The Reserve game at West Ham has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch this means another game that John Hartson cant test his fitness out in, so Derby could be the big game where he makes any sort of a return.

Egil has been given £5 million to buy new players to make sure that we stay in the Premiership is this a sign of Bjorn wanting to show he is serious about the club?

Messages of support have started to come in from around the world for the "Thanks Sam" campaign click the link under yesterdays date to send a message.

28/02/2000
Approximately this time last year Joe Kinnear suffered his Heart Attack and as a spur of the moment decision a group of fans arranged for a huge card to be signed by Dons fans at the following game at Selhurst this turned out to be a real success and received a lot of media coverage and in one of the TV interviews with Joe he was seen reading the card. I am now going to suggest something for Sam Hammam but this time to completed between now and the end of the season this will be on a similar basis but on a world wide scale this time. The aim is to get as many supporters as possible Dons fans or any other clubs to sign a "Thanks Sam From the Family" Card if you would like to be part of this please e-mail me at

and I will make sure that they are included with the others messages. or you can click the link below.

thanks sam

If you do have any pictures of Sam over the years that could be used please also e-mail them to me lets make sure that we give him a really good send off.

So after the last few days being full of Dons news today has been very quite the papers have tried to continue the Sam going to Spurs and taking Hartson with him stories, but they have also linked Sam with Palace Brentford and Millwall.

One story from last Thursday I had a chat with Marcus Gayle and he said how he was suffering from mixed emotions he was happy to be back to play against Manchester United but disappointed that Jamaica got knocked out at an early stage in the gold cup.

Match report now completed for Manchester United game.

So It didn't take long for the press to link Sam with moving to a new club. The Clubs he has been linked with are Spurs (Well it is Sunday and their always has to be a Spurs linked with Dons person Story) and linking up with Ron Noades to buy up Palace. As usual I think this is a case of lazy journalism, yes Sam and Noades are good friends (Sam bought the dons off Noades) but I don't think Sam would get involved in football again, Wimbledon was Sam's baby and I just think he wants to enjoy his retirement.

I have added a new poll on the main page based on next weeks trip to Derby, "Is It A Must Win Game?".

26/02/2000
Just a quick post match update as I have just got home from a very hectic day.

A 2-2 draw with the "Champions Of Europe" it was a game that everyone felt so proud to be a womble and we should of won the match. Full match report Sunday morning.

So it's the early hours of Saturday morning and today we have one of the glamour games of the season Manchester United at a packed Selhurst Park. As the reaction starts to flood in to Sam Hammam's decision to step down as partner in the club we have all had time to reflect on what Sam has done and achieved for the Dons, and anyone who questions his commitment to the club should think again.

Sam has over the years made some decisions that have been silly (ask him he admits it) and some that we didn't like but worked out but on the whole he has been 100% Don.

It's a good time considering who our opponents are today to consider the difference between our Governor and Manchester United's Chairman (Martin Edwards). Both clubs are premier league clubs and at the start of the season have the possibility of winning the title but Sam is one of us where as Martin Edwards has very little to do with the fans. Most of us have been on trips north where Sam has chatted with us and fans of other teams and has turned round to them and said your team is crap support the Dons can you imagine any other chairman doing that? no not many the only one who may have was the late Matthew Harding, who once again was a supporter at heart.

Be proud of what Sam has done and don't think just because he has sold his shares he wont be at the club. In fact we could well see him in the Homesdale for a game or two soon.

This game is a crunch game and with this news shows we must be 100% behind the boys sing your hearts out and sing for Sam.

REMEMBER HE IS AND YOU ARE PROUD TO BE A WOMBLE

25/02/2000
The news is being announced that Sam Hammam has sold his remaining 20% stake in the club it has been sold to Bjorn Rune Gjelsten who was the other half of the Rokke & Gjelsten partnership.

It is a very interesting move as Gjelsten was rumoured to have fallen out with Rokke and had taken a break from the main Company in Norway.

Where as Rokke is a main business man Gjelsten is mad on sport and is the person who managed to get Rokke to Invest.

I am sure Sam will stay at the club but he has made it quite clear to people who have spoke to him that he would like someone else to take over.

I am sure that Sam would only do this to benefit the club but you could well see the press jump on this and give it a bad press. The important thing is that we remain in the Premiership. I will do a full update tonight.

24/02/2000
As I mentioned the other day I can now confirm that we signed a new kit manufacture deal with Puma.

The deal will last for 2 years and was completed over the Christmas period, expect full details to be announced by the club in the programme on Saturday.

