What better place to play your 1st game of the season that Costa del Feltham? A stadium just by the river if you fancy a dip and the nice open top stand to take in the rays...... We we can only hope that the SHL do the right thing ;-)

Richard B, the minimum subscription is £1m. Please check out the prospectus. If you haven't got one, please go to www.thefansstadium.org and download it. And a call to anyone who is still procrastinating about buying shares - do it TODAY! There is not much time left :)

Jill - Personally Feltham away would be a good place to start not just because of the roofing arrangements but at least they have a big capacity so we won't have some of the confusion that we had at a number of away games last season. Especially with only 3 weeks before the game. Right I will shut up now. Must be the sun!

Worried Womble - The minimum required for the share deal to work is £600,000 not a million and we have £500,000 already. When you consider the timing and the amount of time allowed is far from adequate then it is not bad and we then have a full year to raise as much as possible of the rest.

Paul - All these rumours concerning the first game of teh season seem extraordinary in that they have either arranged the fixtures, or they have not. If they have why are they not publishing them? Especially as we are likely to take at least 2,000 fans to the game and most teams seem to need about 6 months preparation for our games.

No, please anything but Feltham away 1st game of the season. The only advantage would be that it is still the summer. Hopefully the sun would shine rather than like last time with the non existant roof when it rained.

Fleydon - I think the club still has video copies of Womble Till I Die (which was the video with the action from the first half of the season) not sure what has happened with any end of season video/dvd if you go to the wombulance site http://www.wombulance.com/ they may have a copy of the season so far video.

Are we likely to have such a video in the forseeable future and if we are not, does anyone know if there are any copies of the (I think) Don Trust video available?

Worried Womble - Itss now a case of raising £500,000 as the first £500,000 has been raised if you can get a couple of mates to buy either the minimum or club together forr the minimum it will all help. A lot of people have said that they havent sent in there application yet but will be early this week so we could well be better off than it looks even though we have done brilliantly.

Whitchurch Womble - At the time of arranging the fixtures we didn't know we would be buying Kingsmeadow and in the past it would of meant we would have had to pay to hire the ground. I believe we may get something out of the away games also the Watford game is important as it will show that we are a community club.

How the hell are we going to raise the minimum £1 million on this share scheme. Even if 3,000 people buy £300 shares each that only makes £900K. This I feel is a hard target to meet as most people I speak to are only able to afford the minimum subscription amount of £90! What are we going to do then?

Well the relationship with KFC is only one aspect of this ... I cannot understand why we are playing 11 "friendlies" of which all but one (Luton @ KM) appear to be aimed at revenue raising for other clubs/organisations. Maybe, I'm wrong and we do pick up a share of funds for such away fixtures, but I would have thought we could have done with a couple of friendlies at KM that would bring in some much needed revenue?

At the end of the day, there's only so much we can do to help Ks. Help them out by all means, but it's ultimately down to them and their fanbase if they survive or not. AFCW have given them a very good deal (some would say a bit too generous), and AFCW shouldn't feel that they have to keep them afloat.
REPD (repd at repd dot net)
SM4, the metropolis of Merton - Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 04:43:23 (PDT)
No, No, No, let's not start getting greedy. It is very important for many reasons that K's survive and as much as anything for how it reflects on AFCW. As for worrying about their bar revenue, for goodness sake they only get 400-500 a game which is really not going to make a difference. You'll be wanting the revenue from their programmes next! No we have to find our money, ourselves and as far as I am aware it is by June 2004 and not Dec. 2003.
Richard B another Wiltshire Don
- Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 02:49:57 (PDT)
Lets be honest here if K's dont get the money from the game with us how are they going to pay the rent? Would people prefer us to get the money and they fold? I know my answer on this.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Friday, July 11, 2003 at 12:22:42 (PDT)
This issue was brought up on www last night. Someone said that if Ks took all bar money last year when they were landlords why dont we this year. Naturally as it was Ks home its delicate but I agree that we are becoming possibly a soft touch.

- Friday, July 11, 2003 at 12:12:00 (PDT)
Whilst it's commendable that we are treating KFC in a more generous way than we were treated by their former owner, I'm a bit worried that we seem to be missing many revenue generating opportunities when we need to raise £2.7m by Dec.
Whitchurch Womble
- Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11:07:08 (PDT)
I haven't physically seen the agreement, but £10k pa. is probably the best ground-share deal in the whole of the non-league - and rightly so. I want Ks to prosper. As for what we are paying, we used to considerably pay more than that last year to Khosla but we now own the ground mate! As for bar profits, we get all of them except for K's home matches, like next week's friendly.
Martin D
- Friday, July 11, 2003 at 03:40:24 (PDT)
£10k rent? Is that all they're paying? I thought we paid something around 2-3 times that! I guess, to be fair, they only get 4-500? Who keeps the bar profits from KFC's home games after next Tues?

Trust me, having watched horley last year they will be lucky to stay up let alone finish in the top 6! Especially after reading in the local paper that the manager does not think he needs to strengthen for the new season. My money is on him being the first managerial casualty of the new season!! Mind you nice new ground they have. As for chipstead they will need to go some as most of their good players left last season when the manager resigned, they will need to do some serious rebuilding.

Yeh, but if CPFC are wise they'll make sure they see the money first, otherwise they'll have to take their place at the back of a very long queue when/if franchise fold. It may be more wise to find a Nationwide (or Conference) club nearer MK in an attempt to retain hose alleged 4000 people who have purchased season tickets. Maybe Luton or Stevenage?

afcw (or should I say PT?), I can confirm that Edinburgh City approached AFC Wimbledon (because I did it!) about the possibility of joining us for a pre-season tournament, but it never got off the ground. Remember, AFCW's players all have day jobs so it's not as though they can just drop everything and nip off to Scotland for a few days! However, Man Utd are still coming to play City and both Ivor and myself remain hopeful that one day ECFC v AFCW will happen. How many of you guys would be interested in such a trip anyway?

