Just a note to let you know that our Souvenir Shop - which is generally regarded as one of the best programme collectors' shops in the country - will be open for tomorrow's game. We have THOUSANDS of programmes from just about every League club in the country in stock, including many Wimbledon items from the late 1970's onwards, and a good stock of Scottish and Non-League. League programmes start from as little as 20p each. All our stock is properly sorted by club, into season by season, and then alphabetical order of away club for that season, so if you are looking for a specific item - whether it's an old home or away issue, you should be able to see very quickly if we have it. Serious collectors should bring their "wants lists" with them !!! We have a range of Big Match issues, including Cup Finals, Internationals, European ties, and semi-finals which run from the 1950's to 2002-03, including a couple of copies of the 1963 F.A. AMATUER CUP FINAL against Sutton (we have two copies, one of which has a couple of autographs, the other has the match ticket included, both at £5 each).
We also have an extensive range of old books, including dozens of old autobiographies, reference books and directories starting from a couple of quid each, quality checked football videos at £5 each or any three for £12, and a number of assorted second-hand club shirts. Hayes FC club souvenirs are also in stock should you want a little reminder of your visit, including lapel badges at £3 each, and collectors of genuine players' shirts may like to know that we have some match-worn short sleeved old Hayes home and away shirts from our days in the Conference available at £10 each.
We'll be open before the match, through half-time, and as long as necessary after the game, and hope as many of you as possible will pay us a visit. (If anyone has a specific programme they are looking for, please send an e-mail by middaiy on Sunday, and I will make a point of checking stock when I get to the ground tomorrow). Look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

You (and even me!) have to admit that it will take a massive slip-up and loss of form by AFC Wallingford for them to be knocked of the top spot, even this early in the campaign. Plus having already won last year they must know exactly what’s involved in wining again.
However even mighty Ash has slipped up a bit recently and we haven’t even played half the season yet so anything’s possible ;-)

Thanks for shedding some light on this but still how does a brawl in a bar warrant a helicopter hovering above for the 2nd Half and getting on everyone's tits. Plus more Police than Oxford will have for their Cup game against Swindon!
Without picking on any players does one presume that Kevin Cooper was unfit before the game as this was clearly our most important game of the season, he was up front with someone who had been out for 7 weeks, but barely broke into jog and was substituted after an hour. I hope he has a reason for this because it was a particularly feeble display by him. Their defence was as unimpressive as their attack and, except for one great shot that the prat of a referee could not believe their midgit of a goalkeeper saved, he did not test them at all.

Komarca, think you pretty much hit nail on the head with your post! Things did get a bit nasty and tottally out of control unfortunatly, (never thought id see that kind of thing with dons fans involved!)hope the morons from oxford who came looking for trouble dont ruin our reputation. Think police reaction was slightly over the top though for an incident involving bout 20 people tops, obviously not much happening in wallingford of a saturday afternoon!!!!!!

- Sunday, November 24, 2002 at 04:56:57 (PST)
The Non League paper suggests "the trouble started when a large group, unconnected with either team arrived at Hithercroft and began taunting AFC Dons fans in the bar at half time" and that "hooligans from a postponed league were blamed". I guess this is a reference to Kidderminster v Oxford Utd and that the morons "belonged" to the latter club.

- Sunday, November 24, 2002 at 03:57:57 (PST)
The reason for the police helicopter over the ground for the whole of the second half was due to the trouble that occured in the bar at half time. The police seem to have cleared both AFC's but there were at least one other club involved. It got very nasty.

Yes the heli was annoying and so was the f***ing rain which didn't relent in the 2nd half. Sheerin was a bloody fool to get himself in the position to be sent off by yet another poor referee. That game was winable up until that moment. Happened at Ash as well didn't it, in different circumstances.

The game can be summed up as crap defending, no luck, a ridiculous sending off against runaway leaders who were not that wonderful. Can anyone shed light on to why there were Police vans and cars crusing Wallingford High Street all afternoon and why after the game there were around 100 of them waiting for us. Also was that bloody annoying helicopter checking for the intense rioting that you expect at CCL games.

We had the doom mongers out after we lost to Withdean and how dreadful everything was etc.etc. went on a 10 match winning League run so they all shut up and now lose another one, against one of the better teams, and the same old pannicky trash comes out again. We looked at the table 6 weeks ago and could not imagine how we were going to catch up with the loathsomes of Ash...and we have. We will only know how good Wallingford are on Saturday (though too bloody good at a guess) but they could go the same way. Have a bit more faith and make sure the team are vocally supported to the maximum.....(Caps lock should be somewhere on the left of the keyboard).

Lots of questions so here goes 1) Terry Hasn't resigned and why should he we have done brilliantly. 2) Don 4 - The point about Cove was that 2 years ago they won the league and now are bottom of the league. teams seam to stick together for about 2 years in this league so could be a case that if Wallys dont make it this year the team could split. 3) MFF the league is now called the CCL not the SSL :) pleased you enjoyed the commentary experience and will pass your good message on but most the commentary team read the site so they will see it I think.