Down the training ground today it was confirmed that Hartson will not play at the weekend, both him and Tore Pedersen were due to have played for 45 minutes on Wednesday night in the reserve match with Arsenal but Hartson went down with flu and Tore felt a slight tightening of his injury so he pulled out.

I spoke to Tore and asked him when he hoped to be back? he said that he was not going to rush it and didn't know when he would return.

Drillo confirmed that no action was being taken by the club against Kenny Cunningham in relation to the Chelsea game.

Drillo was talking to the press and said that the club were not preparing in anyway different for Saturday's game than any other game.

Drillo also said how sad he was to here about the Death of Sir Stanley Matthews. Drillo said he was one of the players that inspired him. itmustbedons.com would also like to offer it's condolences to the family of Sir Stanley Matthews and it's a big loss to football.

The Reserves game on Wednesday night finished 1-1 so I didn't miss anything.

23/02/2000
Due to the fact I had to get the train home I left the reserve game after 80 minutes when the score was 1-1, the dons took the lead through Wayne Gray early in the second half but Arsenal levelled with about 15-20 minutes to go.

Both John Hartson and Tore Pedersen were due to play for the reserves tonight but were pulled out at the last minute, Hartson was announced as having flu, true or a bluff?

One player who did start and played the first 70 minutes very well was Andy Roberts he was then substituted and went straight to the changing rooms expect him to be in the squad for the weekend

Drillo is back from his trip to Norway and looked very well, It has also been reported that earlier this week Lars and his family were in Disneyland Paris and one of our supporters (and reader of this site) Jack Duncton had a quick chat with him.

The reserves are in action tonight at Gander Green Lane against Arsenal tonight.

Carl Cort had a good game for the Under 21's last night.

22/02/2000
It Must Be Dons has been made aware of a very interesting rumour. sources suggest that next year the Dons will be running out in a kit made by Puma

I am currently trying to find out more on this story, but it is believed to be a 2 year deal.

Peter Hawkins has gone on loan to York for a month.

With The Norse Connection telling us he was shutting down he comes back with a master story about Drillo off skiing in Norway, catch the whole story at The Norse Connection

Carl Cort should play for England Under 21's tonight at Fulham.

21/02/2000
So with it being International week Cort, Lund and Andersen have joined up with their national teams.

It looks like Hartson will play some part on Saturday against Manchester United even if it's a case of Lund for 60 minutes then Hartson for 30 minutes.

20/02/2000
It's Sunday so that must mean the papers have one of our players linked with a move away and guess the club and player, yes in one it's Spurs and John Hartson.

Unfortunately one of my fellow webmasters has decided to call it a day in doing his site. Ola at The Norse Connection is stopping his site. I would just like to say thanks to Ola as his site was a major asset especially when Drillo first came to the club as he had all the Norwegian stories translated very quickly.

The result of the man of the Match vote for the Chelsea is as follows:

Andreas Lund 10 votes 30%
Chris Willmott 9 votes 27%
Robbie Earle 6 votes 18%

Hermann Hreidarsson 3 votes 9%
Trond Andersen 1 vote 3%

.

18/02/2000
With no match this weekend things are very quite but I will update the current situation at the club.

With Sullivan likely to be off in the Summer the latest clubs to be interested are Celtic and Chelsea.

Thatcher looks like he could be off to Liverpool for about 4 million but his injury could be better and see him play against man United on Saturday Week (26/02/2000).

Pederson and Ainsworth are back in training and could make a run out for the reserves next week

Hartson is still on course to return for the Derby game.

The Under 19's and Under 17's are in action on Saturday morning against Bristol City 11am kick off's.

17/02/2000
So the big news is that a total of 0 Wimbledon Players have been called up for the England squad for the game against Argentina. I a huge case of Double Standards Dennis Wise has been selected in the squad by Keegan who said "he has been picked on football ability alone" so why didn't the same basis be used for Ben Thatcher.

16/02/2000
Carl Cort has been called in to the England Under 21's squad for the game against Argentina at Fulham. Don't forget to check the site on Thursday night to see how many Wimbledon players have been selected for England :-) .

15/02/2000
Their are rumours circulating that Saturday's incident may have been caught on Close Circuit TV the police are checking the pictures and the FA have asked to see if anything can be proved by watching the tape.

The reserves managed a very good 1-1 draw at Leicester on Monday night, the Leicester team included Guppy Izzett and Collymore just to name three players, so well done to the reserves.

