September 1999
30/09/99 Very quite on the News front today. The reserve match with Charlton last night was postponed.Saturday see us with a very important match against Sheffield Wednesday, it is very important that we get at least a point on our travels.
29/09/99 The Reserves should be in action at a match at Welling tonight against Charlton in the FA Premier reserve league. The international squads have been announced today and the following Dons players have been called up for the home nations, Sullivan, M Hughes, J Hartson and Carl Cort (U21).Two side notes, yesterday my site hit 10,000 hits of which 8,000 have been in the last 3 months thanks to everyone who visits, and today is my 29th birthday.
28/09/99 After a week of speculation amongst Dons fans we have now been linked with Lars Boheinan of Derby after his fall out with Jim Smith, he has played under Drillo before and gets on well with him.The Walid Badir "Welcome to Wimbledon" ceremony was a classic it turns out that at Everton Away their was a nasty smell in his hotel room he phoned his agent and he told him to open all the windows but the smell would not go away, the following morning he was told to check the spare bed on inspection he found out that a rotten fish had been left their all night! Nice.
27/09/99 The discussion over the sending off of John Hartson continued after the match and today, On Sky last night John Scales, Richard Keys, Andy Gray and David Ginola all said it was NOT a sending off. After the match Drillo was surprised to here that the FA Premier League allowed appeals over sending off's (They don't in Norway) he said he didn't think he should of been sent off and we would consider an appeal.Drillo also added that he thought that a lot of Harsh decisions were given against Hartson so far this season. It look as if John will miss either Sunderland in the Worthington Cup or Bradford in the League but it should only be a 1 match ban.
26/09/99 The Worthington Cup draw paired us with Sunderland with the match at Selhurst, If we win that we will play the winners of the Chelsea Vs Huddersfield match. This afternoon's match finished 1-1 after John Hartson headed us in the lead after spurs scored Hartson was sent off for a second bookable offence but this was only seen by the linesman, another poor decision. Full match report to follow.Prior to today's game the Worthington cup draw will be made, the revised format will mean that the draw will be known all the way through to the final with only future draws deciding Home or Away venues.I will put details of who we have been drawn against and today's result on latter.
25/09/99 With the Dons not playing today results meant that we dropped into the bottom 3, but if we win against Spurs we can move to 12th in the table.Apart from Ainsworth being out for another month we have no real injury problems for the spurs match.Drillo has said that it is important that we don't spend all season in a relegation fight.
24/09/99 With no game until Sunday it has all been rather quite the last day or so.Robbie Earle and Leo were interviewed in the Standard today Leo said what a great coach Drillo is and also how much he liked his time at the Dons, Robbie Earle said how Carl Cort confirmed that he had been stitched up in his press comments and that he does not want to leave.
23/09/99 The Reserves lost for the first time this season 1-0 against West Ham last night.I have not done a Cardiff match Report yet but will at the weekend.
22/09/99 The reserves are in action tonight against West Ham at Gander Green Lane in the FA Premier Reserve League South Division.Robbie Earle has said he would like to play for at least another season with the Dons, He has been told by Egil that he will not play every week and says he will just get on with it. He also added that he does not want the Reading job as it has come to early for him.I hope to do a match report tonight but I may go to the reserves so it may be Thursday before it is done, Sorry.
21/09/99 The Dons won 3-1 tonight to go through 4-2 over the two games. We were very poor in the first half and went in 1-0 down we even missed a penalty taken by Hartson, In the second half goals from Cort and Earle (2) secured the win. Full report tomorrow.Spurs have yet again been linked with a move for both Euell and Cort, This will get nowhere as both Egil and Sam have said they are not for sale. The Cardiff match goes on tonight and I will put the result on after the match..
20/09/99 The Dons have taken 25 years old Michael Warner on a weeks trial from Farnborough, in the summer he was released by Northampton town.Tuesday sees us play Cardiff in the 2nd round 2nd leg of the Worthington Cup at Selhurst Park, lets hope that we can play as well as we did at Old Trafford on Saturday.Sam Hammam was saying how disappointed he is about the comments that have been linked to Chris Perry.
