I want to know who that twat was who kept on about Wallingford and saying that AFC Wimbledon should be in the Sunday league. In that case those w*****s who are moving Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes should be dropped into non-league. It takes two to tango, if you know what I mean.

Komarca - it's not something we have a choice about. League fixtures are arranged by the league, and both AFC Wimbledon and Feltham have a free midweek slot then. Wilko - he is indeed, Peter is his father I believe. Looks like Peter has just resigned as manager of Llanelli, and his name is being linked with the Newport County job.

Not sure it was a smart move agreeing to play Feltham on the 20th, just 3 days before the Wallingford fixture. I believe I'm right in saying that the Wallies have no fxture mid-week, unless their involved in any cup competitions. Looking at their current form, the blackadder words "clucking bells" come to mind.

I see from the CCL web site that we are considerably bottom of the Fair Play League! Which makes my early season strop about the loathesome Ash rather embarrassing. Apparently Chessington & Hook are clearly top which looking at their Nos. 10 & 11 sounds very difficult to believe.

The 3rd feeder league is the Minerva South Midlands League not the Spartan, I presume there will be 4 promotion places up for grabs(2 down from each of Ryman 1S and 1N), is there any reason why(if others grounds aren't up to it)both Wallingford and ourselves(or Withdean and ourselves)could be promoted?

It is sad to see that some people are still trying to slag off what has been achieved by AFCW. In all honesty, the whole thing could have fallen on it's arse within a couple of months, but we are seeing crowds that some conference teams would be pleased with. Back in the 60's/70's no-one would have given WFC a chance of making it to the premiership by the middle of the 80's and as someone else said, there is more to football than the premiership and the champions league. The last couple of seasons that I witnessed at Selhurst were nothing short of painful - it was almost a chore to turn up, and I know I'm not alone in becoming totally disillusioned with professional football. Sure I will watch any games on telly but now I am following a Edinburgh City in the East of Scotland League, 11 blokes who have jobs 9-5 and give their all because they love the game. Give me that against over-paid primadonnas anytime! I am sad that I am missing out on AFCW (although I am coming down for a game before Xmas), but at last I am enjoying going to football again.

Sorry for answering questions in individual posts but I keep reading back and seeing I have missed something. The way I understand it is that any team in the CCL who think they may be in with a shout of being champions has to apply for a place in Rymans Div 1 by start of March so I would imagine that us, AFC Wallingford, Ash, Withdean, Feltham and Raynes Park would all apply when the AGM then comes round in June/July any of these teams would be able to be elected I would assume that it would be the club that finishes highest with acceptable facilities would be put forward If Essex Senior and Malvern Spartan league also put forward a representertive then it would be a vote with the two clubs (from the three) with the highest vote would be elected.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, November 03, 2002 at 10:34:08 (PST)
Regarding possible move to Rymans Div 2 next season it is not in our interest to move into it the only thing in it's favor is that the grounds are of a higher standards but to be honest how many of the grounds have we been too this year that havent been fine? I cant think of any. Div 2 has less games 16 teams IIRC and word is that they may lose there automatic promotion to Rymans 1.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, November 03, 2002 at 10:27:58 (PST)
youdons - I think that first game we would have people outside whereever we had held it. In the second half of the season (Bday onwards) we have Raynes Park, AFC Wallingford, Ash, Withdean and maybe Feltham so if you want to be guaranteed to see all these get a half price season ticket :) - As I said if it's 6k Brentford could move in and who do you think would be kicked out? it's in our interest to have it below 6k ATM.

1.)Komarca Don if you look at the Match of the Match bit it gives all the votes and game winners etc.
2.)In terms of promotion I was under the impression that the top team goes up and if the ground is not good enough then the second team goes, if their ground is.
3.) As for this Cotton person I still find it amazing that there are people who cannot understand why people support AFCW. Is it jealousy, ignorance or the revelation to so many ignoramae in this country that the Premiership is not everything and outside of it Football is hugely suppoted at all levels.

Well said Paul - if you have retained all the man of the match awards to date, can you say who currently leads overall? Re the 2nd place argument, I'm assuming that Ash's ground would not be good enough for Isthmain league but that Wallingford's or Withdean (Worthing's) would be - thus implying we would need to win or come second to Ash (unlikely given their current run!). What would be interesting is, if there would be any merits in applying for Isthmain Div 2 if we do NOT get promoted - in perference to staying another year in the CCL. That may improve our chances re 2003/04 promotion to Div 1 (South) Isthmain. Assuming we would apply within the required number of days this time, wouldn't we just need a 51% majority vote. It may well be easier to get out of Isthamin Div 2 than stay another year in CCL.

you must have a short memory paul, Chipstead when over a 1000 was turned away,so we do need to get the capacity up as high as posible, come the end of the season if we are still in the hunt for the title the crowds will increase even more and we dont want to turn away fans.and i heard champions only go up from this league.