Jonathon Gould has announced he is going to leave Celtic as he has lost his first choice goalkeeper, this may coincide with the stories that Sully could well be on his way too Celtic for next season.

14/02/2000
As the tunnel incident develops should it be time for us to get a little bit concerned?

It appears to be generally agreed that the incident was a follow up from the Wise and Cunningham squaring up in the last couple of minutes. As the players left the pitch Wise is alleged to have stood outside the Chelsea dressing room waiting for Kenny Cunningham and as Kenny walked past Wise said "Your Rubbish" and squirted Lucozade over Kenny.

Anyone who knows Kenny knows he is a very quite likeable guy but it would appear that he "lost" it he went for Wise and followed him into the Chelsea dressing room. A huge scuffle then started and Drillo was pushed down the stairs.

Robbie Earle has made comments saying that "their was more action than in the Tyson fight", he then added "It would be hard to pick out any individual as so many were involved" The problem with a comment like this means that a charge can be made against the club and could result in points deduction.

They have just announced that Wimbledon and Chelsea have been charged with "Failing to control their players" and Wise, Kenny Cunningham and Mick Harford have been charged on an individual basis. The Club and Players have fourteen days to ask for a hearing.

On the side the reserves are in action tonight at Leicester in a 7pm kick off.

13/02/2000
Vinnie Jones is quoted in a brilliant interview on footballfc.com says that he could well train Wimbledon prior to his next film role, he also came close to joining Watford last month his home team club, he also has a go at Ken Bates of Chelsea.

The stories are starting to come out about what happened in the tunnel after the game on Saturday. On Match Of The Day Vialli said that he would prefer not to say anything until the ref's report had been issued, but this morning their may be another reason behind this.

Both The News Of The World and The People report that as the players went down the tunnel Dennis Wise continued his row with Cunningham and turned to him and said "Your rubbish" and then squirted him with Lucozade their was then a mass brawl involving between 15 and 22 players including John Hartson and Mick Harford.

Chelsea claimed that a player slipped going down the stairs and this was only a minor incident. The report has been sent to the FA and we shall wait to see what happens.

A 3-1 defeat at Chelsea but in a game that we played very well.

Following the game their was an incident in the tunnel as the players left the pitch. The ref is going to mention this in his report.

11/02/2000
Andreas Lund has completed his signing and will start tomorrows match at Chelsea.

The result of the Man Of The Match for the Everton match is as follows: -

Neal Ardley 10 votes 53%
Walid Badir 3 votes 16%
Carl Leaburn 2 votes 11%
Robbie Earle 2 votes 11%
Trond Andersen 1 vote 5%
Kenny Cunningham 1 vote 5%

10/02/2000
So after a week of stories about us having no money and having to stick with the team we have we go and sign Andreas Lund who Drillo is a big fan of.

Lund.

Lund faces a medical on Friday before completing a £2.5 million deal he should be ok to play on Saturday against Chelsea.

If you haven't got a ticket for Chelsea they are still on sale so contact the club.

The following is from Andreas Lund's site

Lund In Action for Norway

Headline: On my way to Wimbledon!
Sitting in the airport in Alicante waiting for the plane to Gatwick... heard the rumours last night... my mobile rang in the middle of today's training session and I was told to pack my bags... as you remember my last professional football adventure ended in tears when Coventry wouldn't take me on cos of my dodgy knee... the knee is now fine, and I reckon I'll pass the medical... very excited... hope my dream of professional football finally comes true...

The guy sounds so up for it it's unreal.

As you may know Andreas Lund had a trial with Spurs but he choose not to join them. During his spell their he played a reserve match against Chelsea in which he scored. Below is a link to a video clip which Marc Jones of Weird and Wonderful World found a couple of months ago from a Spurs site and shows you the goal he scored.

09/02/2000
The reserves were held to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening Palace took the lead early in the first half but Wayne Gray scored about 15 minutes from the end to make it 1-1.

The youth team lost 1-0 at Elland Road in the FA Youth Cup 5th Round last night.

The match at Selhurst against Liverpool on 15th April 2000 has been moved to Sunday 16th April 2000 this is as a mark of respect for the Hillsborough victims and may have been suggested by Wimbledon FC.

Their is a 95% chance that the Sheffield Wednesday match at Selhurst will be moved from the Monday 24th April 2000 date due to a number of International games the following week, No date is given for when the game may be played.

08/02/2000
The Reserve game tonight against Crystal Palace at Gander Green Lane is ON kick off is 7:30.

