Guestbook

Thank you for visiting my site. If you haven't signed the guestbook yet, please sign my guest book.

Please remember that this is a family based site and so keep all laungauge at a decent level. Anything written that I do not like will be altered but the basis will be the same.

We certainly will claim the records and history of the old Plough Lane club, as far as we are concerned the segue is simple and straightforwrd otherwise how do you explain the likes of Roy Law and Dave Willis being Dons Trust members, or Mike Kelly coming to watch, or Mick Smith travelling from the North East to be at Kingsmeadow to sign Niall Couper's book. Or Ardley and Euell watching AFC play; and Damian Francis wanting to watch our cup final? The metamorphosis is almost complete, once the club masquerading as WFC become MK it will finalise the spirit and history of Wimbledon FC being in the hands of the fans of AFC W. And, thanks for your congratulations!

Well done to AFC Wimbledon. I am pleased for you all but please do not claim records from the old Plough Lane club. If you wish to claim the records of the old WFC (in my mind no longer in existance) then, by the same token, you must accept that the club is in its lowest position ever! Be proud of what you have achieved. League Champions in only the second season! Go on from here to bigger and better things and know that you were part and parcel of the birth and growth of a brand new, exciting, and possibly historic rise to football fame.

Paul, Happy for you to use our video footage, as I've said before, but would appreciate some acknowledgements, pointers to www.DonsOnline.co.uk for those who want to see ALL the published coverage. Remember, whoever is doing the filming sees very little of the match as they have to constantly concentrate on the camera.

Good to see the new stand at Walton Casuals which our away fans have funded. I hope lots of people make the effort to go to Merstham too because they have the NICEST of all the club officials in the CCL. Hi all. A great result tonight!! Why is the cup final is scheduled to be played at Woking on a Friday night (30th April)when indeed Woking FC don't appear to have a scheduled game on Saturday 1st May? Surely the attendance would be higher on Saturday, therefore benefitting all parties involved...assume there is no reason why our home game cannot be rescheduled on 01st May...

I agree with you Paul we have a brilliant defence even in reserve to have only concede 22 goals to date says it all. and to also have a midfield that stops opponents getting forward also shows that we can stop any team that we play, yes we make mistake like any team but they are resolved on the training pitch. so our statement to anybody that says our defence is not good enough should look at our stats. and at least our team consist of eleven players and not just one. so lets get a good crowd at sutton on thursday and support the lads.

I must say I have become convinced that NE should remain, though at first I saw it as only a short-term appointment for the sake of continuity. I think he's kept the focus well during a hectic period and through the part of a season where good runs often collapse. Also I've been pretty impressed with the players he's brought in, both from outside and from the reserves. I think he's done more than enough to be given a chance to demonstrate that he can perform a level or two higher.

Jake Don yes in a way I was disappointed that Paul went but feel that he really did have a lot of chances to make himself a regular. Definitely has the skill and talent but after one game of seeing Shane Huge King and 3 of Jamie Taylor I have to say I would also select him below them. Also at this level people really do not want to be out of the team and so will move on. In terms of Nicky I feel that he has done certainly as much as Terry would have been expected to and I doubt if we would have been looking for Conference style managers to replace him. We can progress steadily, there are rather too many people talking about when we are going to be in the third division etc. and though I am in as much of a hurry as anyone else we do have to be careful.
Richard B another Wiltshire Don
- Friday, April 02, 2004 at 09:10:51 (PST)
Sorry Richard, I don't agree with you. I don't feel that Nicky English will be able to continue to take us forward the next couple of divisions. Which is where we need to look. We need someone of conference standard, also bad choice of getting rid of scotty.

Paul - Will you be showing the powers that be the result of your Nicky English poll. I personally think he has done a hell of a job. He took over at a potentially very difficult time, the players and crowd like him, he has brought in some good players and more importantly between away to Cobham and home to Ash I felt the team were looking a bit stale and getting complacent. Since then they have been fresher and more committed. Why bring someone else in, pay them more than we can afford when we are clearly going in the right direction?

Nice to see the Wallies have changed the venue for the biggest game in the league, so lets make it a day to remember. also just reading headlines regarding restructer of league we wil only be four steps away from professional league footie so we could make it in lest than ten years. One tiny comment about the video. I'd personally find it easier to have the description of the goal/action BEFORE each part, rather than afterwards... Good work all round anyway! :)

Richard - First half Sully was brilliant and a lot of people said it was his best 45 mins in a long time. near the end of the game I said to Essex Womble that my Man of the match would of been between Sully, Dobo and Jamie Taylor perhaps I know more about this footy lark than I thought, and for the record I rarely vote in the votes and havent this week.

More bizarre voting! Andy Sullivan whose second half performance was virtually non existent apart from two suicide passes in to our own box is leading where poor old Steve Gibson who worked so hard and played so well, as well as covering for AS has one vote!

TW. Thanks for reply I understand your point of view,I agree that there has been great players that have played for us in our days of non league. but the whole point of my statement was aimed at the club which died two years ago. my other point is that we should now claim back what is rightfully ours and that is our history.and if possible all our trophys (now that would be nice to see our trophy cabinet full.) but still we will have silver in our cabinet this year.