19/09/99 Today is 10 years since I have missed a Dons match Home or Away. Most of the Papers seemed to have been rather impressed by our performance yesterday and the majority decision is that we were unlucky not to get all three points. On a Site note I have done quite a big update on the Pictures front from our games with Chelsea, Derby, Cardiff and Manchester United.
18/09/99 Just got back from Man United so just a quick update prior to Match Of The Day.Well Wow what can I say 1-1 draw we lead for 60 minutes following a 60th minute Badir goal, The passion and commitment was there and we had chances in the end to claim all three points. A day to be proud of the Dons. More on Sunday.
17/09/99 It Appears that John Hartson, Marcus Gayle and Kenny Cunningham will have fitness test prior to the match on Saturday apart from that we have a full squad.John Hartson has said he knows that their are several players fighting for that one strikers spot and knows he may be dropped at any time, Egil has said that Robbie and Marcus will also have to fight for their places in the team.
16/09/99 Gareth Ainsworth hopes to be fit and in with a place in the squad for Saturday's game at Old Trafford.Saturday's match at Old Trafford will be a real test for us, Man United had a 0-0 draw in Europe at home this week, hopefully we will have a full strength team to select from.Following on from a story a couple of weeks ago Reading today parted company with Tommy Burns this could mean that Robbie Earle may move their to take the job but this is a long way off at the moment.
15/09/99 Thanks to Michael Morris of http://www.cardiffcity.co.uk I can bring you the following video action from the Cardiff match please do me a favour by checking out Mike's brilliant web site as a not of thanks to him.You will need Real Audio G2 to view these files. I have now added a match report for the Cardiff match. It 12:36 am and I have just got in from Cardiff and a 1-1 draw.It was a disappointing performance and we conceded another penalty! The team was Sully;Jupp,Kimble,Blackwell,Anderson;Roberts,Cort,Euell,M.Hughes,Badir;Hartson. Subs - Earle,Davis,Leaburn,Francis,c.Hughes. Leaburn Earle and Francis came on for Badir, Hartson and Roberts.Leaburn was our best player.I will do a full match report this evening.
14/09/99 Welcome to my Tuesday update from Easy Everything in Victoria, prior to me going to Cardiff. The second goal last night was scored by Danny Hodges.I will try and do an update tonight when I get in but it may have to wait till Wednesday evening due to the fact that I will need sleep and have work tomorrow afternoon.
13/09/99 The Dons managed a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the reserve game tonight after being 2-0 down after 9 minutes, our first goal was on 44 minutes and the second was a powerful drive about 7 minutes from the end after a Chelsea player was sent off for a second bookable offence. Some ActionSome More ActionReg Davis confirmed that the pitch had not been narrowed this season.Lars says that he is amazed by the English papers he cannot believe that they go to the matches. We have a couple of players out for the match in Cardiff, Dean Blackwell and Kenny Cunningham. Lars advised me of this at the match tonight. The Dons open their Home FA Premier league reserve season with a game against Chelsea at Sutton tonight Kick Off 19:30.I will try and post the score and teams tonight. It was interesting to read the comment made by Jim Smith following Saturdays game I am amazed how he can possibly say that they could of been 3-0 up by half time, they had one shot. The Journo's also are still showing their dislike for us by spending most of the report having a go at the long grass.
12/09/99 Drillo has said that he thinks that yesterday was the best that we have played this season, he was disappointed with the goals that we gave away. He has also said that he needs to sell before he can buy and would like to bring in new players before Christmas. The News of the World has said that Michael Hughes could well be the next player to leave but does not link him to any club.
11/09/99 The Reserves match with Chelsea that was due to be played on Wednesday has been moved to Monday night at Gander Green Lane, this is due to the Chelsea Vs AC Milan Match on Wednesday night. So a 2-2 draw with Derby in a match we dominated lets not be downcast.Walid Badir who had another brilliant match today didn't play in the weeks 8-0 win by Israel as he picked up 2 yellow cards.
