After just under two months off tomorrow see the players return to pre-season training for the first time this year. Many changes have been made most noticebly Egil Olsen as manager. While Most Dons fans thought that a couple of players would be leaving us it now looks likley that we will have the same first team as last year with Sullivan and Perry still with the Dons.

Egil is hopping to sign two Norwegian in the next couple of Days Knut Henry Haraldsen from Valerenga for £850,000 and Tore Pederson on a free transfer.

Teamtalk reported yesterday that the club were disappointed with only having two games selected for SKY TV coverage, Sky have apparently said that their are some spare dates that we could have games moved to, this will most probably be Monday night games in Cup weeks so we shall wait and see.

The Evening Standard has come up tonight with the Thatcher For Liverpool story they are saying that the price would be £4 million but previously Sam and Egil have been quoted as saying that Ben is not for sale. along with Kenny he has got to be one of our most useful players as he can play both Left Back and Centre Back.

Sky have announced their live matches for the first half of the season.we have been selected for matches at Selhurst against Spurs moved to Sunday 26th 1999, and Leeds moved to 7th November 1999. This make a change from the usual Monday night games at the other end of the country.

I have added a new poll to my site the question this time is where do you think we will finish in the league. Please go and vote on where you think we will finish.

The result of the last poll was 27 people or 84% think Egil will do a Good job, 2 or 6% thought he will not do well and 3 or 9% are unsure. Thanks to everyone who voted and let's hope that we turn out to be right.

The travel pages on my site now also have a small map that when you click on it will give you a larger version and you can change the scale, I hope this will help people working out how to get to grounds.

Egil and Sam went to the tennis at Wimbledon on Saturday they watched the Becker match from the Royal Box.

The people reports today that we are looking at Eddie Newton from Chelsea, Egil has said he wants to have a proper look at the players before signing anyone new.

26/06/99
A consortium has been in talks with by Crystal Palace with one of the points being buying the freehold of Selhurst Park, although we have a contract for the next few years if they are successful it would be another reason for us to look for a new ground as any new contract may be on very different terms.

I was today interviewed by BBC Digital TV outside the tennis the program goes out tonight but as I do not have it I will have to contact the BBC to try and get a copy.

Make sure you check out the new Multimedia section on it's a Weird and Wonderful world where you can pick up some brilliant Wallpapers and CD Game covers.

The reserves will play at Sutton next year but we will play in the FA Premier Reserve league, Games will be played on a Wednesday night kick off 7:30PM once more details are known and the fixture list is released I will post more information.

Spurs claim that they are close to signing Chris Perry and talks will start once he returns from holiday next week.

Olsen is quoted as saying that he is not looking for another striker but maybe a couple of Defenders and a Midfield.

As you may know this season will see the Landmark of my 500 consecutive Dons Game I worked out last night that at the moment based on all league games staying as they are and playing Two Worthington cup matches and one FA Cup match my 500 game will be Sunderland at Selhurst Park on 3rd January 2000. If we do well in the cup's it could be as early as December 18th and Arsenal away, my own choice would be Liverpool Away on 28th December 1999, but this would mean us going out in the third round of the Worthington Cup.

24/06/99
The new fixtures were released today and the dons start the season with the game that most fans wanted. Watford Vs Wimbledon, Taylor Vs Olsen. The next two games see matches at Selhurst Vs Middlesborough and Coventry, the season finishes with a trip to the Dell to play Southampton.

23/06/99
The fixture list is out on Thursday so by tomorrow night I will update my fixture list and I have a better idea of who we will play for my 500 consecutive Dons game.

ITV Teletext reports that The Welsh FA could lose a £150,000 sponsorship as Italian Sportswear firm Lotto are in financial trouble, this should not have a direct effect on us as I understand our kit is produced by Le Coq Sportife under licence from Lotto.

22/06/99
Teamtalk is reporting that Spurs may pull out of a move for Chris Perry! Yes, please let this be true.

Teamtalk also reports that we have been given 1000 tickets for the Cardiff tournament priced at £24.00 for the weekend.

The Don's have been linked to Valerenga's 6 Foot 5 Striker by the name of John Carew. He is 19 years old and is valued at about £3.5 Million. He was linked to a move to Bologna but they have elected not to move for him. He is highly rated in Norway and a member of their Under 21 squad.

I have added a new section called audio this will provide links to site's that you can here live coverage on The Dons and other sports news.

21/06/99
The 1999-2000 Fixture list should be released latter this week. Hopefully on Wednesday we will have some of the fixtures so I will be able to provide more information then.

I don't often plug sites on my news page but this is worth one. Neil Merrick's Score Finder has all Dons results going back to 1889! yes that is every game that the dons have played to visit click here. If you know of any additional scores that Neil may have missed e-mail me at PaulnRay@globalnet.co.uk or Neil at Neil@thedons.force9.co.uk and then the database will be even more up to date.

20/06/99
Fulham are being linked with a move for Andy Robert's it is believed that the fee would be in the region of £2 million, But Egil Olsen will want to see the full Squad before deciding who can stay and who can go.

The Sun Yesterday listed all the players that had been released by their clubs for us the list consisted of the following.

Brian Parkin, Andy Futcher, Danny Hodges, Gary Oldum, Andy Pearce, Peter Fear and Victor Renner.

Of this list a couple of names stand out mainly Danny Hodges and Peter Fear both were very good youngsters and it's a shame they did not continue on that form.

