Why did Anderson deem it neccessary to bring so many new players at the beginning of the season? What was wrong with the team that won the 1st Division? We finished last season with a settled side (as we had the previous season) many of whom had previously played at Ryman Premier and above. Too many good and commited players have been allowed to leave by Anderson and their replacements have been found somewhat lacking. For someone who claims to have 20 years experience of non - league football, Anderson seems at pretty clueless. Read the interview that Anderson gave to WISA shortly after his appointment. The new AFC Wimbledon manager Dave Anderson came to his first Dons function at the Family Funday at Kingsmeadow on Sunday 16th May. He spent time saying hello to fans and introducing himself to the players. He was also interviewed by Ian Pollock for the WDSA. *****************************************************************

The interview is very long and doesnt format right in the guestbook so I have linked to the original article aand you can read it here.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...what can I say other than BIG CHANGES and FAST! As the previous fans have stated let's bring in some big boys with big time experience. Strength, height etc are obvious things we lack Mr Anderson. Can't u see this from the start of the season??? We are paying customers certainly can. One last thing nice as it may be to have a roof on the Athletics End BUT wouldn't it be better to 1) pay off our debt and 2) pay big players the money that other teams seem to be doing!!!!!

Anderson the formula is simple. Play people in the right position, get rid of half of them and bring is some players with height, strength and desire to wear the blue shirt! We do not look like a potential team for promotion, let alone survival! Let's not get excited about beating Redbridge and Folkestone as they are certs for the drop. We need 5 or 6 new players and fast. Players like Sargant, Moore, Daly, Yorke, Woolner and Farr just aren't up to it. Sorry to slag particular names off BUT you need to know!!!!!!!!!!!

- Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 15:44:44 (PDT)
Now I don't want to sound too concerned by recent performances BUT I must say I am extremely worried! The bottom line is that we are simply not good enough. We can all kid ourselves that we are going to get promotion etc. The fact of the matter is we won't! The teams we play week in week out are bigger, stronger and more organised. We can't expect to win games with poor full backs, a short arse midfield, players in totally wrong positions and a squad that lacks real quality. If we don't do something fast crowds will continue to fall, interest will fade away and we will be lucky to make half way in the table. If people believe we can huff and puff our way to the play offs then thinks again! Anderson beware.

SLW - So who would you have back frrom the previous 3 seasons? I would of like Gibo and Joe to be with us but Joe on a squad rotation basis to get the best out of him and Richard Butler.

York, Daly, Moore, Cooper, Sobihy, Daly, Harvey, Wojciechowski, Fowler just a few names for DA to conjure with when he's making changes. DA must have been taking some weird medicine over the summer. We've gone backwards since last year. Considering the relative budgets of W&H and AFC DA's had a pretty shocking few months. Maybe DA should add his own name to the list of changes!

Until Dave Anderson realises that it's no good just having journey men with so called experience to get us through the leagues and instead bringing back some of the players that had AFCW in their hearts we will continue to lack the neccessary drive to move forward. I can't help thinking that the team has a lack of understanding as to what playing for us means and the spirit that brought us previous success is seriously lacking. I'm sure there would now be an argument for Dave to swallow his pride and admit to a few mistakes and to welcome back one or two old faces with Yellow and Blue in their vains. We need to see more drive and commitment from the team !

I agree I only saw the first half, but it was really bad,I see Dave is saying that he would make a few changes,I don't think that will be enough, we need players with a presence about then, and starting from the back we have no one, the only ones I think are good enough are S.B and R.B

That was the worst display I've seen by Wimbledon in the FA Cup since the 0-2 home defeat by Woking in November 1968. I hope in the "man of the match" poll we are able to vote for "NONE", because there weren't any men out there today - there were just a bunch of headless chickens.

What can I say. I went to the game and I left at half-time.For a while this will be the last time they will see my money. The game was very poor, I'm starting to believe that Dave is not the man for us. You look at every team that comes to kingsmeadow, and you think yeah this lot will give us problems, they look big and strong, and then you look at our lot,and to make things more interesting they keep punping the ball up in the air.

