton tonight has been called off. The Youth Team have a FA Youth Cup match at Portsmouth tonight.Reports yesterday said that Ben Thatcher would be out for the season after breaking a bone in his foot, it has now been confirmed that this information is not correct and Ben should be back at some point during February.Tore Pedersen reports on his web site that his fitness is getting better and he will be off to join the team in the sunshine next week, he also hopes to be back in full training by during February as well.
18/01/2000 The players are off for a relax and recuperation break in Grand Canaria on Monday after the Newcastle game.David Ellary has been appointed ref for the match against Manchester United at Selhurst, this will be the first Man U game that he has done since Alex Ferguson said he never wanted him to ref his team again last season.
17/01/2000 Tickets for the match at Chelsea went on sale today for the match they are priced at £25.00 and no discounts for kids or OAP's.Ceri Hughes could well be on his way to Portsmouth this week in a £100K move.
16/01/2000 So it looks like Sully could well be off to Arsenal, Sam was asked by some members of the press last week about if he thought Sully would stay and as Sam had previously told me he confirmed that he thought it would be unlikely. He was then asked if Arsenal had made an enquiry and he said "Next question please".Drillo once again didn't attend the press conference following the Coventry defeat due to the fact that he kept the players in the dressing room for over an hour when he and the players came out none of them said a word to any of the media and got straight on the coach. The Man of The match vote for the Coventry game is now open click below to vote.
15/01/2000 So a 2-0 defeat at Coventry. It will be interesting to see the Penalty on Match Of The Day but I would like to know how he could play on and because they didn't score then call it back for a penalty. The result of the Man Of The Match award for the Fulham match is as follows: -Trond Andersen 21 votes 40% Neil Sullivan 17 votes 33% Martin Andresen 5 votes 10% Neal Ardley 3 votes 6% Damien Francis 2 votes 4% Hermann Hreidarsson 1 vote 2% Jason Euell 1 vote 2% Kenny Cunningham 1 vote 2% Carl Cort 1 vote 2% This is an interesting result as Drillo thought that Trond had his worst game for us.
14/01/2000 So Keegan accepts that Ben Thatcher is one of the best Left Backs in the country and has compared him to Stuart Pearce. He has now said that he was on course to be picked for the the next England squad, but due to the Sunderland incident he has said he will not be selected for the squad. My view on this is that it shows how poor and bias the FA are surely a squad/team should be picked based on the strongest players available. Does this also mean that if Shearer/Beckham or any other England player commits an offence they will not be considered for selection for the next match? The squad for the Coventry game looks like it will include Robbie Earle, Walid Badir, Alan Kimble but Marcus Gayle is off on international duty.Egil has said that he is more than happy at the club and although we have had some bad results he has also been pleased by some of the play we have made. The Daily Telegraph and The Sun reports that we are close to signing "Peter Moller" from Oveido in Spain on a 3 month loan, to assist in the "loss" of Marcus Gayle and John Hartson.
13/01/2000 The reserves lost 2-0 to Coventry and had a player sent off in Wednesday night's game.
12/01/2000 So the FA have imposed a 2 match ban on Ben Thatcher. Ben pleaded guilty to the charge and under the circumstances we have perhaps got off better than what we may have, although other players only had a 1 match ban so we did get hit harder. The reserves are in action against Coventry at Gander Green Lane tonight, I wont be their but will post details as soon as I know.Due to the fact that Leeds have a European match on the previous Thursday night our match at Elland Road has been moved from the Saturday to the Sunday with a 3pm kick off, the match at the moment wont be on Sky.
11/01/2000 As Egil searches for a new striker we have made two approaches to clubs the first was to Southampton for a £1 million pound offer for James Beattie but Southampton want £5 million so this has been stopped. The other is for Jan Arge Fijortoff who is now in Germany we would like to take him on loan till the end of the season.Ceri Hughes may move to Portsmouth in a £100K deal. They are about to have a new manager so it may be put on hold for a few days.
10/01/2000 So after the defeat on Saturday the game at Coventry cant come quick enough. The vote for the "Man Of The Match" for the match against Fulham is still open click below to vote.
09/01/2000 First some site news, I was going to change My Guestbook from it's current format over the next couple of weeks. I have now had to change it today due to the fact that someone has left an abusive message towards some of the players and supporters at the club. If you wish to put messages like this in a Guestbook please do not put it in mine from now on they will be deleted. At the end of last week Teamtalk claimed that Ben Thatcher had signed a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool as his contract is up in the Summer, they have since admitted that they were wrong! But a Liverpool site claims that Liverpool are likely to sign Thatcher for £4 million in the summer.Trond Andersen has admitted that the whole team were upset about the Fulham defeat and Lars and Mick had a right go at them in the dressing room after the game. Trond added that he hopes that the Dons Fans keep supporting the team.
