31/08/2000 After Wednesday's news about Rangers buying Hartson this morning the deal was off. The Official reason that Rangers gave was that "John hadn't played enough games and wasn't match fit" All I can say about this is that they must have known how many games he had played so I find this a bit weak. On too John Hartson no fair minded Wimbledon Fan could be angry for Hartson to have talked to Rangers. At the moment John must be feeling really down and I just hope that he can get back on his feet and prove via the Dons that he is the top striker that we know he is. On Saturday Week I want all fans to show John that we still are behind him and give him 100% support. In other news we are signing a Swedish player by the name of Par Karlsson he is 22 years old and plays in midfield.
30/08/2000 If you ever wanted to support a club where nothing happens you made a mistake in selecting Wimbledon. The Day started with News that Trond had been called up for Norway so Saturday's match against Grimsby is off. This was a bit of blessing considering our injury list. Then after returning from lunch I had a call to say that Rangers were reported to have signed John Hartson. At first it seemed to be a bit of a wind up as no one could confirm or deny it but as the afternoon progressed it seems to look like it will go through.Hopefully the following is a bit premature and he will remain a Wimbledon Player but the following is a bit of a rant over the whole Hartson period.Everyone remembers the Day that John Hartson signed for the Dons it was a case of being stunned it was also the time that itmustbedons.com was launched (without the URL). John Hartson was a player that had scored goal in the top division but was also a player that was seen to have a fitness problem and also a temper problem. Did wimbledon buy him at the wrong time? Hartson was not the most popular player at West Ham due to the training ground incident. We signed him when we were on a cup run and he was already cup tied and then he faced a long ban by the FA. Fans of other clubs always said that Hartson was too big for us that we couldn't afford him. I loved Hartson being at OUR club and IMO he gave 100% whenever he played yes he got sent off at Bradford but so would of 98% of us. The Goal against Villa to use a line from fever pitch "You don't get them moments every Saturday". John was one of the gentlemen of football and whenever you were down the training ground he always took time out to talk to you.If he's going I am sorry to see him go and wish HIM all the best but come our next game on Saturday week their is nothing than would make me happier than to see the team run out with Hartson in the line up.
29/08/2000 The Reserves are in action in their first home game of the season on Wednesday evening at Gander Green Lane against Arsenal Kick Off 7:30.The Defensive problems are beginning to get out of hand now and we could have major problems on Saturday. As it currently stands we know we will be without Kenny Cunningham (injured) and Mark Williams (International call up) based on the last couple of games Alan Kimble could well be out and his replacement Peter Hawkins went off injured on Monday. This meant that we had Neal Ardley playing at Left Back! Will we see Des Byrne make his debut we shall have to see how the week progresses. The Preston match report is now up.For anyone who didn't see Monday's "National" Guardian Newspaper Madame Cholet's Therapy Session got some major publicity check out the report here.
28/08/2000 A 1-1 draw but our first goal of the season, our first away goal since April and our first away point since December 1999 yes our first away point of the millennium. Full report on Tuesday. The match report for the Watford game has now been added. This afternoon the players will be wearing the new "Teal Green" away kit for the first time in a league game, prior to it going on sale on Saturday.
27/08/2000 Dont forget that you have till Monday evening to enter the itmustbedons.com competition click below to see th questions. With virtually no rest the players head north today for our match on Bank Holiday Monday against Preston North End. This is likely to mean that Alan Kimble will not have recovered from his injury so another change around is needed.
26/08/2000 So 0-0 draw with Watford which saw the debut of Lionel Morgan and the return of Jason Euell Full report Sunday.Poll Result Time :-Man Of The Match For the Burnley Game is as follows: Paul Robinson 4 votes 33% Mark Williams 3 votes 25% Damien Francis 2 votes 17% Kelvin Davis 1 vote 8% Neal Ardley 1 vote 8% Peter Hawkings 1 vote 8% The Result of the Who should partner John Hartson up front was:- Paul Robinson (43) 50% Patrick Agyemang (33) 38% Marcus Gayle (7) Carl Leaburn (3) 3%I am extending the entry time for the Grimsby competition till Monday Night but make sure you enter by then questions are at www.itmustbedons.com/comp.html
25/08/2000 This weekend see's us face both Watford (who came down with us) and Preston (Who along with Burnley got promoted) With the expected return of John Hartson it should give us a bit of an idea as to where we stand at this early stage of the season.Mark Williams will be hoping to impress against his former team mates and while a host of ex-Luton players may want to inflict defeat on their former rivals. Following a 45 minute run out in the reserves we may see the full debut of Paul Robinson upfront with John Hartson. With regards to the Club Shop due to the fact that we want it to be perfect and be the "Selhurst Shop" that we deserve the Club has decided to delay the official opening for a further week. This will now take place before the Grimsby match on 2nd September 2000. This should also coincide with the launch of the long awaited "Teal Green Away Kit".
