I had an email from the Hartley Match Secretary who says the Hartley game is ALL TICKET. You need to check carefully otherwise there could be some dissapointed fans.

Yes having Scalesey there yesterday was great. When you think back we have had some great centre backs with skill and not just stoppers eg Scales, Thorn and Perry

Matt - Tickets were on sale yesterday for the game but it's not all ticket they just wanted an idea of numbers in advance also a lot of these clubs are not used to dealing with large amounts of money so by selling in advance they reduce the amount of cash they have on the day.

Paul, is next weeks away game at HW all ticket only ? As my mate who lives over there said the local papers are reporting this and saying AFC Dons have got their share already and no tickets will be on sale on the door ?

What on earth happened to the karaoke on Saturday night?!! It never really got off the ground and I don't think the compere helped when he played "Seasons in the Sun"! When we left as it was getting too smoky for Ken anyway as well as there not being much atmosphere, the two of us saw all the players next door! I wonder if it had been more successful if more of them had come in with us! Good result too for us with our 2-1 win!

I think going back to Merton is a long term goal. People are worried because we might have to spend money on someone elses ground plus the fact that Kingstonian is a good ground.(capacity, covered facilities, etc)

1.) Reading fans very negative responses to our possible move to T & M it does seem hugely ironic that for 10+ years fans have been pleading to go back to Merton and when a suggestion to do so comes along every cannot say NO quick enough. This is only a stepping stone move, we were never going to buy a £12m ground in Merton and move in straight away and if we need to such an arrangement to give us a chance of promotion then what other choice is there? After all it is a nice yet little ground and Plough Lane was scarcely 'State of the Art'.

2.) I thought it a bit rich to read in the programme that Sean Daly thought the other teams were bringing AFCW down to their level! I have been surprised how good the passing has been from most sides who visited Kingsmeadow this season and just how awful ours has been recently. The passing from midfield yesterday was awful and I do not mean the excellent Frankum or Neil Robson! I do find this attitude worryingly arrogant and hope this is not a reflection of why we are constantly go 1 and 2 goals down every game. Would like to hear otherfans comments on this....

every1 next saturday I cannot make the trip 2 Hartney Wintney, & coz T&M r away @ worthing I am planning 2 go 2 kingsmeadow 2 c k's v Sutton United. My daughter Jade plays in the Morden Little League and her game is an 11am KO, with a penalty competition afterwards; therefore there appears no way that i could make the 'Dons' KO since HW is over 1 hour on the train and 2 miles from the station. Thanks paul for ur earlier txt msg it will b very much appreciated by us both.

Dear Paul. Went to Wolves v Francise although only a draw 3 francise players booked. only 40 or 50 fans turned up. no police in sight. only club stewarts. officially only 15 tickets sold rest paid on gate. Also the game was not by any means something to shout about. it comes to something when at half time in the kick for cash challenge the annoucer cracks a remark about finding a Wimbledon fan. and then when the chap comes on the pitch our commentator rubs his hand down the front of his shirt and says sorry but I though it was a dirt mark but said it was the club badge. I took it from his remarks that he was against francising. OH forgot to mention the guy from their little group said he was from France. and he was over here to see Francise FC. play. he didn't do any good at the challenge either, so I reckon that the Wolves are against Francising. what a good feeling it was to see that a top club can support our cause. If not by action but by words. AFC WIMBLEDON truly does have support. up the DONS.

Its good to see that Terry has signed 2 experienced defenders, as this may stem the steady leak of goals that we have conceded recently, hopefully this will enable him to establish a regular central partnership, which has been lacking so far in the season!

I have just had a look at t & mitcham photo's.And as someone who follows non league football at Southern League Premier standard i would say its one of the best around. The only other option close by thats bigger would be Sutton Utd's.650 seats is the most you will get at this level.( out of ten teams would love to play there.

serge- u being serious? how can you say such a thing before knowing all the facts? is it because kingsmeadow is nearer to you by any chance? So even if we would be charged less rent and even if we would make more money at T&M we should stay at Ks? We cant get a three year deal at Ks which is a condition for the Ryman league to go up so do we just stay in the CCL? Anyway, my personal view is that until I have more information I will not decide. We need to be told which club will charge us less rent, which club is likely to make us more money etc etc. I am 900 million % against us spending any money on anyone elses ground however.