The Youth team have a 5th Round FA Cup match at Elland road against Leeds tonight.

The Papers have had a real Dons field day with both a Sully and a Drillo Story.

The Sullivan story is about Newcastle being interested in making a £1 million pound bid for Sully so they can get him now rather than wait till the end of the season when it will become a free-for-all. Drillo is claimed to say that he is available if the price is right. In my opinion it would be better for sully to stay and go on a free transfer with us safe in the Premiership rather than get a million for him now and who knows what would happen.

The Daily telegraph has done an article on Drillo today and was rather good. It stated that the players were called in yesterday to sit down and watch the Everton game again. It also cleared up the stories about Drillo wanting to leave. He says that "He Loves Wimbledon".

The Telegraph also reports that we sent a scout to Belgium at the weekend to have a look at David Pass who is a striker with SC. Harelbeke. The Belgian club needs to cut their wage bill so if the player is up to standard we may get him on loan.

07/02/2000
Match report now up.

I haven't managed to type up by match report as of yet but it will be up later tonight.

Drillo has said how disappointed he was with the performance at the Everton game, he thought we played better in the second half than in the first but the first goal killed us.

The Reserves are due to be in action tomorrow night (Tuesday) against Palace at Gander Green Lane, their were questions about the game going ahead but I will check on Tuesday afternoon and will confirm if it goes ahead at 18:00 Tuesday.

The Youth team make the long trip north to Leeds on Tuesday for an FA Youth Cup match, it will be a real challenge for our youngsters.

06/02/2000
So was it a case of just a bad day at the office or is their more to it? A 3-0 Home defeat to Everton was very disappointing.

Important match against Everton today If we can win it we can move right up the table today. Carl Cort is believed to have a Hamstring injury but I think he will be ok.

Last night I was on the BBC Choice show "Row Z" although this is on BBC Digital so it might not have had the biggest audience in the world you can watch the episode by clicking here. It's a brilliant format and I am interviewed about 10 minutes into the show.

Today also see's me on the pitch as part of a group to pick up the FA Premier League Fair Play award for supporters this will be at about 3:30 this afternoon.

Match report to be produced after the match tonight.

05/02/2000
Last night "It Must Be Dons" had hit number 20,000. Thanks to everyone who reads my site I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I like doing it.

The Man Of The Match result for the Newcastle vote is now closed and one player walked it. The Full result is given below.

Hermann Hreidarsson 41 votes 84%
Jason Euell 4 votes 8%
Robbie Earle 3 votes 6%
Trond Andersen 1 vote 2%

04/02/2000
Egil was interviewed on Sky last night for the Jimmy Hill show the two bits that came out of it were he may return to Norway at the end of next season. We may sell sully once we are safe.

No advance team news at the moment but their will be tomorrow.

03/02/2000
With the game not being till Sunday it's all a bit quite at the moment.

This weekend I am in line to make two live TV appearances for the Dons on Saturday evening I will be on Row Z on BBC Choice and then on Sunday before the live game I and 4 others will be involved in collecting the 1998/99 FA Premier League Fans Fair Play award on the pitch at Selhurst.

02/02/2000
On Tuesday I sent a couple of questions in to the interview between Trond and Martin on www.vg.no. One of my questions was asked and is given below.

Trond as a Wimbledon Fan I would like to know as you have your own web site do you ever visit any of the Dons Fans web sites? Mine is at http://www.itmustbedons.com Well done on the season so far.
Hello Paul I have seen a couple of Wimbledon-websites, and I will have a look at yours when I get back to England. Thank you for your support. Regards Trond

So if Trond is reading this hello and keep up the brilliant work both on the pitch and on your site.

Marcus Gayle is available for the game on Sunday he leaves for the internationals after the match.

Tonight's Reserves was called off due to a water-logged pitch.

The reserves are in action tonight at Gander Green Lane So I will be off to watch them play Nottingham Forest shortly.

With Marcus away on International duty this weekend we could well see a new face in the starting line up on Sunday. Lars has said that the long search for a new striker could be over after watching the squad in action in Grand Canaria. The player who stood out was Patrick Agyemang and Lars said that they could well give him a couple of matches. John Hartson is not expected to return before the start of March.

01/02/2000
Norway and Finland drew 0-0 on Monday night in a game that Trond and Hermann played in.

The reserves are in action on Wednesday night at Gander Green Lane when they play Nottingham Forest.

Their may be a problem with pictures on my site at the moment due to the fact that it looks like the Tripod server may be down.