24/08/2000 The Reserves lost 5-1 on Wednesday night at Watford but a very young Dons team saw a debut goal for Dessie Byrne from the half way line.I have been informed by the club that the match against Grimsby Will go ahead on Saturday 2nd September and will not be changed due to international call up's.If anyone wants to read a good preview of the match against Watford on Saturday from a Watford point of view check out the excellent Blind Stupid and Desperate Watford web site.
23/08/2000 When the reserves run out against Watford tonight they are likely to have former Sheffield United and Derby player Jonathan Hunt in the midfield. He has joined us on trial after being released by Sheffield United.Dont forget that Saturday is the deadline for the chance to win VIP Tickets to the Grimsby game scroll down to find the link.
22/08/2000 Their is the off chance that Blackburn may try and step in to buy Dunne before we complete the deal. This would allow the player to remain in the North West.Wednesday see's the reserves have their first run out of the new season away at Watford.
21/08/2000 Sorry about the lack of match report yesterday but was feeling a bit under the weather. It is now available to view. The Post Burnley reaction from Terry Burton was not very impressive he said that "We looked like a team of individuals which is disappointing" "We overpassed and lacked penetration at the end".
20/08/2000 Jason Euell is being linked with a move to Coventry with them possibly making a move this week. The price is likely to be in the region of £4 million.New Poll added regarding Next Saturday's game.A 1-0 defeat on Saturday to Burnley in a very disappointing display. full reports and reaction latter today.
19/08/2000 The result of the Tranmere Man of The Match vote is as follows: - Patrick Ageymang 31 votes 78% Damien Francis 3 votes 8% Neal Ardley 3 votes 8% Mark Williams 1 vote 3% Paul Robinson 1 vote 3% Duncan Jupp 1 vote 3%I will shortly be off to Burnley to cheer the boys on so I will be back latter with a report etc.
18/08/2000
Before on to the Dons news tonight would first like too offer my condolences to the Family Friends and Supporters of Blackburn Rovers FC following the sad death of Jack Walker. Any football fan will remember the day back in 1995 when Blackburn won the league at Liverpool and seeing a supporter live his dream of winning the championship. On Saturday if you are going to Burnley or not take a minute at about 3pm to remember Jack Walker.
R.I.P. Jack Walker On The Wimbledon side of things Hermann has moved to Ipswich in a £4.2 million deal that could see the deal raise to £5 million depending on appearances and how Ipswich do this season. The team news for the Burnley match seems to be that Chris Willmott will replace Hermann and Paul Robinson may come in for Leaburn. As suspected on Thursday Wimbledon have now said that they have held off the Dunn deal due to his suspension and the fact that if he stays with Everton for a bit longer his ban will be shorter.
17/08/2000 Although Everton are saying the Dunn deal is not going through their has been no comment from the player or Wimbledon. It could be a situation of us trying to sort of reduce his ban due to the fact that Everton are playing Saturday and I believe next midweek where as we are only playing Saturday. Watch out for developments on this.
16/08/2000 Richard Dunn has returned back up north to consider Wimbledon's offer but the club expect him to complete the deal in the next few days. Their is no real rush on the deal as he is suspended for the next 5 matches due to being sent off three times last year.Thursday night see's MCTS so don't forget to come down for a drink if you can.And for the Kids meet some of the players in McDonalds at Centre Court during the day.
15/08/2000 After the news of Hermann yesterday and stories going from one source to another it could appear that a few of the pieces are beginning to come together now. The way I see things are like this:-Sunday - News Of The World reports that we have accepted a bid from Ipswich. Monday - Ipswich say that they are in talks with the club after Wimbledon had accepted a bid. Monday PM - David Barnard says we turned down the first bid but another has been put to the club. Monday Evening - Terry Burton says that the money from the Hermann sale will be spent on new players. Tuesday AM - The Daily Star reports that We have had a bid of £2.5 million accepted For Richard Dunne and he is in talks with the club. Tuesday PM - Turns out that Dunne has a five match ban over him so if we do sign him he wont play for a while. Were the club waiting for the Dunne deal to be completed before we heard about Hermann. Richard Dunne is meant to be a very good defender and is highly rated. For people with Kids in the Wimbledon Area On Thursday their will be a Football In The Community event at Centre Court Shopping Centre in Wimbledon. Some players will be there and in McDonalds to meet fans. The Man Of The Match vote for the Tranmere game is up and running.
14/08/2000 David Barnard has said that Wimbledon haven't accepted Ipswich's offer for Hermann.Let start off with some very surprising news it looks like Hermann Hreidarsson will complete a move to Ipswich in what is rumoured to be a £5 million pound deal. The only reason I can think that we have let Hermann go is that the club think that Chris Willmott who had a good pre-season is ready for a full season. Hermann was a real character at the club and it is a shame that he is leaving I wish him all the best and although he wasn't with th club long will be remembered.Jason Euell was yet again linked with a move to Newcastle on Sunday as they now have some money following the departure of Duncan Ferguson. Here is the big itmustbedons.com news as well as sponsoring Trond Andersen's Away Kit this year I am also sponsoring John Hartson's Home kit. If you click on the banner below you will find even more news that involves a exclusive competition that can win a spectacular prize. Click below for more details.