DD no I think North Greenford Utd. away in a Monsoon 3 days before we played them in the cup final was the lowest. The away support has always been outstanding but it does seem to rely heavily on geography. Last year to very local teams Met. Police, Cor. Cas. & Molesley we took just about 1,000 and yet anything in Surrey or Sussex seems to be higher. 800 went to Bashley and 500+ to Newport IOW in January! and yet Essex seems to be right off everyone's radar. I rememeber the beginning of the eagarly anticipated 2nd season and we just about took 1,000 to fairly local Feltham and I expected double that. The upshot is it is very difficult to judge how many will go but it would be very disappointing if the crowds did seriously decline, and for very little reason.

One defeat, all other teams bar one have lost, and it is total panic apparently. Sandy we have to continue buying the ground because we had nothing before all the other teams are long established. Worthing will be in the top six and at teh end they were wasting time happy with a point. Although we are not fuid and I do agree that has something to do with the management team. I stand behind them every game and their comments are not great. We have three good forwards and our two most creative players are out injured be we still did not lose our first eight games and if Howard & Cooper had not be en asleep on saturday it would be nine. We have been so spoilt over the last 2 years that we have to get used to losing some games.

SAd state of affairs when we think we are the underdogs. Please conpare the resources of Walton and A F C. For us to be the underdogs really says something about our club. Don;t do a Kingstonian and spend all the money on the ground and in our case Mr khosla, we need people to fill the stands, and for that to happen we need a good team.

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF MARRIAGE--Commandment 1. Marriages are made in heaven. But then again, so is thunder and lightning. Commandment 2. If you want your wife to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say, talk in your sleep. Commandment 3. Marriage is grand -- and divorce is at least 100 grand! Commandment 4. Married life is very frustrating. In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen. Commandment 5. When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing: Either the car is new or the wife is. Commandment 6. Marriage is when a man and woman become as one; The trouble starts when they try to decide which one. Commandment 7. Before marriage, a man will lie awake all night thinking about something you say. After marriage, he will fall asleep before you finish. Commandment 8. Every man wants a wife who is beautiful, understanding, economical, and a good cook. But the law allows only one wife. Commandment 9. Marriage and love are purely matter of chemistry. That is why wife treats husband like toxic waste. Commandment 10. A man is incomplete until he is married. After that, he is finished.. Bonus Commandment story: A long married couple came upon a wishing well. The wife leaned over, made a wish and threw in a penny. The husband decided to make a wish too. But he leaned over too much, fell into the well, and drowned. The wife was stunned for a moment but then smiled, "It really works!"

Desperately hope that someone will set up a similar forum, but imagine it will need to be "Tags / members" only to keep out the trolls. Agree with other posters that without W&WW I wouldn't know half of the people I do at the club ( many of who are on here tonight), and would never have started sharing lifts from the Garden of England to games all over the S East.

W&WW has been a constant source of oxygen. A great place to chill out with like-(sometimes not so like-) minded souls. I can't believe it's gone, but just as sure that the same bunch of maniacs will still be able to keep in touch, either on here or on some other poor mug's website! Yea Paul R no doubt it made it easier for him to monitor the guestbook, my point though is that I give my money to the club in many ways, for me spending £12 to have my name in a different font on a messageboard is not really worth it, especially when I'm studying at 6th form and don't have a job. BTW I loved the site and it's a shame it's closed down and I'm in no way slagging it off.

Wazz - To get a Tag you had to supply a email address so if people's posting went over the top JZ had a fair chance to contact people over them also all of the money went to the ground fund so if people resent making a donation to the ground fund for a board used by many people most days it seems strange. I understand JZ's position, although I feel that it is sad that real dialogue and info about AFCW may be lost. Would have thought that a tags only book would solve many problems. JZ always said it was a pub that people could drop into, perhaps it needs to be "a members only club"

I understand that Braintree and Billericay are virtually professional and that Fisher has a bigger budget than them both; I don't think it's realistic to expect to outspend those clubs, not without gambling the financial security of the club in the hope of future success.