Well what can I say, obviously a great result for us. Shame though we are helping out AFC Wallingford! Thanks for the kind comments Paul and tintin. You may not be aware but our goalkeeper last night wasn't actually our regular 1st team man between the sticks. Colin Ryder the normal goalkeeper broke his wrist in the last game on saturday and Robert Stuart who played last night only came down a couple of weeks ago and played his first game for Feltham in the reserves last week. So must have been a bit of a shock for him, playing park football one week and then in a game with 2,500 spectators, didnt he rise to the game! Anyhow the best of luck against AFC Wallies on Saturday, hopefully you will beat them on the bounce back. :-)

Martin D - Typical - attempt to post something remotely concillatory and get it shoved back down my throat as having a "Hidden agenda". What on earth do you mean? Hopefully not regarding the takeover of planet earth again? Suppose that would be teh reason behind the "What planet are you on" quip. Don't get upset with me just because some child comes on here and posts in capitals (badly, I might add). As a postscript to this sorry tale, I'd like you to know I am a fan of AFC, and have been to the majority of matches this season (finances permitting) and that includes all the friendlies - despite the almightily poor results. Best game? Windsor & Eton pre-season, though that might have had something to do with the readily available cans being sold, and the oppurtunity to walk straight back out to the stand. Now, what hidden agenda, exactly?

I agree with Richard (and not only for the obvious reasons). You just know that these people wear anoraks with orange fake fur in the hood, still live at home with mummy and before the internet age were only allowed to write using wax crayons. Personally, I wouldn't bother to pick them out of one of my dustbins!

Paul, Without nagging I really thought that you were censoring messages from the sad & lonely. They are no more FFC supporters than we are. Once again it is 'Jimmy no friends' who knows he will get a lot of responses by posting abusive and meaningless messages. If you don't post them then no one will react to them and hopefully these pathetic results of the internet age will sod off and annoy someone else.

One thing I've never understood about the whole sorry MK affair, is when someone accuses us of 'deserting' or 'leaving' WFC (eg.'charlie). How incredibly ignorant - it was the Club that decided to leave the fans!

Am I right in thinking that there is a sign over the Holmsdale End these days saying "Gibbering foul mouthed morons incapable of typing in lower case or stringing a coherent sentence together, this way"? Every time a Franchise fan comes on a site they are full of it. What is it? Envy? Guilt? I really don't get it.
By the way, was tipping it down in Tolworth this morning. Don't leave early is my advise.

Simon, please keep going to Franchise. You deserve each other. Also, I get on this site to find out stuff about my team. You want to talk bile, go to a Franchise site. You want to thrash (or should I say trash) out a reasoned arguement, we're in the front bar at Kingsmeadow every other Saturday. If not, log off and go to bed. Its a school night.

Tired and Emotional, just what planet are you on? And what gave you the right to tell people how to behave? If we want to laugh at Franchise, we will. It doesn't detract at all from the amazing time we are having with AFC Wimbledon. In fact, it magnifies it. WISA voted democratically to back AFCW AND fight franchising in football. That is why we are still publicising and reporting on what happens at Selhurst Park. I think you have a hidden agenda mate.

Richard B - no surprise in your crowds as both Enfield and Ford United have lost their grounds in the last few years and are groundsharing, and most of the old Enfield support went to Enfield Town 18 months ago.

To all those that get upset about AFC-Baiting that goes on - Why? Why bother? As a group of fans, you've got your own football club and you should just get on with it. Constantly sniping back is pointless, constantly looking out for WFC results and cheering/booing when they lose/win is babyish, and it makes you look silly. If, as you claim to, you don't give a monkeys' any more, then don't. By constantly referring to WFC and there (remaining) fans, it makes you look jealous (in an ironic way - I know you're not, but can you see how it looks?). C'mon, leave it now, just mourn it in private and get on with beating all and sundry (which you appear to be doing - shitter about the Chipstead and Ash results - you should really be top now. It's good fun at AFC matches - keep it that way.

It's also worth pointing out that the Ryman league board INVITED us to join their league. It was only because of the short notice due to the delay in the annoucement of the corrupt FA commission decision and therefore a requirement to get a 95% majority at the AGM (we got 87%) that we failed to get in, to the massive disappointment of almost all the Ryman clubs and board. After that decision the CCL desperately wanted us to join them for obvious reasons. 19 CCL clubs voted for us and the only one that didn't (Bedfont, according to their chairman) now acknowledge that they were wrong to oppose us. The brilliant reception (and more games!) in the CCL has fully vindicated us and made the bigger teams in the Ryman Premier (i.e. those who voted against us in fear of the competition and to have a pop at their own board) look very stupid indeed. So instead of making assumptions about our club and its right to be in a certain league, maybe you should ask the other members of that league how they feel about it first? And I presume you complained as well when Aldershot reformed in Ryman 3 after being liquidated? Or was that different? And Aldershot did *not* have the outstanding non-league history that we have.

Reagrding Wallingford as a number of AFC fans have said if they win the league and go up fair play to them. I will be suprised if Ash's ground is up to Rymans 1 level. - Also about starting in the CCL when we applied to the London FA (as all clubs have to in the london area) they awarded us senior status the lowest level that Senior status clubs can start in is Rymans 2 / CCL. One of the reason they gave us senior status was due to the expected large fan base we would have and the fact that most clubs at a lower level wouldn't be able to cope with it. So if you have a problem with it write to the London FA we were just put here and to be honest if we had started in Division 9 of the Wimbledon Sunday league most of us would still be watching or would that still be too high for your liking!! What team do you support?
