I have just tried to place a vote on a player which I think played well on Satuday, however I have made a previous vote for him a couple of weeks ago. Does this mean that once you place a vote you can not for that player again this season????? Apart from this slight hitch think the page is really good!!!!

Interesting info on the vase but a couple of small errors, don't think Sky show the Vase final(they do the Trophy instead)and the prize money is not cumulative ie if you win you get £15k not £32k, you get the amount corresponding with the round you go out at

Agree with Bob and Big John - Frodo was a bit out of his depth Wed night - moving forward we need more cover for Seb / Gav maybe Ginge + A N Other to be brought through this year.
Hopefully Ali is learning well at Carshalton and can come back at short notice in case we lose Joe 0r Kevin.
Back to the best tomorrow so despite Wootton's squad strengthening I think we'll be in for a good one.

Think Wednesday night's game showed..that Frodo is a useful player to have on the bench but is not good enough as a first choice in midfield, Jamie is a good backup in defence but is too slow for midfield, Lewis is not a left back, Luffman has promise and Scotty is a showman but at present we really do not have adequate backup for Joe and Coops.

Will be interesting to see what starting XI Terry puts out against Walton. IMO, I can't see why we cannot start with the team that played against Cobham. Terry mentioned in one of his programme notes earlier in the season that the Premier Cup is one he would like to win, so on that basis, I can't see any point in making wholesale changes. Then again, I thought Ryan Gray would never dislodge Sully from the team at the start of the season!!!! Hence T. Eames - Manager...

Epsom, - Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 10:47:25 (PST)
Dave made a good point on the 14th - without Gav & Seb I think we seem to rapidly deteriorate. We are spoilt for choice defensively and on the wings with maybe too many capable, proven players able to come in without the team obviously losing momentum but lose Gav or Seb and we look a lot weaker. Don't think Frodo is a player for the future so maybe we need to start blooding some other central midfield talent and Paul I think Wednesday's a good time to start. Upfront is a concern as well as soon as either Joe or Coops are out.

I would Paul. Infact, with the Vase coming up I feel Teryy should play all fringe players if not a complete ressies team out. If we get knackered or injured for Saturday, particularly with this heavy rain, then we will regret it.

It's not arguments that get to me I can understand reasonable disscussion on a matter but the fact is the % of MOM polls that throw up "unexpected" results its so low it's not worth going on about? And everyone is blaming Aideen for it when I am sure it's not her. It's also part of the reason why i dont normally vote for man of the match as i find it hard to pick individual players. As far as I am concerned any one that puts on a AFC Kit is Man Of The Match and a couple of times I have put up "The Whole Team" as an option people have complained about that.

Richard..its really got to you hasnt it? You want footballing reasons,ok...He stepped into a successful defence, played out of his best position for 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet. He got himself into scoring positions (missed a sitter, but who hasnt??) He marked the keeper out of it on all the set plays, doing Oakins job adequately enough for us not to have missed him.In a pretty dire game, where for me no one really shined, that was enough to win him MY ONE VOTE,so whats your problem with that? Im not asking you to justify your opinions (and thats all this is about, opinions) Now,please let me know the answers of the other 62 voters, you are going to ask them the same quetion arent you?s

I can understand what fun it must be to vote for Waardaay week in week out, irrespective of the time he spends on the pitch or the quality of his performance. Eventually, I guess even this exquisite pleasure may diminish with repetition. Of course MOTM is unofficial and no bottles of champagne change hands and people are entitled to vote for whoever they want, but I think the stats do make an interesting rough guide to performances, especially when viewed over the course of the season.

Cant believe all this fuss Wardy getting votes and some people not liking it..and Paul,I laugh at the thought of me knowing how to change the system,i am the biggest technophobe going! No need for change Paul, its great the way it is,if we all saw games the same way there would be no need for a manager,we could all pick the team each week! Right final word on the man of the match vote from me there are three options 1) I stop doing the man of the match vote 2) People have to send me an e-mail for the man of the match then I can see who and when is voting for what player. 3) We leave it as it is. How ofter does the Man Of The Match vote produce a strange result once maybe twice a season. I think option 3 is the best one so lets just continue as we are. By the way if anyone is multiple voting to try and fix the result please dont (and this is not aimed at Aideen or Jill as I dont think they know how to change the system) as otherwise I will pull the MOM poll and you will be spoiling it for the 100's of other people that read the site every day.

Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 09:02:16 (PST)
Aideen & Jill, Just quite what is the point of just voting everytime for your favourite player? I rather stupidly take the weekly poll seriously but clearly some of the voting is so wide of the mark that it is embarrassingly and insulting to those who have actually had a very good game and deserve the supporters recognition. This sort of irrelevant voting shows very badly on our excellent support. The vote is not for nicest man of the match, or oldest, shortest or man who played against Sandhurst and is still with the club. Surely only Sheerin & Harvey played long and enough and well enough to claim the majority of the votes.

Richard - I think yesterday the players and fans were unsettled in the first half by the change of end's i cant remember any signing in the first half but thought that the second half had some of the best signing that we had had in a long time, yes the roof helped but you looked around the ground and the side terrace and main stand joined in as well. I think we should remember that the fans can make a big impact. Remember that if 1,500 people are at a game making little noise it doesn't really effect the other side but if everyone is singing it can unsettle them.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 04:42:08 (PST)
I do hope Terry can keep the players interested. Every game is now a matter of the opposition playing 11 behind the ball and once we score that is the end of it. The players have started to look a little bored in the first halves of games. Think the FA Vase is vital to keep the adrenalin flowing. Also just a tip to Matt Hodge that he will find it a lot easier to get in the team if he does continually dive. We certainly do not need to win by cheating this season!

To answer the question about Withdean 2000 (yes - will dive does seem more accurate) I understand the guy who bankrolled the club last season decided this year to put his money elsewhere (i.e. in to Worthing). I believe some players did indeed switch to Wothing (so good chance our paths will cross again next season) whilst others moved elsewhere.

Richard - Just read your post about Gavin below and totally disagree with you. Ok he may not have played to his full potential this season but he is vital in Midfield. Not only does he get stuck in, he creates goals as well. You only have to look at his pass to Siddy against Chipstead. How can you not react when he continuously gets kicked and stamped on during the games? The refs give the Midfield no protection whatsoever that's why Seb and him probably get so irate as they are generally quite unlucky with the referees decision. Gavin got booked for dissent at Reading because the bloke jumped all over him and they got a free kick? I was standing right behind them.

Richard - I think one of the problems we have as fans is that we always judge players on previous performances last year Sids was brilliant and this year due to injurys he hasn't been the same player. The majority of people vote at work so tomorrow may give a better idea. I also agree that Gav has not been the brilliant he has been in the past but i am sure that we will see them back to the good performances as well. I have put a few stats together that i will be putting up over the next few days that shows performance in man of the match polls. I hope you will like what you see.

Yes I know I will be told it is a matter of opinion and I should mind my own business but do we really think that Bolger and Ward were the best two players at Reading?!? I felt sorry for Keith as he was brought in at the last minute and in a position which is not ideal and his first outing of the League Season. He did just enough but that did give him time to miss an open goal and to be fair look very slow and dodgy. Matt covered for him a lot but gets far fewer votes? This is someone's chance to tell me exactly what gavin Bolger does so regularly to get so many votes. On the plus side he works very hard and occasionally puts in a really telling pass. On the negative side he spends the game swearing at teh referees and constantly passing to the opposition. having crticised Sidwell last week I thought he was terrific and worked his socks off in attack and defense. Only one other person thought so. Clearly after going to over 1,000 matches I have lost my marbles or there are some people who vote and clearly do not go to the game. Right am ready for the abuse.....

Boom Boom - totally agree Paul was excellent in the first half but possibly was injured in the second as he was a bit annoymous and came off. Still as everyone else was anonymous in the second half. I was therefore amazed to see no one had voted for him. There again having seen recent polls probably not surprised.

My comment about being a teacher had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to doing with how good anyone's spelling is. I was referring to the dictatorial manner in which I was told I was patently wrong on everything I said, with no question about it. I was wrong in saying Michael was 'dreadful' in the first half I was just trying illustrate the difference in the second. Also that I feel all the danger is created wide this season as the ball still comes far too easily through our midfield and if we did not have Lord Matt their we would let too many goals in.
Anyway nice to be discussing the team, doesn't happen enough on here. Ratty generally like your contributions but you have got the wrong end of the stick this time.