Went to look for Frenford's ground near Fairlop on Saturday. Found wrong one as since learnt all floodlit games played in Ilford.
Saw from tube a Ford Utd FC sign at Barkingside & went to investigate. Finished up watching Barkingside v Stansted in Essex League Cup First Leg match. Barkingside two places above Stansted. Final result 5 -1 to Barkingside. B have two nippy forwards who never stop running, midfield hard working. Stansted unlucky with first (deflection off referee put B through) then goalie played on with worsening stiff leg (couldn't get up if down towards end of game) and lost best defender - had been pressing nippy forwards hard - through injury at halftime. Three goals in second included great run and shot and pull back from by-line for classic header. Stansted goal in first was like Wallingford's first - only it went straight in off Stansted player when goalie mis-handled. This was B's first team, whom we play when re-arranged. They recently beat Woodford 7 - 0.
According to B people, winners of AFC v B are away (is this right?) to Ford Utd, who do play there - and have garden shed masquerading as club shop. Info in case we do go there. Ground is by station, but on opposite side to entrance, have to go down approach, then over bridge, then back to ground. Ground has shallow covered stand along one side; covered, but not terraced, other side. Far end open. Near end more like rows of galleries than terraces. Tea bar (large teas 50p, huge trays of chips) near turnstiles. Only toilets I saw were in club house (inside turnstiles) but these were inadequate with Saturday's crowd of 60 - 70; there was a queue of 6 or so!. Must be others as Ford Utd high in Ryman, but unclear where. No pub in immediate vicinity.
Programme alleged that Frenford v AFC was to be at Ilford on 18/01, but Kris and Eric confirmed this incorrect when asked at Tooting yesterday. Apparently incorrectly shown on other info too.

Its not just the financial side, its the high profile that you give to all the league. ALL THE VERY BEST IN FINDING YOUR GROUND, IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT BACK TO PLOUGH LANE!!

We should put a clause in any contract that T&M must clean up after they use the stadium. On Sunday the kitchen, directors room and the anouncers area had dirty cups and rubbish on the floor. If this is how they present thier club to us on the hope of a joint venture they did not impress me.
Apart from that if we use thier stadium will it detract from our argument for us to have our own stadium in Merton?

Have not posted before but I thought I should because of the important topic. In my opinion, it all comes down to if we are serios about having OUR OWN GROUND. If we are, then we must not spend on a short term solution. I say NO too.

cheam, - Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 15:23:43 (PST)
We should not do this because we should not spend our money on someone else's ground. All our money needs to go in buying our own - (plough lane hopeefully) We need to put out feelers to Brentford and find out "what the hell they are doing". They would surely tell us unofficially. If we move to Tooting and Brentford dont then what a mistake. I say we should stay at Kingsmeadow. Lets have some continuity for once too! I vote "no"

I must add this comment. I took time to go round Imperial Field this morning, first with my children and then on a 'guided tour'. Though I agree with Anna's sentiments on the long term outcome. I have to say that with the improvements planned this would appear to be the best forward step for our football club, I would only vote for the move if the ground improvements were granted before, and not after any vote.
John Ivers (john_ivers@blueyonder.co.uk)
Mitcham, Surrey United Kingdom - Sunday, January 12, 2003 at 11:03:40 (PST)
I'm unconvinced. We are just financing another club's ground, when we may not even be there after 3 years. It will take loads out of the clubs money which we need to make every Don's fans' dream come true ~ our own ground (pref @ Plough Lane). However, Brentford have first refusals of Kingsmeadow for the next 7 years, and we need to have a definite ground for the next 3 years to go up to Rymans. Also, the deadline for Brentford to say whether or not they want Kingsmeadow for next season is after our deadling as to whether or not we want IF for next season.
Personally though, I am unconvinced and shall be voting against the move. I do not want another S*lhurst Park senario.

everyone I feel that the ground is very good, with lots of scope for further development. the problem in this being 'who will pay for it?' as said by several people at today's open session.
The gound itself is good, but will definitely require further development prior to AFC Dons taking up residence. namely the fact that at present there are 'only' 650 seats, and it would appear that there is a lot of 'wasted space', under the present stand and where the proposed stans would be. I would invisage this space would be ideal for use as storage space. opposite the gandstand I would like to se extension to the present 2 steps, by the 1/2 way line, to the full length of that side of the gound with possibly further steps, or seating added at a further date.
Overall I feel that at present the ground is too small for our fan base, but if planning approval is gained for the developments outlined it woukd become a perfect base from which to start AFC Dons rise in non-league football.

Sure Nick, I will do my best to report back on our experiences with Southall this Saturday! From what I remember they were a workmanlike side well organised and a very good team especially when you consider that they haven’t got their own home ground. I think we were a bit lucky to beat them 2-1 , they should be up for it after drawing with you on Saturday with you!

Mighty Feltham Fan - If you're off to Southall on Saturday, provided it goes ahead, can you give us a full report on how your opponents "played"? What were they like when you played them at home?

I've just seen the comments about the ref and our performance. We were bad but the ref was worse. I think that Southall really did put it about and although we also dished it out, we did not give as good as we got! There is no doubt in my mind that they should have had 3 sent off, 2 of them being after half an hour....and their moaning...............