10/09/99 With the first game for two weeks tomorrow (Saturday) it been a busy old day.The new white shirts are in the club shirt with Numbers and letters, they hope to have the Home numbers and letters for tomorrow.Cardiff tickets are on sale priced at £12.00 for a seat.I understand from the training ground that Neal Ardley has spoke to Drillo about his future and was told that if the right bid comes in he can go. We may have a surprise in the match tomorrow in that Duncan Jupp may play in training today it was said that "you (Jupp) will take all the corners tomorrow", this may tie in with the fact that Pedersen may have a slight knock and Cunningham would play in Central Defence and Jupp at right back.Carl Cort has returned from England duty with a slight knock but should be able to play.
09/09/99 Michael Hughes was captain for Northern Ireland in their 4-0 defeat in Germany last night. He has this toe injury but lets hop he is ok to play on Saturday.I see from the team news with the reserves that Hartson and Leaburn played on Tuesday in our 2-0 win over Spurs it will be interesting to see how they played.
08/09/99 The Reserves continued their good start to the season with a 2-0 Away victory at Spurs last night. Wimbledon reserves: Davis, Hawkins, Jenkins, Hodges, McAllister, Francis, Williamson(Agyemang), Ardley, Hartson, Leaburn, C Hughes(Hinds). Subs not used: Halliwell, Morgan Russell Williamson scored after 52 minutes and John Hartson after 82 minutes.Andy Futcher has joined Doncaster Rovers on a month's Loan.Neil Sullivan managed to keep a clean sheet in Scotland's 0-0 draw in Estonia.
07/09/99 England Under 21's lost 3-1 in Poland this afternoon I have been unable to find out if Carl Cort played in this match.Although Michael Hughes did not train on Tuesday due to a foot problem he is likely to make his 50th appearance for Northern Ireland in Germany on Wednesday, To play 50 time for your country is a superb achievement unfortunately they cannot qualify for Euro 2000 anymore.
06/09/99 The New Dons white kit goes on sale on Friday from the club shop.Although Kenny Cunningham had a brilliant game on Saturday, he has said that he let the side down by not stopping Croatia from scoring.Walid Badir scored in Israel's 3-2 defeat by Cyprus. The England U-21 team play in Poland on Tuesday Carl Cort should be in the starting line up due to injuries but based on his current strike rate should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Let's hope he keeps up his current scoring run.
05/09/99 Robbie Earle has been linked to a move to become Player/Coach at Reading, Robbie who is at the tail end of his career could welcome this move. If it does happen I wish him the best of luck. There were mixed results for the players on International duty yesterday with Neil Sullivan being on the winning side for Scotland against Bosnia (2-1) but Kenny Cunningham who had a brilliant game being on the losing side for the Republic of Ireland against Croatia. A last minute Suker goal cost them a point.Norway won 1-0 but none of our players made the team or bench.Israel play tonight and Badir should play in this game.
04/09/99 Carl Cort now has 6 Goals in 6 Matches after coming on and scoring and setting another goal up in their 5-0 win.Neil Sullivan is in goal for Scotland tonight in their Euro match.
03/09/99 Not much Wimbledon News about at the moment as it is an International weekend. On that front Carl Cort who has scored 5 goals in 5 games for England U-21 is only on the bench tonight.
02/09/99 Kenny Cunningham played for the Republic of Ireland last night in their match against Yugoslavia, The Republic won 2-1 and Kenny played very well in Central Defence. Their winning goal was a Mark Kennedy classic but I must say that in other parts of the game he was not brilliant and may have shown part of the reason why we sold him.In this months Total Sport (page 100) you will find a section on Supporters predictions for the season, I was selected as the Dons fan, this was taken prior to our game at Watford and will explain one of my predictions for relegation has now back-fired on me :-).
01/09/99 The Cardiff away game is on the Tuesday 14th September. The Reserves had a 3-0 victory at Coventry last night. The team was as follows Wimbledon reserves: Davis, Jupp, Hawkins, Hodges, McAllister, Francis, Ainsworth(Tap), Ardley, Goodman(Williamson), Hinds, Owusu(Agyemang). Subs not used: Gray, Halliwell the goals were scored by Goodman (2) and Ardley. It Must Be Dons understands that Wimbledon may well be looking at signing another Central Defender and he is not a Norwegian. I cannot reveal any more until more details are known. As I have archived the July News I have now added a Search engine on to my site to use it check out the Archived News Page.