The Next two weeks is guaranteed to see Wimbledon mentioned on the back page of every paper every day unfortunately it relates to the Tennis so don't get to excited.

19/06/99
Joe Kinnear is linked with the Managers Job at Nottingham Forest but if he took this it may mean that he would miss out on his loyalty payment of £500,000.

Steve Bruce the new Huddersfield Town manager is reported to be close to signing Jason Euell, this will most probably turn out to be untrue but it is rumoured that Jason wants to play up front rather than the midfield role that he has been in.

Below is a picture that was on the WISA chat site but it shows the new boss wearing his colours.

Egil in Kit

The new kit is not yet available so he is wearing the old kit.

18/06/99
Egil has stated that he want Mick Harford and David Kemp to stay at the club. He says that he needs coaches with English experience.

Olsen will also have talks with sully to find out if he needs to bring in a new keeper. He has stated that Sullivan is the only player that may leave and that Thatcher is going not for sale. Does this mean that the Perry move is all signed or he is not going?

Yesterday was 22 years to the day that Wimbledon were elected to the League. When you consider this fact it makes you realise what we have achieved over the past 22 years.

Ex-Don Steve Anthrobus has decided to join Oxford rather than Wycombe after being released by Crewe.

17/06/99
I must add my congratulations to Robbie Earle on his award of a MBE. Robbie is really one of the nice guys of football and he must be very proud of this award.

Although the picture has been on Marc Jones's web site and the Tiny Computer Site for a few days now below is what the new shirt will look like.

The Deal is for 3 years and is Tiny's first adventure into sports sponsorship.

Egil Olsen was in charge of his last match for Valerenga today (They lost 4-1). He was asked about the style of play Wimbledon would play and said that it would be along the lines of Valerenga and Norway when Olsen was in charge of them. He was also asked about aims for Wimbledon next season and he said that their were no aims at present.

The three clubs that were favourite to sign sully have now all got new keepers as Villa today signed David James from Liverpool for £1.7 million. If he is to move it now looks like he will end up in Scotland.

16/06/99
I have returned from my holidays so the regular updates will recommence. A summary of the news that has happened while I have been away is below.

Egil Olsen has joined us officially as manager now he has also signed a 29 defender from Valerenga.

Chris Perry could well be on his was to Spurs for £5.5 million.

Following the withdrawal of the Elonex sponsorship our new shirt sponsors are Tiny Computers.

06/06/99
I am now away on my holidays until the 15th June and so the site will not be updated until then.

06/06/99
After the good night of international football on Friday night Saturday saw poor results for Scotland and Wales. Scotland conceded a last minute goal against the Faroe Islands for a 1-1 draw and Wales got beat by Italy.

Sullivan was not at fault for the goal that went in and Hartson did not start for Wales.

Following the 4-0 defeat that Wales suffered Bobby Gould resigned as team manager.

05/06/99
In last nights England Under 21 match Carl Cort scored twice in the 3-0 Victory over Sweden's U-21.

The Wimbledon Down Under Supporters Association is reporting that our shirt sponsor Elonex has elected not to continue with the sponsorship. No new sponsor has been announced but this might explain why the new shirt was not on display at Liverpool.

04/06/99
Their are three major sticking points over the Olsen deal.

1) £2 Million Compensation.
2) Lars Tjaernaas (Olsen's number two We also want him.
3)Valerenga don't want Olsen to go before 10th July 1999. If this is the case it will be 10 days into the Dons pre-season build up and only a week before the first pre-season matches.

Carl Cort starts for England Under 21's tonight for the first time.

03/06/99
Egil Olsen's arrival at the Dons has been put on hold for a while as his current club Valerenga have requested £2 million in compensation for the loss of his service. We are in the process of negotiating this figure but it may be best if both sides take a few days off before talking again.

The Premier League today announced their Fair Play awards and no surprise that Man U took the award on the pitch the award for best fans went to The Dons. Now I am sure that everyone will say that it's because no one goes well all I can say Is "Quality not Quantity" well done everyone.

02/06/99
As the dust begins to settle on the news about Joe Kinnear it looks more than likely that he was pushed out by the Norwegians at the club.

Sam has said Joe can stay at the club until he gets his new "Top Job", He has already been linked with a move to Celtic.

I must add that I am very disappointed with some of the Quotes that have been given under Joe's name, these include "I have taken them to three semi-finals in the last three years this is as good as we could do" and "I want to go to a big club to win things".

In other news Chris Perry was linked with a move to Spurs today, lets hope this is not true.

In my last poll as to if the 1998-99 season was a success 82% said no and 18% said yes. I have now added a new poll.

Luton have confirmed that Chris Willmott will be leaving them we are still meant to be after him.

01/06/99

**** Kinnear Quits ****

On the day that players contracts expire the big news is That JOE KINNEAR has stepped down as the Dons boss. Egil Olsen the Ex-Norway team manager is the new main man.

Kinnear is quoted as saying that he will remain with the Dons while Olsen settles in and then wishes to move to a bigger club. Whether any other club will want him after his Heart Attack is another matter.

Olsen is one of the most successful managers in Norway's History taking them to two World Cups and leading the national team to wins over England and Brazil.

Olsen is quoted by TV2 of Norway of saying there are two teams in the World I have always wanted to manage Brazil and Wimbledon. What can we say about that.

Many questions will be asked over the next few days and one of them may be will we see the return of Leo?
