Caught 'A Fan's Club' at the Fringe festival this week. I've not seen it before, but what a briliant production. It's a shame that they were performing to a-lot of empty seats, but the people who were there couldn't have failed to be entertained. Stil felt a bit gutted for the actors. At least a few more people will know our story.

Very similarly to last a great start and hope is can continue in a similar vein. Apart from some impressive defensive performances the greatest pleasure was that we now have, as long as Shane stays committed, 3 excellent strikers and scoring goals was always a concern in the second half of last season if RB was not playing.

AFFCrob - Part of the problem is that you will find in these final few weeks of pre-season players that are not registered will try and play as many games as possible, So dave may have arranged an agreement with Chertsey but if Leon hadn't signed some sort of registration form with either us or chertsey their was nothing stopping him registering for someone else.

Nice footy discuion today troops. - Richard would hope Gelly's car is missing from the car park otherwise it would have been their since May the last time the players were at the ground :) - Rumours had been circulating on sites from a northwood fan and then northwood site confirmed it, seemed enough proof for me but it could of been possible for the management team to have talked him into staying but it would appear that wasnt possible as now confirmed on the o/s

Woolner is not wasted at centre back he is just not very good there. In centre mid his battling skills and heading ability are used more effectively. Whether we like it or not we need centre mids who can win headers .
jakedon11
- Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 09:16:48 (PDT)
Richard B - Totally disagree with you re Woolner. He played far better and had more of an impact in the side when he moved to CM. CM's is his position not CB. He's got ability and needs to be in the game more , at CB he's wasted
Lloydy (.)

I am certainly very disappointed about Gell going as he would have been an important asset this season. All I can suggest is that not one of my favourite player's, Mickey Woolner has looked at his best playing deep in central defence...that is unless of course a Football League side have not come in and bought him.

There have been quite a few departures this summer as there will be most summers, and while I understand people like Bolger, Sheerin and Ward going I am gutted that Gell is leaving. With him playing as part of the centre back three he was awesome. He will be very hard to replace. I just hope it was his decision and not DA's.

My theorry for the delay in the fixtures is that I think someone is sharing with northwood this season (possibly weadstone) and with both Wealdstone and Northwood both being at the same level (step 3) but different leagues Isthmian / southern it may be the Isthmian need the southern league fixtures first so that Wealdstone and Northwood are not always at home on the same dates.

I noticed two other clubs in the Ryman Premier are bidding for a conference player. Up to £5k has been speculated. Two thoughts
1. I wonder if this is unusual [transfer fees in this league I mean] and whether it is a canny chairman / owner spending his gate windfall from us.
2. Dave, Kris and co. may soon have to iron out a formula for incurring transfer fees [and agents costs!]

A striker with good pedigree, Ricci Crace played under Jon Turner and Dave Anderson at Hendon.
He made one appearance for Cheshunt in 04/05 season, who play in the Southern League Premier Division, before suffering a serious knee injury [speculation is due to the type of operation he had his hamstring might not be as strong as previously]. Check the website for a photo

Had a try of Paul's Podcast. Marc Jones and Chris Phillips have been discussing this same subject for Radio WDON broadcasts. It sounds to me like a great idea, anyone who can't get to the game and misses the live broadcast can listen to it on iTunes or download it to their iPod for listening at their leisure. Great!

Another sad day in the history of the club, with Joe leaveing I think this means only Matt is one of the original players left from the first season, once he goes, who's next, the Directors ?

Ryan did not look the happiest person in the second half of the season. I'm not talking about the odd good or bad day, I mean that his general body language said to me that something[s] was not right. It could be the wing back thing and/or other issues. The main point may be even if we want him to stay, there is something that AFC can't provide a quick fix for and so he is or will look elsewhere. I sincerely hope Ryan goes the whole way with us but have this feeling he will move for his own very good reasons.

Andy - Dont know anything abput it, to be honest all players not on a contract could move before they sign a new registration form. Regarding what might AFCW do to conteract this well two things, (I guess) 1 dont jump the gun and wait for a player to approach a manager and say I have been approached by another club. 2) Does the player fall into the clubs future plans.

Crawley - Found the document on the FA site about ground grading [Link] which makes intresting reading and confirms that at all non-league levels teams must own freehold orr have 10 year lease, plus also a lot of otheer intresting information.

Tooting, London England - Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 12:51:38 (PDT)
Crawley - Dont think that is correct no league says no groundsharing just a log term agreement with the owners has to be in place, so wouldn't affect us,

Cyber - The White kit was previously done in Long Sleeve version. Problem is getting quantities produced, and various sizes. Their is a difference from getting for example 25 player shirts (mainly one size) produced to getting a range of sizes for sale produced. I suggest speaking to merchandise team if you have any ideas.

Thanks for your comments Paul about New Zealand. There are a lot of people over here that support Wimbledon and have done so for many years. Stupid self centred plonkers like Carlos need to wake up and realise how important Public Relations are. It is a two way street for players as well. Players from over here need clubs like Wimbledon as much as Wimbledon needs players. Lets help each other. It's people like you Paul that create this goodwill that is so important for the future of not only AFC but football as a whole. Good on you and keep up the excellent job on your website.

Carlos - Thanks for your comments So people aren't allowed to enjoy themself? this isint some bizzare religous cult where all money has to be given to the club. And as someone said on another site the reaction we got from New Zealand fans could result in more that a 100 new people coming to games next season. It's also called public relations. - Proud to have advertised the game, got a decent number of people to it and been in attendance on Thursday night.

Who gives a sweet fa about new zealand - lets face it shane smeltz is only at afc for himeslf - nothing more, nothing less........or has he got himself a bar job at the Alex or Hand in Hand? Would'nt it have been better for the 100 or so Afc fans to put there money back into AFC rather than spend a few grand funding fulham or aussie rules soccer?