The one thing I could not work out about the ref was the second incident. If he saw the stamping it must be a straight red so how comes a yellow? It was a blatant red if he saw it! Did he actually see the incident or was he going by the crowd? Also what about the linesmen, surely they saw it?
We played badly but these things do happen. Personally I cant work out why Petty played instead of Cooper. Russell will take Sheerin's place surely (like for like)so no need to rest Cooper! Play your best team!

Ian...I think generally you have summed this up except that I do have sympathy with the Ref. because I saw none of the off the ball incidents happen, because they were off the ball and so there is no reason why the Ref. should have done either. I still find it slightly strange just how little crticism is aimed at the players after such a performance. We should not get on their backs at all but they have got to realsie you cannot expect 3,000 people to turn up at home and 1,500 away and just start putting any effort after 30 minutes at the earliest. Surely this is watch we go to watch!

I reckon the controversial decisions went something like this on Saturday:
1)A Don's player (Sean Daley I think)did a bad foul on one of their players and rightly ended up with a yellow. A Southall player ran 30 yards and raised an arm to Daley. It was not a punch but at least a hard push. There was a lot of intent and in my opinion deserved more than a yellow.
2)The stamping on Sullivan was deliberate and was a red - no doubt.
3)Cooper dived and it was not a penalty.
4)The sending off was clear but he made things even worse by taking such a long time. He should have immediately showed the red card and got on with it!
I think that the ref made poor decsions for both teams but basically he lost control because he did not send the 2 Southall blokes off early. Once players from both sides saw this, they realised they could get away with murder. He also allowed lots of moaning particularly from numbers 7,9 and 16 from Southall and coupled with the time wasting, off the ball pushing, Southall really made things unpleasant. They could have gone down to 8 and definately should have been down to 9 (the first one maybe a yellow would do). I think Wimbledon were given more decisions late on but the damage was done and the ref "bottled" the crucial ones early doors! If he had sent them off early, the trouble would not have occured plus we would have won!

Debs - Regarding Joe Suspensions in a way it makes sense from what I gather Joe got 35 days for swearing and Bass got 35 days for fighting now both of these are avoidable and in case of Joe's it underminds the authority of the ref, who weather we like it or not he has control of the game.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, January 05, 2003 at 04:51:54 (PST)
The referee was too generous to us!! He did not see, as I did not the off the ball incidents and the linesmaen were far too timid to make any decision. Our penalty was a joke and how Danny Oakins did not get sent off for the studs in teh stomach of the No 10, who probably deserved it, I do not know.
I am afraid that if we are talking about people making mistakes then it was the team who put in a miserable performance with scarcely a five yard pass all day. Southall, in their Oxfam purchased kit, only rank alongside Ash in the whinging and intimdation of the Ref.but at least they passed the ball to each other. Surely after a couple of narrow escapes we should have controlled the game from the beginning. Where is the Gavin Bolger who played against Farnham? and the Lee Sidwell against G & G and Cove? I know they are not professionals but they have got to take a total responsibility and dominate the games.

I can't believe that Joe sheerin's got a 35 day match ban - he wouldn't have got that if he'd been playing for a team in the league. There's something wrong somewhere. If anything shouldn't it be the other way round?! Seems pretty harsh to me.
Deb
- Sunday, January 05, 2003 at 03:19:46 (PST)
Regarding Cooper - I can only think of two reasons 1) TE may have though that Andrew Petty may have been more batterling in the side 2) Joe starts his ban on Monday (35 days) and therefore Kevin will be the main striker for the next month and therefore the last chance to give him a break.

Regading Southall being reduced to 10 and maybe even 9 men it seems to be the general opinion that we could of been down to 9 men as well (Bassey and Oakins) so it's a case of swings and roundabouts.

Mark, I didn't see the first incident with the Southall no6 (or 16!) but the defender stamping incident should definitely have been a s/o. I wonder whether the ref was reluctant to s/o so early in the game? I do agree that he was pretty hopeless, although there's stiff competion for being the most hopeless! Southall also got away with murder in the away fixture. Also, I was amused that similar to the Chess Utd game, some of their players/officials started taking the p**s out of the crowd when they went two up, only to look pretty stupid when we came back. Don't they know we always let saides go two up before we start playing?

I know I am biased but that must be one of the worst refs I have ever seen. Southall really did put it about and surely should have been down to 10 or 9 players after 30 minutes! What do you lot think?

On the Accts yes AFC Wimbledon are a limited compnay but that is in effect for legal reasons only the company is owned in full by The Dons Trust so its not a typical limited company. As such account could and would I understand be presented to The Trust Meetings since anyone who owns a share in it directly owns a share in the Club aand has a right to view them.

Regarding finances dont forget AFCW is a limited company and therefore only has to produce accounts once a year. Also by releasing some information it could mean we get charged more by people for things if they think we are "well off". Regarding SI Games I would imagine that once CM4 comes out we will see more but at the moment SI Games dont really have a product on the market for us to promote.