At last some life in the replies. Although I don't see why either Ed Don or Wolveswomble had to be rude. In no way was I rude. I said "with all due respect". I was not being patronising I was refering to GREAT Wimbledon players who would hhave wiped the floor with most Wimbledon league sides. There will never be a better player for any Wimbledon side than Roy Law. So ED. Don I'm afraid there are not that many who can still remember those days, and next time I see you I'll slap the back of your legs. How's that for patronising, youngest son!
TW
- Saturday, March 20, 2004 at 02:35:44 (PST)
TW, you are a patronising old sod. You are ancient, so what? That doesn't make you the oracle. I know you supported WFC since the 60s, but you're not the only one. I agree with some of what you and WW are both saying though. Winkleman may have 'won' this round, but lets look at the facts: the creditors only accepted that offer because the club has no solid assets - if they had anything worth taking, they would have been liquidated. So, right now, Winkleman has bought a club on the slide with no players, no assets, few fans and no appeal to possible new players. I can see nothing in store for them but a slide straight through to Division 3, and PW will not make a penny unless the Asda deal goes through, which although likely, is not yet certain. It is infuriating that a club that we all worked so hard for has been ruined, but we just have to accept that the football authorities have allowed this travesty to happen, and we must accept that Wimbledon FC is dead. AFC Wimbledon is the future and we must treat it as that. I don't necessarily agree with claiming the old honours because AFCW is a new club and we should be proud of what has been achieved by us so far (despite not being actively involved, and unable to get to many games, I am A DT member and shareholder, so I feel I am entitled to include myself!) and not hark back to a past that has been lost. I think that is what TW meant before he spoilt himself by being an old fart? WW, I agree with you in that I want to see PW and the Miltons get exactly what they deserve - nowt.

T.W. my reference to Wimbledon was the one that now plays in the CCL and not the club that died when they moved from plough lane. I have followed the dons from 1976 so read what I wrote properly. one other point the FL has not yet released the registration to Winkelman. as they state they are giving the creditors any chance to appeal or object. the peoples club is that of AFC WIMBLEDON.I don't believe in francising it is wrong and immoral teams should play from where they originate I will always support our club no matter what. AFC forever.

Alan - most CCL cup games would just about break even and the rules are set in the ccl rule book it wouldn't be fair if it said home side keeps all gate money unless they draw afc wimbledon when the gate money must be split!!
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Friday, March 19, 2004 at 11:55:37 (PST)
Wolveswomble; You are right in one respect but the true Wimbledon F.C died when the now franchised club moved away from Selhurst (or should it really be Plough Lane?). As for going non league, so what. That is from where the proper Wimbledon came. By all means be proud of AFC, support and love the club but please do not claim the new club as the real WImbledon F.C. Let that club rest in the memories of those that can remember the great sides and players. With all due respect long before you were born.

I would just like to point out that the trouble at Bromley was caused by only 20 or so ppl who probably had nothing to do with Coney hall. I saw a lot of Coney fans who were very well behaved and clearly love their club. They had many chidren-lots in Club shirts who enjoyed seeing their team in a big game. The drunken youths who were intent on causing trouble have ruined Coneys best hope of beating us. Alright, some of our lot dont need much excuse to fight back and seem to think fists are the answer to verbal insults. We must learn from this and hope we never see scenes like this again. My thoughts are with Ivor and Kris who must be worried about the future and with the Team who must fear for the safety of their families in the crowd when things like this happen.

MFF - good to hear from you - to be fair it's not as if our fans just go round ccl grounds get drunk and start fights. The number of people who had too much last night was from both teams and as has been mentioned it wasnt just a case of the bar being open it was the fact that they were selling beer in cans to whoever wanted to buy it from the tea bar. also no stewards meant there was no chance of any problems, that people could see about to start being stoped.

I say they they should stop selling beer at football matches. and also with these type of they should be better policed. but saying what I have said the trouble could have been caused by people or fans from other clubs who go looking for these tpyes of matches. to cause trouble to give clubs like ours who are family orientated and friendly. it is incidents like this that can do so much damage to our reputation and put us down as a club that causes trouble where ever we go. If it is found that the people that started the fighting to be fans of Coney Hall then the club should not be allowed to bring their supporters to the replay if there is to be one.

Last night was a disgrace, there supporters were looking for trouble all night as well as throwing beer over our dugout. On top of that there was no organisation, with no stewards and no police even though there were more than 2,000 people there. We had better not be thrown out for this as our supporters did nothing wrong.

Not sure if this point has already been made but I think that Saturday was a small milestone in that it was our 100th competitive game (54 last season, 33 league and 13 cup this year). From memory (I do not have last season stats to hand) our record is 83 wins, 5 draws and 13 defeats. Paul (or somebody else) will no doubt correct any errors in this.

Sandy - Hate to say it but totally agree with you. Still feel there are rather too many things about the club that 'are under construction' at the moment. A vast amount was achieved in the first 14 months and it is not obvious what has been happening off the pitch in the last seven.