To eanlbe wirtetn cmomucnaiton all you need is to hvae the crorcet ltetres at the beignnig and end of ecah wrod. Why do some people feel it necessary to make snide comments about an individuals spelling/grammar skills. That's the question you should be asking yourself Richard.

Richard - I take it you dont know Andre? too many people seemed bothered about spelling and grammar on this site it's a guestbook for petes sake not a BA Business 3rd year disatation!! - Anyway on Saturday Sids had the ball out wide I think coops asked for the triangle button to be pressed (through ball on pro evolution 3) and when Sids played it coops stood there and looked at it and some fans moaned at Sids.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Monday, October 27, 2003 at 10:51:31 (PST)
Andre - Not a School teacher are we? Lee Siwell did have a disappointing game in that his distribution was poor and he is still in this habit of not feeling confident enough to pass players and cross towards the by line. He is far too keen to release the ball early and these "crosses" from just over the half way line are a nonsense. Against Feltham even my wife commented that he was a very skilful player but does not always do the best thing with the ball. The fact that I mention this rather shows how far the club has come and just how well they are playing this season.
Without wanting to take a totally different view, for it is nice to be actually concentrating on the football, I still feel that the centre of midfield is not the strongest area. The defense has been excellent and the whole left side very good and of course Joe and Coops have been red hot. I like the way Gavin gets very involved but am afraid if you watch his passing closely it really is not as accurate as it might be, despite many people seemingly thinking he is new Zidane.

Whether or not MC Harvey has brought £90 or £80,000 I dont think that is what you should be focusing on, the point is that he has brought shares in the club to help and show his support. As far as his playing goes in the first half he didnt play very badly, and considering it was his debut, he didnt do to badly and fitted in to the team quite well, in the second half he played very well as he was more settled down in to the team.
This season the centre of midfield has probably been the strongest area of our squad, so to say that you dont feel very sure with them is way of the mark.
And Lee Sidwell, didnt have that bad a game he just didnt stand out that much, and also he is still recovering from his injury.

Paul - A question about Willdive 2000. The fact that this now struggling team has scored 15 goals in their last 2 games. Have you any idea why? Are they borrowing the Worthing Forward line again do you know?
Richard B another Wiltshire Don
- Monday, October 27, 2003 at 01:08:50 (PST)
Yes but there is quite a bit of room between £90 and £80,000. Anyway forget all that. E.D. he was pretty dreadful in the first half to be honest with passes endlessly going to Chips. In the second half he was brilliant, did little wrong and linked up with Ryan Gray really well. With Dobbinson as well the left side looks really strong. I wish I felt as sure with the centre of the Midfield. I also appreciate that Cooper had an off game but when he does people always moan at him whereas Sidwell had a nightmare and nobody utters a word.

Firstly, never mind the financial contribution or music career of Harvey - is he actually any good on the pitch??!!
Secondly, I see that the franchise are going to ask to be allowed to sign players even though they are still in administration. Oh why not - it's just one tincy little rule that needs to be broken, and they've never broken any before ;-)

- Sunday, October 26, 2003 at 15:04:59 (PST)
Why is it assumed that because Harvey has had some success in the pop world that he is rich? For a new signing to purchase shares in the stadium fund is very commendable. An excessively large donation could possibly make it look as if he is attempting to buy a place in the team.

Richard - regarding the Harvey share purchase I dont think it matters how many he bought and also if he has bought more i dont think the club/plc would say so. Would it look Charlie Big Chips if he came out and said i've bought £80,000 of shares I think by saying he has bought £90 reminds people that is the amount that you have to find to be a share owner.

Brilliant result, Thought 6 players were brilliant four had off days and one had nothing to do. Very pleased Michael Harvey had such an excellent second half. Little surprised to see on the official site that they proudly say he has already dug into his pocket and bought the minimum number of shares £90. Nothing to do with me but not the most generous gesture considering his means.