13/08/2000 The Match report for the Tranmere game is now up.The News Of The World has reported that Ipswich are thinking of bidding £5 million for Hermann to help them in their Premiership campaign. The Papers have mentioned about how well we played on Saturday and also were very impressed by Francis and Ageymang.
12/08/2000 In the words of Dad's Army "Dont Panic" We drew 0-0 with Tranmere today after they were reduced to 10 men but there were some very good things to come out of this game. Full report on Sunday. It's Back to day is the start of the 2000/01 Season and I am so looking forward to it, it is unreal. The result of the Who should be in Goal for Today's match was as follows: - Kelvin Davis 26 Votes 48% Ian Feuer 20 Votes 37% Paul Heald 8 Votes 15% A new poll will open after the Tranmere match.
11/08/2000 Michael Thomas has completed his move and has signed a two year deal and he has been allocated shirt number 29.For people that are comming to buy shirts on Saturday from the CLUB SHOP we will not be able to take cards but there are some cash points outside so that should help you out.
10/08/2000 Lets get some Teams news up then. We are without Cunningham, Hartson and Hughes but we should see some of the future Dons with the likes of Morgan and Ageymang having a roll in some way.Further development on the shop front now on Saturday the Shop will be staffed by Wimbledon Fans there will be four of us in there with me being one of them and we want to sell as many shirts as possible lets show every one that we are "Proud to Wear the Blue Of Wimbledon" come in to the shop and buy either the Home Kit or the Goalkeeper's kit.
09/08/2000 Countdown in full effect before the start of the season on Saturday now.Paul Robinson has been interviewed on the Official Site and explains that he thinks he is still about a week and a half away from full fitness. In this weeks MOTD magazine their is quite a strong Wimbledon flavour with Terry Burton, Robbie Earle and Vinnie Jones beginning interviewed. Well worth a read.Dont forget to vote in the poll on the goal keeper who will start on Saturday. The poll will close either Friday night or Early Saturday morning (UK time).
08/08/2000 Today was the official photo day at the Bank Of England Training Ground.A little bit of additional news on the Club Shop front is that the Staff on Saturday will all be Wimbledon people and the fitting of the Selhurst Dons Shop should be completed by the Watford Game. The Wimbledon Dons Shop hopes to be open in about 10 weeks time and apparently the plans for it look very good I have been informed. The ongoing saga of who owned the contract of Des Byrne has now been cleared up following the fact that we have now paid Stockport County £30,000 as well as the £100,000 we played St Pats.
07/08/2000 I have been asked by the club to point out the facilities that will be available with regards to the purchasing of merchandise on Saturday for the Tranmere game.As you are aware we will not be using the Crystal Palace Club Shop at Selhurst this season. As announced after the Sutton game the club will be using the old Travel Shop between Sainsburys cash points and the mini cab office, Unfortunately due to the time scale the shop has not yet been completely set-up and therefore on Saturday although the "Dons Shop" will be open it is likely only to be selling Shirts.I would ask all fans who haven't yet purchased a shirt and are planning to, to make sure that they buy from the shop to support the effort that the club are making.Just like also to thank Nick Draper of Wombling Free for the updates that he did in my message board while I was on tour. As a pay back if you don't normally visit his site pay it a visit today it's a smart site.So when was the last time you saw a quote in either the Daily or Mail On Sunday that said "Wonderful Attacking Football" about Wimbledon well yesterday the Main On Sunday said that. Also in the Papers yesterday Joe Royle said that he thinks we would finish in the top 6 and John Hartson wrote about how he doesn't want to leave Wimbledon I will have more on this tomorrow evening.Torquay and Bristol City reports now up-loaded.Blackburn have been linked with a £4 million pound bid for John Hartson.
06/08/2000 The Exeter Match report is now up and I have also added a new poll. The Question is who should be our keeper on Saturday. The Result of the last poll was very interesting and was based on the youngsters at the club the result of who would make the biggest impact was as follows: -Wayne Gray (1) 1% Peter Hawkins (1) 1% Rob Geir (0) 0% Patrick Agyemang (13) 17% Anash Owusu (2) 3% Lionel Morgan (26) 34% Damien Francis (33) 43%Teamtalk is reporting that Jason Euell could be in line for a move to Newcastle but this could be subject to Newcastle selling a couple of there players first.Terry Burton hopes this week that Michael Thomas will sign a contract this week. He has been offered a three year deal but their are just a few bits to tie up.
05/08/2000 Back from my trip to the west country and wow what a brilliant time we had.Today we beat Bristol City 5-2 in a cracking game. Goals from Francis, An Own Goal, Gayle, Leaburn and Selley, On Sunday I will have match reports and pictures up from the Exeter, Torquay and Bristol city matches.