Brian Cotton - you dont say what team you support I would be interested to know? - regarding the money to build a stadium that we dont have two things 1) we dont need a 28,000 shopping centre with football stadium attached any more. 2) How many club in the UK average over 20,000, not many. This football club is about more than what goes on on the pitch it's a whole community thing we already have built up a fan base of over 3,000 in 4 months and yesterday alone we had people watching who were wearing Arsenal, Norwich, Ipswich, Fulham, Chelsea, QPR tops did they enjoy it? well they told me they did. Regarding the other club the only thing I want to happen to them is for them to move and change the name so they dont continue to be a blight on the good name of Wimbledon.
Paul Raymond (webmaster@itmustbedons.com)
Tooting, London England - Sunday, November 03, 2002 at 05:37:01 (PST)
Eastdon - No need for a 6k capacity for two reasons 1) we average 3,200 highest 4,200 2) A 6k capacity would mean it would be ok for league football and allow the possibility of brentford moving to Kingsmeadow! - Regarding 2nd place as I keep saying on here no one knows if sencond place will be good enough for promotion it depends on who finishes top, if the team is top ground is'nt up to scatch we would go up. but let's not have to worry about this and just keep the winning run and win the league :)

if you don't go up this season, do you seriously think your fans will stick around?! i doubt it, every1 will lose interest in you, old news etc. plus in todays football climate there is no way you could get all the way up the leagues unless you had a fan base of above 20 thousand, and well that just ain't gonna happen, plus there is the financial side of things, millions up millions are needed to get into the top leagues. as you know you will never get to the top leagues are you happy watching the unknown teams week in week out?!? don't you think you should be realistic and aim for promotion within the next 10 years, because with teams like wallingford you have no chance. and another point, if you have now left Wimbledon F.C why do you persist to wish them all the worst, can't you just get over it and stick to your own club!?! anyway looks like you won't be able to afford a stadium, would you be happy playing away from your spiritual home for the rest of the clubs future?

I have to disagree with Jake Hetherington ref: Simon bassey. Yes he is definitely not good enough for the midfield, as his 35 day suspension testifies. As a left back against Farnham & Cobham I think he has been a revelation and has certainly helped Andy Sullivan's game as well. If you look at the vote on teh Big Tissue you will see I am not alone on this. I like Danny Roberts but fear too many performances like away to G & G and home to hartley Wintney will not do.

Hiya,
I am a Norwich Fan and as some of you know we are playing the franchise on Sat. One of my best mates is an AFC season ticket holder and I have been to one of your games. I want to go to the game on Sat to support my team who need the three points but dont want to give my £20 to the franchise. Do you think my mate would be pissed off if I went? I will come to one of your games over the Christmas period.
Cheers

Message for Tim Elkins. I've seen the Sheff Utd-Franchise programme & confirm that for some reason Allen Batsford is omitted from the list of Wimbledon managers. Don't know whether this is because Franchise have deleted his name from the info they supply or whether it's down to an oversight by SUFC

A radio commentator said that he counted 650 at Selhurst Park (so they may have exaggerated too)

Five Live have just confirmed attendance at Selhurst onight - 849 including 227 Rotherham & 220 complimentary tickets, and, of course, the season ticket holders are counted regardless of whether they turn up. Oh, and Charlie probably counted 25 or so press as well!

KD - Yep sorry about the error. I have read that Bassey ban is also for bookings but he has only been booked in 3 other games. I have also heard that it was due to his previous disciplinary record as I think he was sent off twice in a short period of time at Tooting & Mitcham last year.

Paul, Re Simon Bassey, he was actually sent off in the Bedfont game, not NGU. What is the rationale behind the 35 days ... he's not gone and written a book about it has he?

Komarca Don, realistically the crowd should be as low as 500. Tuesday night, playing next week as well, Fran have about 108 fans at present, 4th from bottom, another home game on Saturday as well....even dear Mr. Koppel and his Arthur Andersen methods of accounting will be pushed for a thousand. Will they bother with a prog.?...can they afford the floodlights?

Kris nice to see you on the message board I would just like to say thanks to you, Ivor, Terry the lads and everyone else for helping me enjoy my football again something I really didn't think possible last season!! I have supported the Dons since 1981 when my grandad took me and I would love to walk down the Haydons road on my way to a Dons game with my kids (even though my first isn't due till June next year) any chance of it being the first mascot of next season!! Love the new shirts back to our traditional blue any help needed don't hesitate to email me its the least I can do!!

I think the Cobham game was our best performance to date and clearly the Bolger & Nicholas signings have added a lot to the "spine" of the team. It will be good to see Shimmel and Sheerin back (no disrespect to Saturday's hat-trick hero) and Cooper return to early season form, in time for the clash with Wallingford on the 23rd Nov. Clearly they are the main threat, and that game promises to be a real cracker.
Last point - any estimates for tomorrow's record crowd at Selhurst vs Rotherham. A cold night, the distraction of live footie on the TV and for the first time this season, an away club which doesn't take many supporters with it on its travels. My guess is 800-1,000.

Well yes, it has to be Ally Russell but I voted for Danny Oakins who ran the entire length of the pitch to put in the perfect cross for Ally's 3rd Goal. D.O. seems to play in a different position each week and not only play well but no one puts more effort in than him.
There were times on Saturday we could see signs that this could be a really good side and presumably so much down to Terry Eames who is the first Dons manager who always seems to sub players you would like to see Subbed unlike Mr. Kinnear. Anyway keep it going it is fabulous stuff!!

Kris.
I used to live in Tadworth (Merton Council area) and my late Dad worked for over 20 years in Elys in Wimbledon. I used to drive there, park on the roof of the shop and walk to Plough Lane.
Never like Selhurst and my support drained away when the Norwegians took over. But now thanks to you and many others I have a club back that I can support and be proud of. My mate Steve (next door neighbour) supported Wimbledon when I met him and he converted to AFC after he had done a lot of complaining and letter writing to the FA over Chucky & Co. We have season tickets and drive up to most home games (and some away ones) and pick up another friend from Redhill who is 71, has arthritis’s and is on a crutch but still loves to come along. We sometimes go to Crawley Town games (Cos Peter Fear now plays for them) and often are asked about our AFC shirts. Thanks for giving us a club back. Paul, Thanks as well.