08/01/2000 So a 3-0 defeat to Fulham and we are out of the FA Cup. A little will be annoyed about this but the fact that We missed Kimble and Thatcher. More to Come. The Result of the Man of the Match award for the Sunderland game is as follows: -
Ben Thatcher 29 votes 66% Martin Andresen 4 votes 9% Hermann Hreidarsson 4 votes 9% Neil Sullivan 3 votes 7% Jason Euell 3 votes 7% Trond Andersen 1 vote 2% .
07/01/2000 So with the build up to the Fulham game well under way it looks like at the moment we have sold over 4,000 tickets and about another 1,500 can be bought on the day.Team News - It is reported that Ben Thatcher is out of the match with a thigh strain and that Leaburn, Earle and Badir all need fitness tests. It will be a real test this match but with everyone behind the team lets hope that we can get through to the next round.Anyone who wants to meet in Wimbledon prior to the game we will be in the Alex pub from 11:00 to about 1:30 may see you in their. As from now you can now reach my site by typing in the following URL: -http://www.itmustbedons.com I will keep the other URL's open so you can you either at the moment. I can also be e-mailed at the following addresses:Paul@itmustbedons.com = E-mails to me Webmaster@itmustbedons.com = E-mails about the Site Fans@itmustbedons.com = To be added to the Fans section The advantage of this address for you is no more pop-up's although a few may appear for the next few days as I transfer my site.
06/01/2000 The Sun claims it took the FA 2 minutes to charge Ben Thatcher with misconduct after watching the video of the incident. The sun also says that Ben was going to be selected in the squad by Keegan for the game with ArgentinaIt would appear that their is a slight disagreement in the Sumerbee household over the Incident Nicky's father Mike has said Thatcher will be a marked man and will get his comeuppance soon and Nicky himself said that he thinks the matter should be over now he doesn't think that Thatcher did it on purposes. For people who don't have tickets o the game on Saturday if you can get to Fulham FC Box office they will sell you one before the weekend their has been a postal strike in the Fulham area and may be why they don't send any by post. with 2,000 available I would imagine you will get in on the day but get their early. For FIFA 2000 players check out my CM3/FIFA 2000 section as I have created a "Dons on the Net" patch which I think you will all like.
05/01/2000 So as expected The FA have charged Ben Thatcher with misconduct this normally means that a hearing will be held in about two weeks time. In two previous cases this season where players have been called to the FA on Video evidence because of use of the Elbow they have got 1 match bans,we shall wait to see what Ben gets. Our initial Allocation for the game with Fulham of 2,000 has sold out, we were then given another 800 tickets these have also been sold so Fulham have now allocated us the Whole of the Away end which means that on Saturday their will be an additional 2,000 standing places that can be purchased on the door. prices are £12.00 adults £6.00 kids.
04/01/2000 So the knives are out for Ben Thatcher after the incident that led to our goal in the Sunderland. Trevor Brooking described it on Match Of the Day as the worst incident he had seen all season, right Trev don't remember you saying things like that when Shearer Kicked the Leicester player in the head!! People are saying that he should get a six month ban and that we shouldn't get the win. And even though ref's who are always told to say nothing about incidents after the game poll turned round and said "That he was disappointed in the fact that he missed it! The FA have already asked for a copy of the video. Expect this story to go on for a while yet.Olsen has admitted that he expect Sullivan to leave us in the summer. Sully is now in a position to sign an agreement to play next year for any non-English and we would not pick up a fee for him. Olsen has also said that Sully is even better than what he thought he was.The Man of the Match poll for the Sunderland game is now open click below to vote.As a side issue can I just say thanks to all the people that have e-mail me to say Get Well Soon and sorry to here my run has been broken. I have got some Mega strength Antibiotics and hope to be back in full effect for Fulham.
03/01/2000 So a 1-0 victory that moves us up 2 places and a good start to the new year.Half Time - Dons 1 Sunderland 0. Willmott playing in back four and looks fine.30 minutes Cort 1-0So after going a whole decade without missing a game I am unable to make the first game of the 21st Century due to the fact that the flu I have had since New Years Eve has not got any better.
02/01/2000 It looks like once again tomorrow their will be a change in the line up as Alan Kimble is going to be out for a while, this will mean Thatcher to Left Back and Trond to Centre.Other players injured include Badir, Earle, Blackwell & Hartson.
01/01/2000 Happy New Year, I have got a real bad case of the Flu at the moment so I don't know if anything has gone on, but being New Years Day I doubt if anything has happened..