Sandy - It wouldn't be a really good run it would be the most luckiest run in the worl ever - Exeter came in at the 4th Qual round so had to win 3 games then get a miracle draw 3 wins would take us to the stage Exeter joined at. so to reach the same stage would be teh same as a team entering in the 3rd rund proper winning the cup. We cant base a season on drawing a huge payday in the cup.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 12:48:17 (PDT)
Paul if we get a really good run on the main cup competitions, the £1,000,000 loan that you are talking about could be cleared a lot quicker (look what happened to Exeter last year). But to do this we need a good team and a bit of luck on the draw. And please remenber that if we are not doing to well, some people may stop coming to see the games, which in turn means less money for the club. Which if the club is doing well the opposite will happen
sandy
- Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 12:29:25 (PDT)
Sandy - We also currently have a loan that we are repaying which in total comes to approximatley £1,000,000 once that is fully repaid maybe more money can go on playing budget and some more on ground improvements.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 11:48:04 (PDT)
Regarding Finances - We are very lucky that we have sensible people overseaing club finances non-league football has a history of club's being local business men's play things paying thousands of pounds in wages on very small crowds until they get bored or go bust.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 11:45:50 (PDT)
Interested - I dont think the planning permission was ready in time to get it all completed before the FC United game. The FC United game would of been very difficult to hold with only 3 sides of the ground avaliable with them brining such a large crowd.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 11:43:13 (PDT)
We should definetely have the biggest budget on this division (at least).Since if i'm not mistaken we are the most expensive to get in,and we have the biggest crowd by a mile.

Andy - To be honest I was extremley annoyed at your first line, Every player at the club could leave tomorrow and earn more than what they are getting with us. Dave Anderson rated the performance at 5/10 on the o/s which is almost the same as your 2/5 and ratings usually mean 7 ok 6 not good 5 poor. - When you consider the number of major players we have out injured at the moment i think you would accept most of them would be in the starting line up. - People seem to think we can just go out and sign players 1) it's not as easy as that 2) Dave has a tight budget to work with.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 08:42:23 (PDT)

Paul, why do you find it astonishing ?, if you were in the terraces you would have heard being repeated most of the time, as for the stand, we all know that there has been setbacks but it does'nt help, maybe it should have been started earlier. I don't know all the answers but I do know I hate to see my team not playing well.

Wha a disgace on saturday, a poor bunch of overpaid prema donars playing about with a football, DA says on the ows that he rated the game as a 5 out of 5, what game was he watching, I would'nt put it above 2 out of 10, no wonder DA has not had a good record on cup games, I for one will not be going on tuesday, as some of the fans at the game were saying the same thing, it looked like an england game. I have no objection to our team losing/drawing etc, but with 2 - 0 up, twenty mins to play, in control of the game, and than DA swaps things round, and wham, bam thank you mam its a 2 all draw, WHY ?. Sorry lads but you will have to do better than that, also what doesent help is having to attack an empty stand with no cheering and shouting, so hurry up and get it finished, A UNHAPPY FAN.

I sense some degree of dissapointment, if not pancic. Any unbeaten run is good and one has to look at all areas of a team. So, a few strikers short shouldn't mean all is lost. As long as the defence can hold up until goalscorers return, or are bought in, then a team can't be doing to bad. Remember a league is a long distance race, not a sprint. Normally, with the odd exceptions, teams at the top six and bottom eight of leagues at the end of October will stay around that area for the rest of the season.

Edinburgh Don- After seeing some the teams that are suppossed to be better teams in this league it is fair to say we have a good chance of promotion. But by dropping points at home against bromley worries me. Yes we have injuries, but starting a season with only three natural strikers is not right. Leon Mcdownell would be doing a great job if he had been given the chance. Ido want promotion and while I realise it will be hard we have to aim for this. Top five finish please!!!

After tonight's World Cup game against England, congratulations must go to Lawrie Sanchez, Terry Gibson and Dave Beasant who along with Gerry Armstrong (and of course a great David Healy goal) succeeded in ensuring that the minnows of Northern Ireland scored a historic win against England, their first in Belfast for over 70 years!! Media reports here over the past few days made much of the manager's WIMBLEDON connection, history and example, particularly the 1988 Cup final and will probably do so again in the morning. The Sanchez goal against Liverpool was shown on TV several times. The roar from Windsor Park at the end was tremendous. I bet Dave A. enjoyed the result! Let's hope we can see a few AFCW performances like it this season.

Since when has 6 games unbeaten constituted a poor start for a newly promoted team? I think you're all being a bit harsh. You shouldn't expect automatic promotion each year - as we go up the pyramid, you're going to find it gets more difficult - there aren't so many Viking Greenfords to roll over.

The side lacks balance especially in the middle in the park. With an unbalanced side like last night we are not going to do that well. If it wasn’t for the superb Shane and Andy we could have been really in trouble. We need at least one good ball winner who can marshal the midfield. Possibly Mick Woolner + another