Confused Don - "We are buying a ground for more than he paid for it" yes true but two things 1) Thats the idea when most people buy any sort of property they sell it on for more than they paid. 2) Tell me what we could buy for 3 million in the merton area? I will be amazed if 3 million bought us the land let alone a stadium that is almost ready for conferencee level football.

Well none of the so far answers really answered my point. Also we are buying a ground for massively more than was paid for it only a few months ago so he must have really seen us coming. I am sure the Kingstonians fans will be really pleased with what is happening and then they get the chance to buy something back that they owned in the first place for lots more than its worth.

- Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at 11:02:30 (PDT)
Confused don - you certainly are! Anyone grounded in reality knows that this is a very positive step for Dons fans, in fact second to forming AFC Wimbledon, it's the most positive development since dispensing with Peter Withe! I would never be in favour of a name change - this was a necessary reformation and a small stage in the process of getting back to Merton. I'll accept 1.5 miles over 70 miles any day of the week, especially when I know it is part of a long term strategy to rebuild our fanbase and get back to Merton. Kingstonian fans shouldnt take long to realise the benefits to them - we want them to retain their identity and eventually be able to own their own ground and destiny when we have relocated. You ask what is the difference? The Franchise are corrupt and beyond redemption, tainted beyond recognition and universally loathed. AFCW are a beacon of hope to all clubs experiencing difficulties, and unique in the sense that even defeats and failed promotion bids leave genuine fans uncomplaining with permanent smiles upon their faces. Sort yourself out and be a part of it.

Confused Don - So 1.5 miles from our home area and 70 miles is the same is it? No one has said this means the end of the search for a home in merton but where can we sucure our long term future and have a stadium for £3 million at present in Merton area. Some houses in Merton go for almost as much as that.

I hope we will be changing the club name to Kingston Dons now. Whats the difference between us and Franchise Dons? Both teams will no longer play in the area of Wimbledon. This is very very sad.

CONGRATULATIONS.I would like to say thanks to Kris and his hard working team for all the work they have done in giving the people of WIMBLEDON a team to support and be proud of. and to help them get back to where we belong and that is in the football league. Thank you and well done to everybody who has given up their time and put in a lot of hard work.We now have a home. AFCW for ever.

Paul - Great to see you're back and glad all's well for timely recovery. Missed IMBD while you were away. I must have missed something over the past few weeks but my understanding was that the Ryman had to take the highest placed team in the CCl that met their ground criteria. Assuming that we applied for admission to Ryman, do you know why we're not there if W2000 and the Wallies are not? Thanks and look forward to seeing you soon.

Hi all,
As most of you now know, on 16th September I will be attempting a swim across the Channel (22 miles) to raise money for the AFC ground Fund.
I'm not doing badly with the sponsorship at all, but this little venture will cost me £1,600. I know that everyone is throwing their money at the Stadium Fund left, right and centre at the moment, but I would be grateful for any amount of sponsorship ~ no matter how big or small ~ that you could afford. Also, if anyone works for/owns any companies that could sponsor me, that would be excellent.
If you will sponsor me, could you please do it via the link to my website, very kindly set up by Charlie Bell at the bottom of this post?
Alternatively, you can e~mail me at backtoploughlane@wisa.org.uk
Please, please support me in this, even if you can't financially ~ any advice or contacts would be great.
Cheers,
Anna Reeves

I hope Paul doesn't mind me plugging this, but anyone reading in Scotland, or anyone who is visiting Edinburgh over the first weekend of the festival will be most welcome at Meadowbank Stadium (10 mins from city centre) on Sunday, August 3rd. Why? Because Edinburgh City FC are playing host to a Manchester United XI (mostly composed of their 2003 FA Youth cup winning team and managed by Brian McClair). Any support for the only other set of supporters to be affected by franchising (ex Meadowbank Thistle, now Livingston) would be fantastic and any AFC dons are invited to wear colours. Tickets are on sale now via www.edinburghcityfc.com at £10 and £5. Cheers, hope to see some blue & yellow there!

Bobby G, it's not a matter of not being 'allowed' to play at the hockey ground, but it just won't be ready on time. Other websites are reporting that players wages and rent at Selhurst are all unpaid, and the contractors haven't been paid, so no work is being done. MKFC are in serious 'dookie'! The mention of the possible merger with Luton puts a different slant on this again. If the League and FA want to retain any respect and credibility they may still have, they will call a halt to this whole sorry mess now. Having bleated and pleaded to go to MK, they can't even organise themselves to get the move done and now the suited b******s that are ruining our game will be quite happy to destroy a second club and a second set of loyal supporters as long as they get paid. They mustn't allow this to happen, and any attempts to groundshare elsewhere should be stamped on immediately. I take no real pleasure in the demise of the franchise (admittedly, I wouldn't shed any tears seeing CK in bankruptcy court) as the Dons fans told Koppell this would happen and he just wouldn't listen.

Whats all this about not being able to play as afc on cm4,i spent 2 years as barnet manager in the 2nd season aldershot and afc got promoted, after the first season, they ended quite high but not as high as me as barnet went up ,But it would have only taken a struggle for the managers job to be unstable when he is sacked as long as your team is higher placed you have a good chance of being given the job !!
